Donna passed away at home on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. She was born to Harold and Audrey (Ransom) Allen on May 23, 1960, in Bridgeport, CT. She was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport and studied at Fairfield University. She worked for many years for Connecticut General/Cigna as a computer programmer. She later worked for U-Store It/Cube Smart for 15 years as an Operation Manager/Trainer. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Donna. She loved entertaining family and friends. Her kitchen table was the family meeting place. There wasn't a person that she met that she did not consider family. All were welcome at her table. She loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her sweet, pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Donna was a member of the Warburton Community Congregational Church, UCC, Hartford, CT, until her health prevented her from participating. Donna Allen's love of life didn't end with her death. Her family will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Donna leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Eboni Allen (Juan) and her granddaughter Tilly Allen of Manchester, her sisters Bernice Allen (Don Ranger), and Martyne Allen of Hartford, six dearly loved nieces, Precious Hicks, Renita Ransom, Olivia and Alexandra Allen, Meghan Hicks, and Ella Ransom. Five treasured nephews, Harold Allen (Anitra), Joseph Hicks (Amanda), Antwain Hicks, Trevone Allen, and Hagan Hicks. She also leaves to mourn a special Aunt (Victoria Allen), along with several aunts, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Audrey Allen, and her grandmothers Bernice Nutter and Sarah Allen. She was fortunate to be guided through the end-of-life experience by the professionals at Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice and both she and her family were entirely grateful for these kind, caring people.
