Phillis Kelly

Phillis Kelly

Age - 52

December 7, 2023

GAROFALO KELLY, PhillisJuly 14, 1971 - November 28, 2023After a long courageous battle with cancer, Phillis passed away peacefully surrounded by love at Providence Care Hospital into the arms of her sister Graziella who had been patiently waiting. Born in Kingston, Ontario, to her parents John and Maria Garofalo on July 14, 1971. Predeceased by her sister Graziella Vander Baaren. Phillis is lovingly survived by her caring partner, Peter Reynolds, and loving mother to Christopher, Nicholas, and Gabriel Kelly, she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her brother Francesco (Michelle) Garofalo, brother- in- law Tony Vander Baaren (Heidi), Mackenzie and Jonah Reynolds, Roxie and Rick Kelly. Always remembered as the fun Zia (aunt) by her niece Veronica Nieser (Mitchell) and nephews Justin Vander Baaren (Valerie), Jake Garofalo (Brendan), Samuel Vander Baaren (Maddie), John Vander Baaren and Ben Garofalo, her great nieces Violet and Aurora Vander Baaren who brought so much light to her life, her goddaughter Larissa Bell and her many aunts, uncles, cousins and so many close friends. Phillis lived life to the fullest, and loved with her whole heart. Along with her sister Graziella and many cousins, she blissfully played as a child along the shores of Lake Ontario. Taking in every ounce of life, Phillis loved to travel as an adult on her many trips to Italy, Hong Kong, the Caribbean and around the world. After her marriage, Phillis moved to New Brunswick for a new career at Remsoft, and most importantly started a family with the adoption of her cherished boys. Phillis had an exuberance for life, a true "joie de vivre" and could often be found belting out either Whitney Houston or Rush songs at the top of her lungs at home. She loved camping and swimming in lakes, but was equally comfortable cutting up a dance floor for hours on end. She had a wonderful free-spirit and was always up for a random, spontaneous road trip (destination unknown) with her long-time and loyal best friend, Jeanine. Her quick, funny sense of humour was with her right up until her final days and provided comfort and joy to her family and friends who loved her so deeply. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral Mass to be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 490 Days Road, Kingston, ON and followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, 718 Division Street, Kingston, ON at 11:45 am. Reception to follow at Our Lady of Lourdes after interment. In lieu of flowers, please offer a prayer in Phillis' memory.Show more
