Doris Jean Dodd, of Shelbina, MO, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina, MO. Doris was born January 24, 1935, in rural Shelbina, MO, to James Harry and Ruby Merle (McClure) Blackford. She was united in marriage on April 18, 1953, to Robert Lee Dodd at the Christian Church in Shelbina, MO. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1997. Doris was the oldest of ten children and married into Bob's family of twelve children. Doris went to Beatley country school from first grade thru eighth grade. She was married at 18 years old and after graduating Shelbina High School in 1953, joined Bob as an army wife in Fort Sill, OK. After completing basic training, they moved to Fort Hood, TX. After discharge from the Army, Bob worked for Railway Express Agency and they moved to several towns as a relief employee loading and unloading trucks as other employees took vacation. After REA closed they moved to Shelbina, MO, where Bob worked at John Duffy's MFA gas station and Doris was a checkout clerk at Rose's IGA foodliner. After Doris' parents retired and when Mike was a baby, they bought her family farm from Jim and Ruby Blackford. She worked alongside Bob on the farm and cooked and sewed for the family. She would feed the hay crews a big fried chicken meal and make doughnuts for the neighbors that came to unload the seed shipment. After the kids were raised, she worked as the board clerk and part-time secretary for Public Water Supply District # 1 of Shelby County for 23 years. Some of her proudest moments were seeing her siblings graduate from high school. She enjoyed following the family history and sharing it. She liked the competition of playing games with her brothers, sisters, kids, and grandkids. Through the years Doris enjoyed being present when the grandkids participated in baseball, basketball, football, band, choir, cheerleading, blue grass music, fiddling, and quiz bowl. She had a special joy of rekindling old friendships and cherishing new friends at Salt River Nursing home, while playing 11 point pitch, dominoes, and dice games. Doris was baptized as a member of Kendall Mount Olive Church and had a special fondness of the companionship of the Sunday school class. She sewed with them for the church's missionary work. Doris is survived by three children, Patrick Dodd (Sherry) of Neosho, MO, Peggy O'Laughlin (Randy) and Michael Dodd (April) all of Shelbina; six grandchildren, Andy Dodd, Mark O'Laughlin, Jaimee (O'Laughlin) Witmer, Johnny O'Laughlin, Jason and Adam Dodd; great-grandchildren, Larkin Witmer and Emma and Gunnar Dodd. She is also survived by six sisters and brothers, Ann Chilcoat of Midland, TX, Rita Wilkerson (Raymond) of Paris, MO, Faye Chitwood of Elizabethtown, KY, Alan Blackford (Lannette), Lester Blackford (Ida), and Jimmy Blackford all of Hunnewell, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Molly and Johnny Latimer, brother, Harry Blackford, brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Marilyn Blackford, and brothers-in-law, Jim Chilcoat and Bob Chitwood. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. A visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Kendall Mt. Olive Cemetery, located near Shelbina, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors or Kendall Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Glenna Sue Eagan, 72, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Clarence Care Center in Clarence, MO. Glenna was born on October 11, 1951, in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of William Glenn "Pete" and Mary Sue (Burditt) Greening. She was a 1969 graduate of North Shelby High School, and then received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Truman State University. Glenna was united in marriage to Ralph Eagan on October 6, 1973 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelbina, MO. Along with her husband Ralph, Glenna was an owner and licensed funeral director at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home. Glenna was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Altar Society, P. E. O. 76ers Club, South Shelby Booster Club and 49ers Club. She enjoyed hosting family meals, shopping, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, collecting Santa Clauses, drinking coffee with her friends at the Chicken Coop, and going to grandchildren's ballgames. She is survived by her husband, Ralph of the home; three children, Corey Eagan and wife Maria of Shelbina, MO, Kyle Eagan and wife Megan of Macon, MO, Katie Barton and husband Jeff of Shelbina, MO; ten grandchildren, Melanna Eagan, Pryce Eagan, Kylee Barton, Keagan Barton, Dexter Eagan, Aurora Eagan, Archer Eagan, Josie Barton, Margot Eagan, and Isla Eagan; one sister Kim Saalborn and husband Richard of Mendon, IL and their children, Scott (Erin) Saalborn and Haley (Garrett) Hill; two foreign exchange sons, Seba Zacarias and wife Lucia of Progreso, Agrentina, and Paulo Caballol of Chile; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenna was preceded in death by her parents and one infant grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelbina, MO. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Shelbina, MO. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 3:30 to 7pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with a prayer service starting at 3 pm. George Leroy Morgan, Jr. , age 72, of Lentner, MO, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, MO. George was born on June 18, 1951, in Savanna, IL, the son of George Leroy and Winnie Arlena (Pruden) Morgan, Sr. He was united in marriage to Erna Strubbe on March 8, 1979 in Shelbyville, MO. She survives of the home. He is also survived by father, George Leroy Morgan, Sr. ; four children, Jason Baker of Lentner, MO, Amanda Schwindt (Jeff) of Hillsboro, KS, Georgiana Madonia of MO, and Jessie Spaans (Peter) of Troy, MO; eight grandchildren, Audrey Deason (Judge), Jaden, Samantha, and Claire Schwindt, Travis Gale, Lorie Palmer, and Morgan and Amelia Spaans; three great-grandchildren, Presley, Selby, and Bailiff Deason; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother. George was a 1969 graduate of South Shelby High School. He attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church and later Mt. Zion Christian Church in Hannibal, MO. George was a car man and MOPAR cars were his passion. He enjoyed competing in demolition derbies and dirt track racing until his health declined at which time he became a fan of watching them. George always enjoyed hot air balloons shows and attended every year. He loved visiting with people and his fondest memories made were with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 4 pm-6 pm at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Alias Juanita Moore, age 91, of Shelbina, MO, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at her residence in Shelbina. Juanita was born February 12, 1932 in Holt Summit, MO, the daughter of John and Alias Rebecca (Bills) Hiatte. On October 24, 1953 she was united in marriage to Edgar Moore in Columbia, MO. