Dorene Penney Obituary

Dorene J. Penney, formerly Dorene J. McDonald of East China, MI passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit. She was born Dorene Joann McDonald in Manistique, MI to Carol and Gordon McDonald. She grew up in Flint and attended school there. She married Steven Penney in August of 2016 at a Nazarene Church. She loved spending time with family, friends and her cat Heather. Dorene worked at a nursing home in Grand Blanc and Harbor Springs. Dorene loved her Lord and Savior. She attended a Baptist Church in St. Clair, MI. Dorene is survived by her husband Steven Penney of East China, MI; stepdaughter Wendy of Elkhart, IN; brothers Charles (Nona) McDonald of Harbor Springs and Richard McDonald of Petoskey. Also surviving are two nieces and two nephews Velma, Molly, Eddie, Jason and his family: two great nieces and two great nephews Kimberly, Jennifer, Jonathan and Christopher. She was preceded in death her mother Carol Champion, father Gordon McDonald, stepfather William "Bill" Champion, brother Kenneth, brother James and sister Marjorie Sherman. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday May 15, 2023 at McKinley Township Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Center Township Hall.
