Charlene K. Beard, 81, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away on December 7, 2023. She was born on July 5, 1942, in Fremont, Ohio, to the late Arthur "Pete" and Vonda (Perin) Bennehoff.
She was a proud graduate of Green Springs High School. After completing her education, she dedicated her working life, serving as a production operator at Whirlpool from 1967-1986.
Charlene was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald Beard, whom she married on August 20, 1960, and a loving mother to her four children. Family meant everything to Charlene, and she found joy in creating lasting memories with them.
She will be remembered as a true sports fanatic, and a devout Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Cavaliers, Fremont Ross basketball and football fan. On top of sports, Charlene enjoyed crafting and scrapbooking. So much so that she opened her own craft store, Calico & Country, which operated 3 or 4 years.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Troy Beard, Traci (Darrin "DJ") Szymanowski, Tonya (Brent) Michael and Trent (Sara) Beard; grandchildren, Kaleb (Val) Szymanowski, Kelsey Szymanowski, Collin Michael, Cayden Michael, Alex Benavides, and Lydia Beard; and great-grandchildren, Payton and Karson. She is also survived by many cherished relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Grayson Lee-Michael Garza.
On December 17, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 PM there will be a Celebration of Life Open House at Mr. Smith's Coffee House, 140 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870, for a time of sharing and memories. In honor of Charlene's wishes, there will be a Graveside Service at Green Springs Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Charlene's memory to the Fremont Ross Athletic Boosters.Show more