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2013. Juanita is survived by eight children: Danny Moore of Macon, Greg Moore of Shelbina, Phillip Moore and wife Mitzi of Jefferson City, Tim Moore of Shelbina, Michaele Moore of Shelbina, Melanie Vannoy and husband Steve of Shelbyville, Marilyn Porter and husband Michael of Columbia and Andrea Kunce and husband Bradley of Shelbina; 19 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar; one daughter Donna Gayle Moore; one granddaughter, Kirsten Porter; two great-granddaughters, Wren Harvey and Lydia Esloo; five brothers, Olin Hiatte, Ralph Hiatte, Charles Hiatte, Billy Hiatte, and Floyd Hiatte; and one sister, Mabel Garrison. Juanita was a graduate of Jefferson City High School in 1949. She received an Associate's degree in home economics from Jefferson City Junior College. Juanita was a member of the Shelbina Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching birds, cooking, sewing, and caring for her children, grandchildren, and adopted children. Juanita loved country rides with Tim, Greg, and Michaele. Most of all, her favorite memories were made spending time with her husband and family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Harley Lee Kropf, age 80, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at his daughter's home in Jefferson City, MO. Harley was born on February 2, 1943, in Shelbina, MO, the son of Walter Harley and Majel Ruth (Wear) Kropf. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Mason on January 24, 1965 in Ballwin, MO. She survives. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat, one son, Jeff Kropf and wife Raven of Waconia, MN, one daughter, Nikki Payne and husband Sam of Jefferson City, MO; four grandchildren, Flannery and Willa Kropf of Waconia, MN, and Maisy and Zada Payne of Jefferson City, MO; and one brother, Charles Kropf and wife Linda of Shelbina, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents. Harley graduated from Shelbina High School and served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Harley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbina, member of York Rite Masonry and Scottish Rite. He was Grand High Priest for of Royal Arch Masons for the state of Missouri in 2005. He was a Shelter Insurance agent for 42 years in Shelbina. Harley served on the Shelbina school board, volunteer fire board, fair board, South Shelby Booster Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinal baseball, St. Louis Blues hockey, bowling, softball, and watching Maisy play softball. He liked to garden and tend to his fruit trees. Harley enjoyed being around people, including the coffee group at the Chicken Coop. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and being able to watch his granddaughters grow up. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Greening Eagan Hayes funeral home in Shelbina, MO. A masonic service will begin at 4:30 pm on Friday. The funeral will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Shelbina, MO. Burial will be held in the Shelbina Cemetery following the service. Judy was born on October 23, 1947, in Shelbina, MO, the daughter of Horace "Tate" and Geraldine (Million) Simmons. She was united in marriage to Clement "Pete" Gunn, Jr. on June 6, 1971 at the First Baptist Church in Shelbina, MO. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2021. She is survived by two sons, Eric Christian Gunn (Kathy) of Hannibal, MO, and Ian Edward Gunn (Katy) of Monmouth, IL; grandchildren, Katy Cole, Andrew Gunn, and Emily Gunn; siblings, Larry Simmons (Chris) of Quincy, IL, Jerry Simmons (Karen) of Shelbina, MO, and Connie Rubison (John) of Shelbina, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Pete. Judy was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal, MO and formerly of the Shelbina First Baptist Church. She worked in the license office in Shelbina, operated a daycare in her home, and worked at Cerro for several years. Judy enjoyed helping in the kitchen at church, walking, landscaping, and reading. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, with Pastor Mark Albee officiating. Rex D. Hollenbeck, age 91, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Clarence Care Center in Clarence, MO. Rex was born July 3, 1932, in Lentner, MO, the son of Victor and Catherine (Williamson) Hollenbeck. Rex graduated from Shelbina High School in 1949 and then earned a degree in Agriculture in 1953 at the University of Missouri. While attending the University of Missouri, he was in the ROTC program and later entered the US Army, where he served during the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant. Upon returning from Korea, he began farming with his father. He was united in marriage to Marianne Keith on November 5, 1961. They had three daughters, Terresa, Susan, and Kim and one son, Kent. He was later united in marriage to Helga Thorne in Lawton, OK on September 12, 1993. Rex was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church and served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher. He was involved with several organizations, including the Soil & Water Conservation District, Community State Bank board, Gideon's International, and the National Texas Longhorn Association. In addition to raising Texas Longhorn cattle for over 40 years, Rex worked as a crop insurance adjuster for 30 years and at Baughman Grain Bins traveling worldwide to every continent, with the exception of Antarctica, visiting a total of 38 countries. Helga and Rex enjoyed their winters in Florida and Texas meeting new friends. He is survived by his wife Helga Hollenbeck; two daughters, Terresa Lindstamer (Bryan) of Lakeland, FL and Kim Hutcherson (Paul) of Clarence, MO; one stepson, Harold Thorne (Donna) of Geronimo, OK; 17 grandchildren, Luke, Leah, Miles, Mylan, Camra, Ethan, Isabella, Josh, Jared, Mandy, Melissa, Justin, Jason, Jacob, Chasson, Shannon, and Sheldon ; 22 great grandchildren; one sister, Lura Jane Kirby (Charles) of Shelbina, MO; one niece, Lori Wilt (David) of Shelbina; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marianne Hollenbeck on June 29, 1992; infant son, Kent Hollenbeck on March 11, 1969; one daughter, Susan Bentley on April 20, 2019; and one nephew, Chris Kirby. Rex D. Hollenbeck, age 91, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Clarence Care Center in Clarence, MO.
