Doris (Hajzus) Vasses, 63, of Colver, passed away peacefully June 20, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Doris was born August 24, 1958 in Colver, daughter of the late John Sr. and Sophie (Makosy) Hajzus. Preceded in death by brother, John Jr. , and sister Karen Grosik. Survived by husband, David Vasses, children; Valorie (Michael) Pettenati, Dewey ( Annie McMillen), Jessi (Eric) Hallett, and Jason (Holly Dignan), grandchildren; Hannah (Jeffrey Rodgers), Wyatt, Ian, Gina, Zachary, Evan, Caelyx, Julia, Xander, and Sloan, 1 great granddaughter, Mia, brothers and sister; Dave (Dwina), Tom (Patty), Paula (Dave) Steinberg, and Paul (Katrina). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Doris loved babies, doting on her grandchildren, reading, and crocheting. As an avid crocheter, she blessed many families with beautiful baby, prayer, and throw afghans over the years. When she wasn't home reading or crocheting, she could likely be found visiting her many grandchildren. She retired from Sheetz Corporation in 2018 after 30 years of service. At Doris' request, there will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2022 at noon at the Colver Fire Hall. Doris requested all attending the celebration wear red and share happy memories. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hastings EMS or Colver Fire Department in Doris' memory.
