"Diane Kelly DuPont Journey Diane Kelly DuPont (70) was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She was born to the late John Wesley Kelly and Clida Mae Kelly on November 7, 1953, in Miami, Florida and was one of eight children. Growing up, she loved arts and crafts. Even as an adult, she enjoyed coloring and creating beautiful wreaths for any holiday or special occasion. She loved to travel and spend summer days at the beach; the sounds of the ocean brought her serenity and peace. She instilled this love in her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved an outing to the casino - especially to play the slot machines. Even in her last days, she was trying to plan a trip to get there. After graduating from James M. Bennett High School (Salisbury, Maryland) in the spring of 1970, Diane would carry her love for serving and helping others through all her life experiences. Shortly after receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certifications, she would launch her career in healthcare at Holly Center (Salisbury, Maryland). She continued a career as a teacher for Special Education and Intellectual Disabilities at Cecil County Special Education Center (Elkton, Maryland), from which she retired in 2001. She cared deeply for her patients and students and learned inclusive skills, such as sign language, which she would later teach her grandchildren. Diane was strong-willed and spontaneous at times. She had an enormous heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and was full of wisdom. She was kind, loving, empathetic, and nurturing. She really enjoyed spending time with her family. Lots of this time was spent cooking, listening to music, singing, dancing, laughing, and playing games like UNO, Rummy, and Scrabble. Making memories was very important to her. Diane's faith and love for Christ shined through every aspect of her life. One of her favorite sayings was "I walk by faith and not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). She truly lived her life this way. She was a praying woman; constantly praying with and for her children and grandchildren. She found true joy and comfort in reading her Bible and attending Sunday Service. Over the course of her life, Diane was an active member of Wesley Temple United Methodist Church (Salisbury, Maryland) and New Calvary Baptist Church (Wilmington, Delaware). She always knew her final destination would be with The Lord. Diane was so proud of her family; she would show them off in photo albums and brag about their accomplishments every chance she'd get. She was a great and patient mother who adored her girls. She taught her children to walk to their own rhythm in life, which would carry down to the next generation. She is survived by: her two daughters, Rosalind Hall and Jammie Brown; four grandchildren, Kelly Rhem, Hamyra Taylor, Aizha Brown, and Jaden Brown; three brothers, John Robinson, Benjamin Kelly, and Marvin Kelly; former husband, Wardell DuPont, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clida Mae Kelly, father, John Wesley Kelly, brothers, Keith Kelly, Christopher Van Kelly, and Ozell Robinson, sister, Gloria Jean Kelly and former husband, James R. Elliott. Diane had a smile that could light up a room. She will be remembered for her beautiful soul and kind spirit. "Show more
