Douglas Edward Leist, 71, of Boyne City passed on September 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born August 28, 1952, the son of Russell and Gloria (Price) Leist. Doug spent his life growing up in Boyne City and graduated from Boyne City High School in 1970. On September 18, 1976, he married Kristine (Amesbury) Leist. Doug worked for and retired from the City of Boyne City. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City. He enjoyed all sports, hunting, and Canada fishing trips. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Kristine; sons, Damien (Janine) and Wade (Helen); grandchildren, Gabriel and Hunter; brother Ramie; sisters Debbie (Kyle) Price and Tina; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service at Christ Lutheran Church on September 15, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. with a gathering one-hour prior. Pastor Chuck Hoffman will officiate. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City. Donations may be directed to the Christ Lutheran Church and Boyne City Fire Department in memory of Doug.

Gerald Lee Courtright, 86, of Boyne City, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He relocated to Curtis, Michigan in 1985. Gerald was born December 5, 1936, in Wayne, Michigan, the son of John Franklin and Dorothy May (Burton) Courtright. He grew up in Wayne and attended Wayne High School. Gerald had a love for Boyne City, Michigan and moved there in the mid 60's. Gerald, fondly known as Jerry, was born to John Franklin and Dorothy May (Burton) Courtright, on December 5, 1936, in Wayne Michigan. In his younger years he became a talented tool and die maker eventually becoming the owner of the business. After retiring in his early 50's, he enjoyed spending time at his home on the lake in the upper peninsula with his many fur babies. Jerry is survived by three of his five children, Gerri (John) Danules, Kimberly Wright, and Bob Courtright. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bobby, Charlie, Blake Courtright, Trevor Kingsbury, Brennen (Jessica) Wright, Drue (Kelsie) Wright, Amber Danules, Shannon Courtright along with three great grandchildren Lydia, Tillie, and Winston Wright. Jerry was predeceased by his sons, Ronald, and Donald Courtright along with his wife Alta Courtright. Jerry's family will host a funeral service on Monday, October 30, 2023. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a. m. at the Stackus Funeral Home, 417 Elm St. , Boyne City, Michigan 49712, followed by a prayer service at 12:00 p. m. In Loving Memory of David W. Prevost June 21, 1955 - September 4, 2023 David W. Prevost, 68, of Boyne City, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. David was born on June 21, 1955, in St. Clair to the late Jack and Mary Prevost. On September 16, 2000, he married the love of his life, Donna Jacobs, in Boyne City. David graduated from Marysville High School in 1973, where he made a name for himself in basketball, and went on to earn a degree from Ferris State University in 1977. Following his graduation, he embarked on a successful career with General Motors before retiring, only to later find a true passion for the entrepreneur life with FinResults where he was among the first team members starting in 2021. A true island soul, David had a deep love for boating and embraced the carefree lifestyle. He was known for his infectious enthusiasm for beer and good music, often enjoying the sounds of Jimmy Buffett's music while cruising on his cherished boat, "LOVIN' FEELIN'. " David was equally passionate about Michigan State athletics, especially Spartan Football. He found joy in spending time near any body of water, and cherished the thrill of skiing at Boyne Mountain in the winter months. David and Donna also created lasting memories traveling the US in their motorhome. They spent most winters with their friends in Florida, and recently detoured to Texas to welcome the birth of their first grandson. David is survived by his beloved wife, Donna, their daughter Courtney and son-in-law Arno Stemmer, their son Jacobi Jacobs, and his cherished grandson, Aiden Stemmer. He is also survived by his brother, John, and sister-in-law Betty Prevost, niece Christianna and her husband Jamie Burleigh, and nephews John H. and his wife Becky Prevost and Nicholas and his wife Jenny Prevost. David was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Prevost, his brother Edgar and sister-in-law Lynn Prevost, and his mother-in-law, Inez Noble. A viewing will be held at Stackus Funeral Home for Friends and Family on Wednesday, September 13th beginning at 5:00pm ET. A celebration of David's life will be held the following day at Walloon Lake Community Church on Thursday, September 14th at 1:00pm ET. David will be fondly remembered for his love of family, his passion for sports, his island spirit, and his zest for life. Phyllis Joyce Rogers, 93, of Boyne City, died August 12, 2023. She was born on July 24, 1930, the only daughter of John and Johanna (Deverman) VanBelkum. She grew up in Grand Rapids and attended school in both Grand Rapids and Lansing. On October 2, 1946, she married Robert Rogers. Over the years, Robert and Phyllis enjoyed many trips, including Florida and Mexico. They loved to travel. Robert was a talented musician, playing guitar and singing, and Phyllis loved to listen to his music. She was a bartender at the Eagles in Boyne City for most of her life. She also was a proud supporter of the unions and was Union President for the UAW during her time at Allied. She will be remembered for her strong and stubborn ways but she was also tender and loving to those in her inner circle. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (the late Ron) Grubaugh; her six grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life; 13 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her special friends Paggie and Boomer Lloyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rogers; and her parents. Her memorial service will be held on August 16, 2023 at the Eagles in Boyne City at 11:00 a. m. with a one-hour gathering prior to the service. Pastor Ruthie Eaton will officiate. Burial will take place at a later time at Maple Lawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to Robert.
