Olga Truka of Wilber, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the age of 91. She was born July 12th 1932 on a farm between Wilber and Crete. Olga had five sisters that have preceded her in death Frances Kohel, Helen Richtarik, Mildred Pallas, Hermine Fisser and Karoline Pallas. She told us stories about when she was a child living on the farm they would sit by the windmill and strip duck feathers to make feather greasers. The bottom of the feathers were woven together and used in the kitchen to grease baking pans and dough. This is a fond memory because she always used them for baking when we were growing up. It was in her early teens they moved in to Wilber. As a young woman she worked as a Telephone operator and at the Wilber Weenie factory. She was married to Charles Truka, (Bounce) they started a family and she was a stay home mom. Bounce and Olga were inseparable and did everything together. They soon moved to the country and she was a farmer's wife. She helped with chores, harvesting, and raising her 4 children. When the children were older, she worked at Farmland foods and most will remember when she worked at the Wilber bakery. Bounce and Olga retired in Wilber always keeping busy helping others, and they loved camping especially with family. Olga was always cooking and ready to feed anybody that stopped over. Of course, she always enjoyed having a beer with friends and family. In the later years Olga moved to the Czech Village, she enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and made friends with some great people. She will be missed at the afternoon gatherings on the patio and having a beer or two. Olga is preceded in death by her husband Bounce, on April 1st 2023. She is survived by her daughters Shirley Andelt husband Larry Andelt, Donna Rice with Tom Kibler. Olga's two sons Chuck Truka, wife Kim and Jim Truka, wife Dawn. Grandchildren Ryan Andelt, Eric Andelt, Nick Rice, Skyler Rice, Charles Truka, Matthew Truka, Sami Truka-Vesely, Miranda Truka, Caleb Truka and Decker Truka. She also has many great grandchildren.
