Mr. Johnny Virgil Locklair, 85, of Scranton, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Locklair was born on June 6, 1938, in Florence County, son of the late Willie W. Locklair and Olivia Floyd Locklair. He retired from Coble Dairy as a machine operator and was a long-time member of Frierson Tabernacle Free Will Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church, where he served as deacon. For many years he traveled with his family singing Gospel Music. Surviving are his daughter, Pam (Rex) Matthews of Florence; grandchildren, Seth (Courtney) Matthews, Ridge (Ashley) Matthews, Jayden Matthews, Jaxson Matthews, Emerson Matthews and Sutton Grace Matthews; sisters, Dorothy Gaymon of Olanta and Elizabeth Floyd of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie Gaymon Locklair and his second wife, Laura Welch Locklair; 7 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Frierson Tabernacle Free Will Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Ham was born on February 17, 1929, in Elim Community, Florence County, son of the late Carson Jerome Ham and Myrtie Kirby Ham. He retired as a Sergeant First Class from the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Ham later retired from the South Carolina Department of Highways & Public Transportation as a Right of Way Agent and was a member of Scranton Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Elizabeth “Sinky” Willoughby Ham of Scranton; daughters, Mary Ham (Nick) Maness of Rockingham, NC and Sarah Ham (Walter) Wilkinson of Pawleys Island; son, Kelly Whitfield “Whit” Ham, II, Esq. of New York, NY; granddaughter, Bogan (Will, MD) Temple of Murrells Inlet; great grandsons, Harry, Buford and Wallace Temple; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Genell Matthews Hyman, 90, of Scranton, SC, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. She was born in Florence County, SC, the daughter of the late Dewey William Matthews and Letha Miles Matthews. Mrs. Hyman was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Temple and loved her church. She was also a part of the Lois Windham and Brenda Schneider Sunday School Class. She was the owner and operator of Hyman's Furniture, "The Little Red Barn", that opened in 1955, in Scranton, SC and she ran for 66 years. She was a graduate of Lake City High School. Mrs. Hyman was an avid reader, who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loving and friendly and touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her and her kindness touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her selfness nature and generous spirit was infectious and her unwavering faith in God inspired all. She dedicated her life to her family and her legacy will live on forever through her grandchildren. Her unwavering love and devotion to family will always be cherished and remembered. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her greatest love was to spend time with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt LeGrande Hyman; her only daughter, Margaret Hyman Carroway; brothers, Donald Matthews and Leo Matthews; sisters, Kathleen Poston, Vickie Buchanan and Juanita Player. She is survived by one son of the home, Kent LeGrande Hyman, of Scranton, SC; three grandsons, Jason Dean Carroway of Scranton, Philip Spencer Carroway (Lauren) of Beaufort and Matthew Hyman (Hope) Carroway, of Florence, SC; three great-grandsons, Caleb Carroway of Florence, Spencer and Heath Carroway of Beaufort; one-great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Carroway of Florence; and sister, Joyce Pounder and brother-in-law, Major Gary Pounder. Mrs. Kelly was a devout Christian lady, who attended Scranton Baptist Church. God has blessed her with a long life, with a family that loves her unconditionally.
