Dorothy M. (Boodry) Hedtke, age 86, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. She was born on November 9, 1935, the daughter of the late Leonard and Margaret (Allen) Boodry. At the age of 15, Dorothy met the love of her life and was united in marriage to Gaylord Hedtke on November 21, 1953, in New London. She formerly worked at the Hortonville Toy Factory, Bernice's Restaurant in New London, and Special Touch in Dale. Dorothy was known for her quick wit, one-liners, fancy pants, sassy pants, funny socks, and beautiful smile. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. Dorothy loved rummage sales, especially with Ev Hedtke and the other Dorothy Hedtke. She was known for her leather goods, a belt in the mouth, and a boot in the butt - usually it was well deserved. Dorothy is survived by her husband Gaylord; daughters, Connie (Erwin) Zick, Bonnie Dain, Brenda (Gerald) Lease, and Rita (Mike) Heinz; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Margaret Boodry; a son Gaylord M. Hedtke; a brother Allen Boodry; four sisters, Geraldine Kamke, Lorraine Jensen, Opal Meckolechek, and Caroline Boodry, and a son-in-law Gary Dain. Funeral services for Dorothy will be at 11:00 a. m. on Friday, June 24, 2022, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 a. m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery, Town of Caledonia.
