It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Luther, 79, of Palm Bay, FL, announces his passing on November 20, 2023. Robert will be lovingly remembered by his brother, William Luther III, (Barbara), his sister-in-law Mary Anne (Richard), many cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends in New Jersey and Florida. Robert was preceded in death by his brother Richard. Robert never married. Robert was born on June 13, 1944, in Darby, Pennsylvania, to William A. Luther II and Mildred Rice Luther. As a young man he earned wings as a U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Paratrooper. He also completed courses at Atlantic Cape Community College and at Rutgers State University in fields related to hotel and personnel administration. Robert's career centered on hotel administration starting in Las Vegas, NV, then as a hotel manager in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and eventually to Atlantic City, N. J. Robert was a proud Officer of Local 54 of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union in Atlantic City. While living in Palm Bay, Robert was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose with many friends and acquaintances. He was an avid baseball fan throughout his life, and enjoyed attending Major League Baseball games throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. He especially loved the Philadelphia Phillies. Robert was an outstanding baseball player himself in his high school years, qualifying for the Little League World Series Championships in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Robert had a passion for masters' artwork, particularly cubism and impressionism. Robert will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA. There will be a private service in his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. When I leave you to go along the silent way, grieve not. Nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were with you there. And when you hear a song or see a bird, please do not let the thought of me be sad - - for I am loving you just as I always have. You were good to me! If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudice against my fellow man. If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or a word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever.Show more
