Funeral services for Miss Dottie Smith, 101, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 A. M. Sunday, August 27, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA with Pastor Tracy Ferriss officiating. Private family interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Dottie was born on January 8, 1922, in Monroe, LA. She passed away at home on August 24, 2023, in Shreveport, LA surrounded by family. She was a member of The House Church in Monroe. Miss Smith retired after 50 plus years of dedicated service to the Curtis Martin family. Dottie faithfully upkept their home and help raise and nurture their children and grandchildren. She also loved on their many nieces and nephews. All the Martin children loved and adored her and considered her their bonus grandmother. She also spent many years loving and taking care of numerous children in the church nursery. Miss Smith never married or had any children of her own. Miss Smith is preceded in death by her mother, Madline Anderson, her grandparents, Sam and Mittie Anderson, her Aunt Maureen, her cousins, Novella Smith Cyrus, Evelyn C. Brice, and Herbert S. Brice. Survivors include her cousins, Sophie R. Brice and Herdrea S. Brice of Monroe, LA; Herbert S. Brice, II and his wife Jamie and Hanna S. and Harper S. Brice of Manassas, VA; the children and grandchildren of the Martin family, Cynthia Martin Breland of Bossier City, LA; Dawn Breland Buzzanca and husband, Joe of Shreveport, LA; Shelli Clark Pierce and husband, David of Shreveport, LA; Sarah Mulhearn Haines and husband, Anthony of Benton, LA; Derek Pierce of Shreveport, LA; Tori Martin of Bossier City, LA; Connor Pierce and wife, Hannah of Shreveport, LA; Allie Martin of Dallas, TX; Landon Martin of Shreveport, LA; Jay Martin, Grayson Johnson and Maddox Johnson of Bossier City, LA; and Lily Ana Pierce of Shreveport, LA. Pallbearers will be Landon Martin, Derek Pierce, Connor Pierce, Anthony Haines, Bacardi Johnson, Daniel Dial, and Luke Honeycutt. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A. M. until service time on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her personal caregiver, Karen Turner and the staff of First Name Basis Home Health and Bristol Hospice Care of NW Louisiana of Shreveport, LA.
