Mary Celestine-Michelle Barbee, 73, of Durham, N. C. passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 19, 2023 after a long battle with COPD. Mary was born to Celestine Saucier Ouellette and Frances Van Luden Stiles on August 18, 1950 in Saalfelden, Austria. She received her Bachelor's degree in Accounting. You taught us love, patience and endurance. You taught us how to pray and led by example. You praised us all whenever we did good and pointed out our mistakes with that gentle voice. You encouraged us to work hard in life as you did. Mary leaves behind her Spouse Don Michael Holt of 15 years, Children Lisa Michelle Ouellette, Michelle (Andy) Anna Renee Brunson-Monica, Jason Andrew LaRatta, Rebecca (Raja) LaRatta Ghaznavi. Grandchildren Curtis Ouellette, Kyle Birch, Gabrielle (Micheal) Cruz Martinez, Jacob LaRatta, Dana Monica, Elizabeth Monica, Rayhan Ghaznavi, Stefan Ghaznavi, Cornelius LaRatta, Azrael LaRatta. Plus three great grandchildren and all her family friends. I pray for the soul of our dear mother, oh Lord, and that you keep her safe in heaven. If Roses Grow in Heaven If roses grow in heaven, Lord, please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles, who departed from this world on December 5, 2023. He left behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and invaluable contributions that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on March 4, 1966, in Bristol, Tennessee, Charles graced the world with his presence and embarked on a journey filled with compassion, determination, and an unwavering spirit. He touched the lives of many through his remarkable passion for life, family and friends. Charles graduated from Virginia High School and received two bachelor's degrees one from Radford University and one from Strayer University. Charles was an extraordinary individual, known for his unwavering love of the Dallas Cowboys. He approached every challenge with resilience, inspiring those around him to strive to be true to oneself and be kind to others. Beyond his accomplishments, Charles will be fondly remembered for his contagious laughter, genuine smile, and the way he effortlessly brought joy to every gathering. His ability to connect with others on a deep level created lasting friendships and touched countless lives. In his family, Charles is preceded by his mother Margaret (Madison) Birdwell, father William A Birdwell Sr. , and sister Georgia (Birdwell) Njagu. He leaves behind his sister Teresa (Birdwell) McNeal, brother William A. Birdwell Jr. , (Dianne Jordan), and brother- in-law Paul Njagu. He was a beloved Uncle to a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces/ nephews, and his presence in the family will be deeply missed. The loss of Charles, otherwise known as CC leaves an unfillable void in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. While his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit and the memories he created will continue to be cherished. A celebration of Charles' (CC's) life will be announced at a later date where friends and family will gather to honor and commemorate the remarkable person he was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Sickle Cell Foundation in honor of Charles' (CC's) memory. CC may have departed this world, but his legacy of love, compassion, and inspiration will live on forever in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
