Mr. James Oliver Washington, Sr. was born on April 13, 1931, in Pine View (Georgiana) Alabama to Oliver Washington, Sr. and Gussie Patton. Mother Gussie Patton died at an early age and James and his brothers, Booker T and Mamie were raised by their grandmother, Ella Patton.James married Viola Hamilton at an early age. James was 19 years old, and Viola was 17 years old. Viola had to have her mother, Zeola Hamilton sign for her to get married because she was underage. They were blessed with 4 children, Brenda and Sharon and 2 sons, James Jr. and Dwight, who preceded him in death. James and Viola were married for over 70 years.James came to Toledo in 1950 and retired from Inter Lake Iron after 30 years. He always had a kind word to say to family members and friends.James accepted Christ at an early age at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Hickory Hill, Alabama and later became a member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church under Pastor Dr. John E. Roberts. James served as a Trustee during his 30 years of service. He would always tell the Trustees “I’m not trying to put no big stuff in my cap”.James bowled in the Young Seniors Bowling League until he was 84 years young and stopped bowling because of knee problems. His favorite card games were Coon Cane, Tunk, Penuckle, and Bid Whiz.James was known as one the best Bar-B-Que grill masters, along with frying chicken and fish.James was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Viola; sons, James Jr. and Dwight; siblings, Booker T. Washington, Mamie (Dee) Johnson, and Oliver (Martha) Washington, and grandchild, Doyna Washington.He leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Brenda Washington and Sharon Washington (Robert) Clark of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, LaMarr (Tammy) Washington, Janet and Janice Washington, Connie Wright, Crystal Brown, and Felicia Dunston; 16 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Daniel G. Molnar, 75, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo Center. He was born on November 28, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio to Emery and Irene (Fejes) Molnar. Daniel was a 1966 graduate of Lake High School, where he excelled at football and wrestling. He was selected for the Lake Wrestling Hall of Fame Team. Daniel attended the University of Toledo, before joining the family business, Molnar’s Hunk and Chunk, making his world-famous sausages. He continued his career as a meat cutter working for, K and J Meats, Pioneer Packing, and retiring from Kroger in 2017. Dan married his wife, Karen Nitkiewicz on August 17, 1985, and together they raised five children. He loved his kids and grandkids and enjoyed coaching their sports teams as they grew up. Dan helped start the Lake Township Soccer program and was an umpire for many years. He will be dearly missed. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Karen Molnar; children, James (Michelle) Molnar, Matthew (Samantha) Molnar, Daniel (Melissa) Molnar, Michael (Janey) Molnar, and Stacy (Brock) Bell; grandchildren, Bode, Leland, Adel, Emery, Jackson, Sawyer, Dominic, Danielle (Dan), Michael, and Leilani (Stewart); great-grandchildren, London, Ollie, Ansel, Ford, and Kal; his siblings, Butch (Susan) Molnar, and Fran Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cher (Nick) Goeder, Ed (Carla), Rick, Gene (Lori), Doug, Gary, and Julie Nitkiewicz. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly (Mike) Thompson; and brother-in-law, John Johnson. Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Gerald A. “Jerry” Brummett, 84, of Toledo, OH, passed away Monday evening February 26, 2024. He was born December 30, 1939, in Toledo, OH, to parents, Alger and Georgia (Clark) Brummett. Jerry was a sheet metal worker by trade, but his passion was restoring older classic cars. He has won many National and State awards for his restorations. Jerry was recognized in the Toledo Blade for a Packard Limousine he restored for Robert Stranahan, that is still often displayed at the Wildwood Manor House. He was a member of many local and national car clubs. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed racing motorcycles. One thing that has remained constant over the years is his love of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Jerry is survived by his son, Steven G. Brummett; granddaughters, Tawni (Vincent) Fenech and Amber Eubank; sister, Shirley (Robert) Yeager; fiancée, Sunny Van Baaren; and sister-in-law, Pat Brummett. Edward Joseph Hardin Jr., 55, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the University of Toledo Medical College of Ohio. He was born on December 13, 1968 in Toledo, Ohio to Linda Gedert and Edward Hardin Sr. Over the years, he's had nicknames such as Fast Eddie, Machine Gun Eddie, Unc, Uncle Fester, Special Ediot, and ultimately Special Ed. He was a fun, loving man, with a magnetic personality and wonderful sense of humor. He kept you on your toes, wondering what he would do next. Eddie loved spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle and camping. He also enjoyed tinkering with his motorcycles, cars, and just about anything he could get his hands on. Ed was a “Jack of all trades”, working as a mechanic, roofer, and most recently repairing trailers. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. "Helen Catherine O’Brien went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 13, 2024, where she will be reunited with her husband, John and daughter, Marcia in heaven. She was born June 19, 1927 to Katie and Frank Sypneski in Toledo. Helen attended Little Flower elementary school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1947. On October 4, 1947, Helen married John O’Brien and raised 3 children together, Marcia, Patrick and Karen. While raising her family, she graduated from Mercy School of Nursing and worked as a pediatric nurse for Drs. Kappus, Miller \u0026amp; Piggott until she retired. For her entire adult life, she was a dedicated parishioner of Christ the King Church, where she was active in the 55 and Over Club and enjoyed attending Bible class with her friends. Helen was an avid reader, along with being a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing for her family and grandchildren. Helen belonged to a sewing club in which her friends met to work on sewing projects. Her family affectionately called it the “Stitch and Bitch” club. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Karen (Paul) Stresen; son, Patrick (Julia) O’Brien; sister, Stephanie Maher; nieces, Christine, Colleen, Sheila; sister-in-law, Phyllis O’Brien; niece, Marie and nephews, Michael, Jim, Jerry and Tim. Grandma will be dearly missed by her grandsons, Aaron Stresen, Jack, Jamison and Kevin O’Brien and great grandson, Bryce O’Brien as well as her friends, Terri McKown, Angie Lykins and Ruth Ormsby. Friends are invited to visit after 9:30am Friday, February 16, 2024 at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, Ohio 43623, where the Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30am. "Nancy Ellen Puhl, 91, of Toledo passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Nancy was born October 5, 1932 to Fred and Leah (Hurst) Eichenberg. Nancy worked as a cake decorator for Churchill’s Market for several years. She enjoyed traveling and going to garage sales and casinos with her husband, Joe, and playing bingo with her friends in Alcove Park in Florida. She loved spending her winters in Clearwater, FL to escape the Ohio cold. Nancy had an impressive collection of hats that she would proudly wear anywhere she would go, bringing joy to those around her. Nancy is survived by stepdaughter, Janet Heller; stepson-in-laws, Bob Jackman and Tim DeTray; daughter, Dawn (Manny) Sulfaro; grandsons, Charlie Parker and Daniel Parker (fiancé, Amanda Rhodes); granddaughters, Amy (Greg) Frosch and Nicola Sulfaro; great-grandchildren, Max (Kyra), Peyton, and Haley Elliott; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond and Dale Eichenberg; sisters, Virginia Campbell and Rosemary Wright; ex-husband, Kenneth R. Parker; husband, Joseph M. She worked for Washington Local Schools for 40 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Toledo Chapter of the Women’s International Bowling Congress and the Toledo Blade Queens travelling bowling league for over 15 years.
