Donald Torina Obituary

Donald Lee Torina, 86, of Tampa, FL, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Don Torina was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 14, 1936, the third of six sons born to the late Frank A. Torina and Rose Matoske Torina. He attended Christian Brothers High School and College in Memphis where he made many happy memories while being the quarterback of the high school's football team. He moved to Tampa in 1966 to manage Knight & Wall's Hardware Associates department for ten years. Next, he was a commercial and residential real estate sales broker for the rest of his working career. He was a long time member of Davis Island Yacht Club and an avid sailing competitor on his Morgan 27 sailboat "War Eagle". He is noted for being the fleet captain at DIYC that developed and started the club's highly successful Thursday Night Races in 1970. Don also enjoyed watching football, investing in the stock market, and driving his 1956 Thunderbird. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Elaine and three daughters: Pamela (William) Dyer of Houston, Texas; Barbara (Michael) Hobson of Portland, Oregon; and Jennifer Magar of Austin, Texas.
