"Fern Roselle (Baker) Patten was born on April 9, 1935 and departed this life on November 23, 2023. At the time of her passing she was 88 years, seven months, and 14 days of age. On July 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Beech Patten and to this union three children were born: Teresa (Patten) Patterson, steven Patten, and Bryan Patten. In the early 1970's she was saved and baptized in the Buffalo Branch not far from her home by the Rev. Allen Hawley. She worked at Dallas County Abstract and Hogan Land Title until she retired, a total of 36 years. Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Beech Patten; her parents, Nova and Cecil Baker; and her son-in-law, Daryl Patterson. She is survived by her children, Teresa Patterson of Buffalo, MO, Steven Patten \u0026amp; wife Jodi of Elkland, MO, and Bryan Patten \u0026amp; wife Tammy of Fair Grove, MO; grandchildren, Michael Patterson, Angela Masters \u0026amp; husband Jason, Lexi Patten \u0026amp; fiance Rylan Long, Brett Patten, Courtney Patten, and Kayla Patten; great-grandchildren, Monica Patterson, Seth Patterson, Luke Patterson, Toby Patterson, Daryl Masters, and Natalie Masters. She also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 in the Cantlon-Otterness \u0026amp; Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Gentry, Jr. officiating. Escorts will be Michael Patterson, Seth Patterson, Luke Patterson, Brett Patten, Jason Masters, and Rylan Long. Interment will be in the Church Grove Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness \u0026amp; Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p. m. "James Bruce Duff, 84, of Buffalo, Missouri, departed this life for his heavenly home on Saturday, November 11th, 2023. Bruce was born on August 2nd, 1939 in Walla Walla, Washington to Othel and Esther Duff. At the age of 2, he and his parents moved back to Dallas County, Missouri, where the family was originally from. The family was completed soon after by the birth of his brother, Byron. Bruce accepted Christ as his savior at a young age in the west field of his parents' farm. He attended school in Tunas, MO and graduated in 1957. Shortly following graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Janiece Hicks, on September 8, 1957. They remained sweethearts and best friends until his death. To their union were born two sons, James Lynn and Jeffrey Brad. The family purchased land on E Hwy outside of Tunas. You couldn't really call it a farm at that time, unless you were farming timber and rock. Bruce and the family spent many hours of hard work together, clearing land, turning it into a farm. Bruce and Janiece milked cows for 27 years with the help of their children. They also worked outside jobs to provide for their family. They instilled a life of hard work and a love for family that was all centered around faith in Christ. Bruce was a long-time member of Hopewell Baptist Church. His love of horses began early. The raising and trail riding of Missouri Foxtrotters was a passion and favorite family activity. They have ridden horses everywhere from New Mexico to Canada on their many adventures. Bruce was also an avid coon hunter and loved sharing his passion of good hunting dogs with others. His love for horses and coon dogs was only surpassed by his love for family and his savior. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Othel and Esther Duff and grandson Nathan Bruce Duff. He is survived by his beautiful bride, Janiece Duff, of 66 years of marriage. By his sons, Lynn Duff and wife Cindy of Tunas, MO; Brad Duff and wife Janet of Tunas, MO. His grandchildren, Brandon Duff and wife Sharon, Jana Mankey and husband Brandon, Julie Vance and husband Sam and granddaughter Holly Duff, as well as great grandchildren; Allison Middleton and husband William, Matthew Duff and wife Marina, Caitlynn Mankey, Luke Duff, Bradley Mankey, Madison Mankey, Miriam Duff, Leah Vance and Cora Vance. He was looking forward to his first great-great-grandchild arriving in April. He is survived by his brother, Byron Ray Duff and wife Susie. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends whom he loved dearly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15th from 5-7PM, and the Celebration of Life on Thursday, November 16th at 10AM. Both services will be held at Cantlon Otterness Viets Funeral Home. "Robert (Bob) L Howerton was born March 20, 1931, to Lolan H. and Oval (Owens) Howerton in Buffalo, MO. He departed this life October 29, 2023, at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 9 days. The family attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where Bob was saved as a teenager. Bob graduated Buffalo High School in 1949 and on September 1, 1950, married Betty Dill in Aldrich, MO. In 1952, the couple moved to Kansas City, MO, where Bob was employed by the Gas Service Co. until his retirement in 1988. Bob and Betty lived and raised their family in the Odessa, MO area until their retirement in 1989 when they returned to Dallas County purchasing their home on the Niangua River. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of 73 years, four daughters, Pam and Warren Louderbaugh, Buffalo, MO; Kayla and Don Robbs, Gaffney, SC; Gina Hohensee, Buffalo, MO; and Joy and Steve Schuelke, Buffalo, MO. He is also survived by grandchildren Mark and Cybil Louderbaugh, Brett and Aelicia Louderbaugh, Jennifer (Teichman) Kerr and Jerr Kerr, Brent and Molly Teichman, Amy Dawn Sanders, deceased; Curt and Missy Darnell, Brook (Louderbaugh) Jones and Michael Jones, Matthew and Breann Darnell, Melanie (Darnell) Varner and Eddie Varner, Melody (Hohensee) Ownby and Lewis Ownby, and Robert and Ashton Hohensee, 22 Great grandchildren, four Great-great grandchildren, one sister, Karen Carney of Bartlesville, OK, Sister-in-Law Kathleen Dill, and many nieces and nephews. "Mary Kay Mackie, age 76, entered into rest on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility in Buffalo, Missouri. Mary Kay Wilcoxon was born on January 3, 1947, in Lexington, Missouri to Jefferson and Kathryn (Hughes) Wilcoxon. Mary worked in banking most of her life. She worked hard to provide for her son Chris. Mary was a dedicated mother, always making sure that Chris had what he needed, even if she had to go without. There was always a roof over their heads and food on the table. Mary enjoyed cooking and took great pride in fixing dinner each evening. Mary worked hard to instill in Chris good moral values and manners. She was an example to him on being a hard worker and being productive in life. Mary enjoyed traveling. The last trip prior to Mary's health declining was to Yellowstone with her son. They enjoyed the beauty of the national park. Mary also traveled to France and to Quebec. In Quebec, Mary and her friends watched figure skating. Mary loved watching figure skating and she also was a skater herself. Mary was always proud of her son, especially the day that her son became a father. Mary loved being a grandma and loved Hunter even more. Mary was a wonderful mother and loving grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mary is survived by her son Chris Mackie, grandson Hunter Mackie, and his mother Frances Mackie. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Cantlon-Otterness \u0026amp; Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo, Missouri.
