Roger Joseph Datres III, 53, of Wapakoneta, passed away unexpectedly the early morning of Tuesday, November 28, 2023. He was born on July 15, 1970 in Stratford, NJ to Roger J. & Irene (Kennedy) Datres Jr. , who have preceded him in death. On July 2, 2005, he married Diana L. Dillon, who survives. Survivors also include five children, Andy Smelser, of Japan, Jon Smelser, of Toledo, Valerie Blake, of Marysville, Daniele Datres, of Wapakoneta and Roger J. & Alyssa Datres IV, of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Spencer, Henlee and Josey; two sisters-in-law, Pam & Mike Walls and Sheryle Hutchins, both of Michigan; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Roger was preceded in death by his sister, April Atkinson; and brother-in-law, Mike Dillon. Roger had worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years, before working at the Honda Anna plant while his kids were growing up. He had also worked for eXp Realty and was proud to have sold two of his children their first home. Recently Roger had returned to trucking, which he truly enjoyed. In his free time, he loved to explore new hobbies, especially ones that allowed him to express his creativity. He was always surrounded by music, whether it was jazz at home, 80's hair bands in the semi, or playing his drums. Although he was ready to travel (by road only) at a moment's notice, Roger was most content at home, surrounded by family, friends, and his dogs. The family is blessed with many memories of Roger, just hanging out, grilling, or talking about classic cars. Remembered most will be his attempts to get others to smile. . . his funny faces and little jokes, he delighted in bringing joy to others. Services will begin at 1:00 p. m. on December 2, 2023 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Evangelist Richard Nepaul will officiate. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a. m. until the start of the service. In keeping with Roger's wishes, he will then be cremated. Marjorie Anne Beam, 92, of Jackson Center, passed away at 5:35 p. m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Wapakoneta Manor in Wapakoneta, Ohio. She was born on March 28, 1931, in Akron, Ohio, a daughter of the late Sherman O. Beam and Helen G. (Boyd) Beam. Marjorie is survived by her brother, Charles "Bud" (Carol) Beam; a grandson, Timothy Jackson; five nieces, Cheryl, Cathy, Cindi, Candy, and Casey;13 great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Barb Wical, Jean Harmon, and Barb Sailor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Christy Ellis. A retired teacher, Marjorie graduated from the Moody Bible Institute, New Orleans Seminary, Carson Newman University, and earned her master’s degree from Wright State University. She taught elementary school in Maui, Franklin, and Jackson Center Local Schools. She was honored by the Jackson Center Education Foundation as a recipient of the Teachers Touch Lives award. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she served with Circle 1. She was also a member of the Shelby County Retired Teachers and the American Club. Marjorie began traveling in Tanzania at the age of 70. Since that time, she founded an orphanage in Bariadi, Tanzania and had a nursery school named in her honor. Visitation will be from 9:30 a. m. to 11 a. m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church, 607 S. Main Street in Jackson Center, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 a. m. Eva Theresa Allen, 89, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 1:46 a. m. , Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Vancrest of St. Marys. She was born a Chippewa Indian, on June 30, 1934 in St. Ignace, MI to Albert H. and Frances B. (Smith) Aslin who preceded her in death. On July 6, 1953, she married Roy Allen, who passed away on March 7, 2007. To this union, three children were born. Eva is survived by her son, Sam & Vickie Allen and her daughter, Sandra (Allen) Koch, both of Wapakoneta. