Doris Tabor Obituary

Doris Jeanette Tabor, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Garden City. She was born on December 30, 1940, in Minneola, Kansas, to Earl and Edith (Foster) Harris. As a young girl, she attended Minneola elementary schools before graduating from Minneola High School. She attended Garden City Community College where she was a cheerleader and where she met her football star, Gary "Corky" Tabor. They were married on May 31, 1959. Doris worked part-time as a bookkeeper at Scott Auction, but her main focus was her family. Doris spent most of her life caring for others, including her parents, her daughter and extended family. She loved playing the piano, taking the grandchildren to the zoo, and spoiling them at every chance she had. Family was her everything. Doris is survived by her husband, Gary "Corky" Tabor, and her sons Todd Tabor and Brian (Tammy) Tabor both of Garden City, and one brother Ronald Harris of Minneola; 4 grandchildren, Brett Tabor, Kevin (Brandi) Tabor, Stephanie (Brandon) Baudin, and Sarah (Benji) Wilmore; and 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ethan, Jacob, Maddox, and Boone. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Edith Harris, a daughter Teri Lynn Tabor, a grand-daughter Lauren Lynn Tabor, a brother Norman Harris, and two sisters, Phyllis Poulain and Margaret Davis. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Teri Lynn Tabor scholarship fund at Garden City Community College in care of Garnand Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 27, at 10:30 a. m. at Garnand Funeral Home located at 412 North 7th St, Garden City, KS 67846. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
