Donna J. Tessmer, aged 61, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in New Haven, CT, on January 15, 1962, to the late Michael and Madge Ondusko. Donna was a cherished and long-time resident of Meriden. She was a proud alumna of Maloney High School and the University of New Haven. Donna dedicated her professional life to the service of others, working with dedication at both Gallagher Law Firm and Balaban Law Firm. Outside of her work, Donna had a passion for literature, and her favorite authors included Stephen King and James Patterson. She also found solace and joy in visiting Cape Cod, a cherished tradition she maintained for 35 years. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert G. Tessmer, her daughter Ashley Tessmer of Meriden, and her cherished granddaughter Aubrey Szwarc. She is also survived by her son, Nick Tessmer, and his wife Cassandra McIntosh, both of Meriden, along with her beloved grandsons, Caseyn and Cayne. She leaves behind her sister, Janet Angelillo, and her husband Frank, as well as their children, Erin and Alex and her brother Michael Ondusko and his wife Susan Gagnon Ondusko, along with their children, Michael and Julia Ondusko and Jessica and Jake Gagnon. Donna is also remembered by her sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Wilt and Laureen Tessmer. She was preceded in death by her nephews, Steven Creech and Thomas Ondusko. Donna's family will be receiving friends on Monday, September 18th, from 4 to 7 p. m. , at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Timothy L. "Shaggy" McShea, 52, beloved partner of Heidi Bisson, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Meriden on August 4, 1971, he was the son of Annie E. Hallock and the late Thomas Owen McShea. He had resided in Meriden all his life. Shaggy was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for many years. He loved life and to work, but most of all, spending time with his family. He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Bisson, and Kyle McShea; his daughter, Kristina McShea; his sisters, Wanda McShea, and Michelle Barker; his nieces, Mary Young, Amanda Rodriguez, September Carrero, Annie Rae Barker, and Julia Petro and many great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by his two uncles, James McShea, and Sonny McShea. He was predeceased by his three aunts, Bonnie Bassett, Mary Fitzherbert, and Marilyn Belanger and his uncle, Walter Smith. Roy Frasier, 67, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at his home after a long illness. Born in Ludowici, Georgia on February 21, 1956, he was the son of the late Hilton and Maggie Frasier. Roy was a longtime Meriden resident and graduated from Long County High School in Ludowici, GA. He was employed by Veterans Affairs in West Haven for 30 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Roy loved to cook and hang out with his sister-in-law, Paula. He loved to get all dressed up before steppin out and was very kind to anyone who knew him. He is survived his sisters, Sarah Lynch and husband Paul of Georgia and Linda Frasier of West Haven, his brothers, Robert Frasier of Atlanta, GA, Donnie Frasier and his wife Coralee of Meriden and Glen Frasier of Ludowici, GA. He is also survived by four nieces and four nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Perry and his siter Rosa Frasier. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Friday, December 8th at 12 noon at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. James Ball

Age - 91

James E. Ball (Meriden, CT. ), aged 91, who often fibbed to his grandchildren that he was the "James" who traveled with the "Giant Peach"*, peacefully passed on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 to join his wife's side in heaven. Born on March 10, 1932 in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina (Burnsville) with a quick wit and natural disposition to flirt and charm, James (a. k. a "Skeeter") found his way to Meriden, Connecticut, at 13 years young, to establish a fine life for himself. After serving as a US Army Sergeant in the Korean War, he met the love of his life, Eraine J. Luca, to whom he lived in "wedded bliss" for 55 years. She was his "buttercup", and he was her devoted caregiver for the eleven years prior to her death in 2012. Together, they had two children, James Lee Ball and Karen Audrey Schaeffer (John). He spoiled and teased grandchildren, David (Becca a. k. a. "Becky"), Eric, and Jennifer (a. k. a. "my sweetheart") Schaeffer, and was delighted by the addition of his first great-grandchild, Natalie Rain Schaeffer. As a younger man, James was a party boy with a big smile and ready laugh. During the week, he labored as a maintenance supervisor for the State of Connecticut and always provided for his family. However, on