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug Allen. Survivors also include five grandchildren, Candy Allen, of Lima; Bill (Rana) Goodwin, of St. Marys, Wendy (Jared) Bennett, of Lima, Leah (Marty) Jackson, of Wapakoneta, and Lacy Koch, of Wapakoneta; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; nephew, John Aslin Jr. ; cousins, Warren R. and Lyle Smith; and special friends, Tim and Jim; all who will miss her greatly. Eva was also preceded in death by siblings, Doris Aslin-Allen, Alberta Aslin-Chippewa, Fred Aslin, Peter Aslin, Violet Aslin, Ted Aslin, John Aslin, and George Aslin; and special friends, Mary Vincent and Rex Mantooth. Eva was an avid bowler, enjoyed puzzles, and reading. Whenever the Reds were playing, you could be certain that Eva was watching or listening to the game. Joe Donald Gilroy, age 76, left this life on October 8, 2023 at 8:18 PM surrounded by his children and brothers and their spouses Joe was born in Waynesfield, Ohio on January 3, 1947 to John and Margie Gilroy and is survived by brother Gary (Judy) Gilroy, John (Jean) Gilroy and Fred (Dianne) Gilroy Joe married Donna Shepherd (deceased) in 1966 and together they had four children, Kenneth (Donna) Gilroy, Margie (Gary) Miller, Kevin (Rachael) Gilroy and Matthew (Jennifer) Gilroy After losing Donna at a young age, Joe was blessed to marry Shelva Sheets (deceased) in 1988, gaining another daughter Kara (Michael) Springer and son Shawn (Amanda) Doty Along with his six children and their spouses, Joe is also survived by grandchildren Ryan Murphy, Jacob Miller, Zach (Ashley) Gilroy, Zane Gilroy, Ashley (Ben) Krouskop, Jordan (Hannah Hunt) Murphy, Allison (Carlos) Rodriguez, Zach (Jaycie Welch) Miller, Halie (Derek) Howard, Alexis (Kyle) Marquis, Amanda (Jared Breitigan) Gilroy, Danielle Miller, Maddison Springer, Teylan Gilroy, Cohl Springer, Malayla Gilroy and Cash Doty; 13 great grandchildren, Makenna and Leah Gilroy, Aedan and Avery Murphy, Rory and Fraeya Krouskop, Auden and Isaac Howard, Mia Rodriguez, Jack Gilroy Marquis, Carter Breitigan, Rowan Mellor and Conor Dunlap and many beloved in-laws Joe is preceded in death by brother Larry Gilroy and granddaughters Trinity and Keelin Doty Joe graduated from Waynesfield Goshen High School in 1965 and immediately began his career at Warner & Swasey Company He began employment with W & S as a lathe operator and held the title Manufacturing Manager when they closed their doors, which lead him to the greatest opportunity of his life - starting his own business Joe and Shelva and partners started GoFast Machine Component Manufacturing in 1992 Joe took great pride in the success of their business and taught his family the motto "Plan your work and work your plan!" Stetson Patrick Etzkorn, 3 months and 18 days, passed away in his sleep, the morning of Monday, September 4, 2023. He was born on May 17, 2023, in Lima, to AJ & Taylor (Murphy) Etzkorn. His parents and older sisters, Brynlee and Gentry, survive at home in Wapakoneta. Survivors also include maternal grandparents, Patrick & Angie Murphy, Elida; paternal grandparents, Mike & Penny Etzkorn, Wapakoneta; maternal aunt and cousin, Madison Murphy, Elida, and her daughter, Kehlani; paternal uncles, Elijah & Jammison Etzkorn and Garrett Etzkorn, all of Wapakoneta; maternal great-grandparents, Sally Murphy and Don & Linda Lybarger, all of Elida; maternal extended family, Stacy & Buddy Jolliff and their children, Hunter and Ashlyn; Vincent & Kendra Murphy and their children, Braden and Kerianne; Brian & Ronda Lybarger and their son, Brayden; paternal extended family, Vickie & Robbie Douglas; Greg & Marilyn Foxhoven; Monte Foxhoven; David & Karen Etzkorn and their daughter, Sarah; Doug & Connie Etzkorn. Stetson was welcomed into Heaven by his maternal great-grandfather, Tom Murphy; paternal great-grandparents, Damien & Vivian Foxhoven and Richard & Martha Etzkorn; and honorary uncle, Josh Vorhees. A nosey boy, Stetson always wanted to know what was going on around him. He was ready to share a smile at anyone who talked to him. . . as long as his belly was full. He loved being snuggled, especially by his sisters, who would sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or the Frozen song to him. Stetson loved going on golf cart rides and was the most spoiled baby at Huggy Bear Campgrounds. A big mama's boy, Stetson was a little cowboy, often found in Wranglers, boots and pearl-button shirt. His hat collection was catching up to his dad's too and those hats had a way of framing his big, beautiful eyes. He and dad also shared a love for farming, as he was the next generation in Etzkorn Family Farms. His favorite thing in the world to do was watching tractor and farming videos with dad. In addition to living on in the memory of his family and friends, Stetson also shared the gift of life through organ donation. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:30 a. m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. His great-uncle, Vincent Murphy, will officiate the services. Friends may visit from 2:00 - 8:00 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
