98, passed away Sept. 30, 2023. Survived by her children, William R. Courney (Beverly), Gail Burr, Michael J. Courney (Inez) and Katherine C. Courney (Eric); grandchildren, Sally Owens (Richard), Lisa Cordova (Antonio), Donna Lewis (Cody), Patrick Bustamonte (Vickie), Veronica Bingum (Brian) and Dawn Bustamonte (Robert); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, William E. Courney; parents, G. Arthur and Selma Getz; and daughter, Susan M. Payton. Dorothy was born February 7, 1925, in Monte Vista, Colorado. In addition to being a homemaker, she sold Avon for 36 years. She enjoyed spending time with family. She loved going to the Sand Dunes National Park. She also loved dogs and had more than one rescue dog. Dorothy was the sweetest, kindest person ever. Her 5 children were blessed to have the best mother they could have asked for. Lieutenant Colonel William "Bill" H. Thousand left this earth for his eternal adventure on November 28th, 2023. In 1943, at the age of 17 he began his 23-year career in The United States Marine Corp. He saw action in WWII, Korea war and Vietnam. During his time of service, Bill was recognized on multiple occasions. He was awarded a Letter of Commendation with combat V for Korean action. In addition, he received The Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation with Combat Star, and two Combat Stars (WW II Victory Medal, Japan Occupational Medal). In 2017, while on an "Honor Flight" trip to Washington D. C. , he was personally recognized by Vice President Pence. Following his retirement from the Marines, Bill committed time as a member of the Footnotes Dance Club, Colorado Mountain Club and the Eagles. He was an avid horseman, hiker, cyclist, skier and dancer. He would always be found hosting and mixing drinks at the post adventure tailgate parties. Bill and his wife Nancy competed and won several dance competitions and traveled the world together. Hand-in-hand, they visited 48 countries. William is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Thousand; Children, Jacqueline Thousand (Richard Villa). Michael Thousand (Kathy), Marian Alexander (Alan), Diane Poulos, Jonna Baker (Jim Dunn), Pete Poulos, Tom Poulos, and Adrian Foster; Grandchildren, Mitzi Cordova, Tonya Mahan (Sean), Chica Stein (Jason), Rebecca Villa, Chang Prak, Catherine Baker (Ryan Newton), Sarah Baker (Juana), Timothy Baker; Thirteen great-grandchildren; And eight great-great grandchildren. Alicia Perdue, 77, passed away Nov. 29, 2023. She was born April 27, 1946 to parents, Art and Amalia (Montoya) Chavez. Both precede her in death along with her great grandchild, Jordyn Aragon, brothers, Robert Montoya, Gilbert Montoya, Joe (Elizabeth) Montoya, Margarito (Josie) Montoya, Gabriel Montoya, Virgil (Alvita) Montoya, Max (Juanita) Montoya, Charles Montoya, Alma (Joe) Cruz, Richard Chavez, Janice (Walt) Fox and special nephew, Bobby Montoya Alicia enjoyed cooking and always enjoyed having Friday night dinners. She was such a wonderful cook, and you never left her house hungry. She loved her dog, Lady, she was her four-legged companion. She enjoyed shopping, QVC and antiquing was her favorite. Her other joys were camping and going on vacation. She enjoyed watching Hallmark, especially the Christmas movies. Music was in her soul; Oldies, Bob Marley, and Country making sure everyone was in tune. Alicia had a great sense of humor she was always laughing and joking. She was a big prankster. She was the favorite auntie, they considered her a second mom. Alicia's greatest joy was her family, who she loved dearly; instilling faith and education. She shared her words of wisdom, life lessons, her love for each of them and to care compassionately for others. Alicia is survived by her spouse, Gary Perdue; children, Randy (Karen) Montoya; Tracy (Scott Maldonado) Montoya and Brian Montoya; siblings, Rosella (Joe) Montoya, Beverly (John) Brndiar, Lawrence (Linda) Chavez, Arlene (Anthony) Cordova, Ernie (Hazel) Chavez; special sisters-in-laws, Elizabeth Montoya and Mary Montoya; sister-in-law, Frieda Chavez; 3 grandchildren, Tosha (Diego) Minnich, TyLynn (Sergio) Aragon, Joey Martinez,; 4 great-grandchild, Jaidyn, Raiden, Neyeli, Matheuz; many relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