the weekends, he enjoyed polka-dancing, playing cards, smoking Lucky's, and drinking beer and highballs. Every Sunday, though, he brought his family to church and then visited with family. Upon his retirement, he gave up the cigarettes and highballs, and enjoyed long road trips around the country with his "buttercup" Eraine, tubs of popcorn, and chocolate. He once won a lifetime supply of chocolate that he polished off in under two years. A private memorial service is being planned. In lieu of flowers, James would want you to generously tip restaurant staff and call your grandpa (or loved ones). * James and the Giant Peach is a popular children's novel written in 1961 by British author Roald Dahl. Jean Ida Greten, 97, of Meriden, CT, died November 30, 2023 in her home after a long illness. Jean was the wife of the late Warren A. Greten and of Henry Mack, also deceased. She is survived by her daughters, the Rev. Barbara J. Greten and the Rev. Debra Greten-Ganberg, and was also the mother of Warren Greten, Jr. , deceased. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, she lived there until moving to Connecticut with her husband in 1949. Jean was a graduate of Dickinson High School, valedictorian of her class. She then went on to become a registered nurse, graduating from Englewood School of Nursing. Jean worked at WWII Veterans Memorial Hospital in Meriden, CT as an R. N. , head of the surgical floor, and then from 1968-1976, she attended Central Connecticut State College, earning her BA and Masters in Psychology. Jean was a member of the First Congregational Church in Meriden since 1959 and enjoyed singing in the choir. Her other musical talents were playing the organ and piano. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Club. Besides her two daughters and late son, she leaves two sons-in-law, Murray W. Harrison and the Rev. Sheldon R. Ganberg, Ph. D. , three grand-children, Derek S. Greten-Harrison, Becket L. Greten-Harrison, and Sean M. Hotchkiss. She has one great-grandchild, Cyrus. All services are private. Alejandro Gonzalez, 95, of Meriden, CT passed away on November 29, 2023. Alejandro was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on August 26, 1928, one of 18 children to the late Valentin Gonzalez and Crisanta Lorenzo. He honorably served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Alejandro married Carmen Lydia in 1950 in Bronx, New York, later moving to Meriden, CT. Alejandro worked for MRM Industries for many years before his retirement. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Carmen Lydia Gonzalez. He is survived by his daughters Maritza Gonzalez Mullins (Charles) and Migdalia Gonzalez Cardona (Peter), 3 grandchildren, Leslie, Kimberly, and Kevin, and 5 great-grandchildren, Jose, Alejandro, Armando, Wesley and Miacarmen. He is also survived by a brother, Issac of Aguada, Puerto Rico, and a host of nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. Special consideration to his two nieces, Iris Rosa and Nydia DiMartino, whom he leaves to cherish. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff at Complete Care in Meriden. Alicia Rosado, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on April 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Justo Morales and Julia Vazquez. She was a longtime Meriden resident. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. Alicia loved to dance and sing. She loved to travel. She was an avid cook and loved to spend time with her family. Alcia is survived by her daughter, Nancy Couvertier of Meriden; her two sons, Roberto Rosado and his wife Maria Robles from Meriden and Carlos Rosado and his wife Lisa from Louisiana; her eight grandchildren, Olga MacKay, Devona Couvertier, Roberto Rosado Jr. , Miriam Alicia Ranson, Rochelle Rosado, Carlos Rosado Jr. , Domenic Rosado, and Jamie Rosado; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, Julian. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five brothers and five sisters. Dorothy Mary Cleveland Ercolani affectionately known as "Dotty" passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Stowe, Vermont on July 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Perley and Mabel Cleveland. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, of 65 years. They met at the Bradley Diner, married on July 2nd, 1951, were soulmates and are now together forever. Dorothy leaves a daughter, Linda Ercolani and her partner Walt Kozial of Essex, a son, Joe Ercolani and his wife Nancy of Wethersfield. Grandchildren, Joseph Ercolani, Katie Ercolani Lewis and her husband Dan, Julie Ercolani and Krissy Ercolani. Dorothy also leaves two great granddaughters Leah and Quinn Lewis. Dorothy was predeceased by her 15 brothers and sisters: Andrew, Hobart, Barbara, Walter, Wallace, Justin, Evelyn, Rebecca, Keith, Carly, Perley, Margaret, Brenda, James and Douglas. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also LOVED coffee light and sweet, playing cards, Neapolitan ice cream and crocheting afghans for her family, living in Florida, scary movies, golf on TV, and planting beautiful pots of summer flowers. Dotty was an avid Bingo player who'd drive anywhere with her sister-in-law Florence for a chance to win a big cash prize. Dotty will be fondly remembered for her silly sense of humor, countless delicious recipes and her famous Italian cookies. James T Freeman Sr, 86 of Meriden, CT, passed peacefully in Conway, SC on November 21st 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Milton, MA on August 13th 1937, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Gertrude C Freeman. After graduating from Hyde Park High School, he moved to Meriden, CT where he lived for 65 years. Jim worked as a draftsman for Pratt & Whitney for over 50 years, and served in the Marine Corps Reserve for 8 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan following the Red Sox and Patriots. Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth, sons James Freeman Jr (Kim) of Meriden, CT, Everett "Ted" Freeman of Wallingford, CT, step daughter Cathy-Jo Mottram (Matthew) and stepson Robert Herbst (Jamie) of Meriden, CT, several nieces and nephews, and his dogs Tootsie and Pixie. Jim was predeceased by his wife Donna, daughter Anne Appelle, sister Ruth, and brother Charles. In the past 2 years he was supported by the wonderful caring staff at Anderson Oaks Assisted Living and Agape Hospice. Thomas John Kolesar, 63, died on Monday, November 20, 2023, peacefully in his sleep. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on June 11, 1960. He had attended a technical high school in Pennsylvania and graduated from Albertus Magnus College with a business degree. He was employed by Arrow Electronics, then New Haven LAZ Parking. Thom was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Penn State College Teams. He loved his golden retriever, Haylee. He was a board member of Jack Barry Little League. His three sons and grandchildren were his most cherished possessions. He is survived by his mother Jean, and her husband John Trusewicz, his three sons, James Daylida and his wife Kristen (his favorite daughter-in-law), Ryan Kolesar, and Justin Kolesar and his partner Emily Clark; his beloved grandchildren, Katelyne, Anthony and Blake Daylida; his sisters, Linda Kolesar-Miller. Kim Trusewicz and Jeanne Trusewicz; and his brother, Jeffery Kolesar. He also leaves three nieces and two nephews. He is also survived by his best friends Jim Riccitelli and Toni Pasquini, and ex-wife of 32 years, Debbie Kolesar. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Kolesar. Mary Pauloz

Age - 87

Mary Lou Pauloz, 87, wife of the late Richard F. Pauloz, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, after an extended illness. She was born in New Britain, Mary Louise Ann Jankoski on September 22, 1936, and grew up in Bristol, CT. Mary Lou really loved working at the Bristol radio station WBIS as a disc jockey. She met many famous people at the time and had the wonderful opportunity to interview Tony Bennett. He told her that she was a "breath of fresh air" after the interview. Mary Lou decided that she wanted to take some piano lessons and that is how she met her future husband, Richard. He came to her house to give her some piano lessons and they soon fell in love. Mary Lou and Richard became married and resided in Meriden, CT for many years with their three children. Mary Lou was a stay-at-home Mom until the children became older, when she took a job in the Classified Ads Department at the Meriden Record Journal and remained employed there for a couple of years. Mary Lou and Richard loved working at antique shows together later in life and enjoyed going places and doing things with their children and grandchildren. Mary Lou also loved music, especially the piano, so she decided to become a piano teacher. She enjoyed giving private lessons to her students for many years. Mary Lou leaves behind her daughter Diana Balavender and her husband Mark Balavender, her son Rick Pauloz and his wife Sally Pauloz, her daughter Jeanne Caillouette and her sister, Teresa Jankoski. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren: Jillian Caillouette; Julianne Balavender; Katie, Thomas and Andrew Pauloz along with two nieces: Jennifer Sturgeon and her husband Jeff, Julie Bernosky and her husband Bob Carrara, nephew Peter Bernosky and great-nieces Danielle and Gabi Sturgeon. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Bernosky and her brother-in-law David Bernosky of Bristol. At the request of Mary Lou, there will be no calling hours.
