Doris Ann was born May 1, 1929 at the family home in Humboldt, Tennessee, to Clint and Mary Chatham Blackmon. She was the eldest of six children. She was educated in Medina, Tennessee and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1947. She was married to Leroy Stahl. He was in the Navy and she enjoyed her life with him. They had two children together, Mary and Arno Stahl. They moved to Mesquite, Texas and raised their family. Doris continued to reside in Mesquite for over 60 years. Her final years were spent in Kaufman, Texas, where she passed away on September 5, 2023. She was 94 years old. Doris was a mother and housewife for her early adult life. After raising her children, she enjoyed working several administrative positions when she returned to the workforce. Doris joined Mesquite Chapter #887 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron and served as Secretary of the Chapter for many years. She cherished the many lifelong friendships she found in the Order. She was preceded in death by: Her Parents, Clint and Mary Blackmon; the Father of her children, Leroy Stahl; both of her Children, Arno Stahl and Mary Waller; Grandson, Christopher Shropshire; and Siblings, Robert Blackmon, Sylvia Boldreghini and Rosalind Champion. She is survived by: Her two loving Sisters, Jane Williams of Medina, Tennessee and Margaret Blackmon of Memphis, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Sabrina Shropshire and Scott Shropshire, also many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Doris was a sweet and beautiful soul with a kind heart. She will be dearly missed. May she Rest in Heavenly Peace.

Roy Lee Baskins, 73, passed away in the early morning hours of November 20,2023, in his home in Kaufman, Texas. Roy began his fight with Myelofibrosis inApril of 2022 and as hard as he tried, his tired body finally succumbed to this incurable disease. Roy was born on September 1, 1950 to Clarence Edward Baskins and Doris Virginia (Crotts) Baskins in New Hope, Alabama. Roy was the first grandson of Leonard and Mamie Crotts and they loved and spoiled him so much that he chose to live with them during his childhood and school age years. Roy attended elementary school at White's Elementary in Savannah, Tennessee and graduatedfrom Hardin County High School in 1969. After graduating, he took a job at a crate factory, Hassel's Lumber Company, where he worked for several years making Coca-Cola crates. After Hassel's, he took a job managing a small grocery store and he really enjoyed his time there. While he was still living in Tennessee, Roy started going to Nixon United Pentecostal Church and soon received the gift of the Holy Ghost under Pastor Cecil Robinson. This was the beginning of a major change in his life, not only was he committing his life to God but he was also introduced to Mary Louella Norton by his pastor. Their romance began by mail correspondence and occasional phonecalls. After meeting in person, they fell in love at first sight and Roy decided to follow Mary Lou to Texas. They were married on January 19, 1985 in Balch Springs. He worked various jobs in Dallas and eventually started working at Sears, where he worked for many years. They finally chose to settle down and purchase their first home in Kaufman in 2000. In November 2008, Roy made Greater Apostolic Tabernacle his final church home in Balch Springs with Andrew Elms as pastor. In 2014, he took a job with Walmart in Kaufman and worked as a Maintenance Custodian Associate and was loved by all that worked with him. Roy and Mary Lou celebrated 38 years of sharing their love with each other in January of 2023. Roy is survived by the love of his life - his wife, Mary and stepdaughter, Stacy Smith and husband Ron of Rowlett, Texas, and 2 grandchildren, Zachary Smith and wife, Elizabeth of Fate, Zane Smith of Rowlett and 1 great grandson, Elliott Smith. He is also survived by brother, Ricky Baskins of Selmer, Tennessee, brother, Randy Baskins and wife, Belynda of Jacksonville, Florida, and sister-in-law, Marian (Virginia) Johnson and husband, Larry of Terrell, Texas, along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Roy was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Edward Baskins; mother, Doris Virginia (Crotts) Baskins; brother, Bobby Joe Baskins; sister, Geraldine Baskins; and sister-in-law, Rose Mary Baskins. Ruben Garza Reyes, Sr. , 82, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2023. Ruben was born on December 28, 1940, to Felix Reyes and San Juana Garza in Allende, Neuvo Leon, Mexico. Ruben has lived in the Kaufman area for 60 years. He worked for Western Electric before getting into the concrete business. He started out driving a concrete truck, and then operated Reyes Construction for many years. Ruben enjoyed playing pool, cards, dice, and a game called Captain Cruise Ship. Ruben had a love for animals, especially his pet parrot. He enjoyed camping, and his musical instruments, the accordion and harmonica. He loved his family, and would do anything for his children. Ruben had many friends; he never met a stranger, and he would go out of his way to help anyone. His parents, son; Marcos Reyes, granddaughter; Maria, great-grandchild; Adrian, and siblings; Alonzo Reyes, Concepcion Garza, Ludivina Reyes, and Alicia Reyes Villa preceded him death. On November 1, 2023, Nancy Sue Garner Hollingsworth, 82, of Kaufman, TX went peacefully to be with Jesus. Nancy was born March 22, 1941, to Emmitt Harold and Ina Belle Garner in Gainesville, TX. She grew up and graduated high school in Crane, TX. Nancy went on to further her education at Sul Ross State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. During this time, she met Jim Hollingsworth, and they married in 1962. The family settled in DeSoto, TX, where Nancy raised her children and taught school for 32 years. Nancy attended DeSoto Presbyterian Church and spent many years serving Jesus through worshipping in the choir. Nancy was known to many as Songbird because of her beautiful gift of song. She used this gift to spread warmth and light throughout her life; a legacy to be filled by many in her family. Nancy spent several years traveling and seeing the world, rarely refusing an opportunity to be adventurous. Nancy was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grand Mother. Her parents Emmitt Harold and Ina Belle, and sister Ann Gregory preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Pam Thompson and husband Tim, Catharine Burgess and husband Scott, and David Hollingsworth; grandchildren: Jessica Broome and husband Colin, Hillary Blazek and husband Dalton, Tyler Thompson, Kendall Tucker and husband Richard, Weston Thompson, Hunter Burgess and wife Bailey, Grace Burgess and husband Kel, Victoria Faith Hollingsworth, Alexandra Kay Hollingsworth, and Collin David Hollingsworth; great grandchildren: Reilly Broome, Karoline Brockway, Beckham Broome, Lily Drake, Letty Blazek, Jack Tucker and Joe Tucker; great-great grandchild: Isaiah Broome and sister Linda Boothe and husband Steve; numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
