Donald Martinez Obituary

Donald Ambrose Martinez was born on April 29, 1951 in Rapid City, SD to Ambrose Fountenel Martinez and Ruby Aloise Glenn. Donald made his journey to the Spirit World on April 16, 2023 at Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD. Donald attended grade school at the Rapid City Publics Schools and received his diploma from the Pierre Adult Education in Pierre, SD. He attended college at Sinte Gleska University in Rosebud, SD and went to trade school at Kicking Horse in Montana. Donald was educated in substance abuse, child abuse, elderly abuse, and post secondary education programs; with his education Donald worked with a lot of the youth in the Rapid City Area trying to keep the young people off of drugs and alcohol and live a good life. Donald enjoyed working with the youth and helping them become the best individuals they could be. Donald was also a very skilled carpenter where he excelled in cement work and painting. Donald is survived by his wife, Melda Martinez of Rapid City, SD; sisters, Lolita Martinez of Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Campos of Yankton, SD, Theresa Martinez of Gregory, SD, Teena LeBeau of Los Angeles, CA, and Lori F. Padilla of Denver, CO; and brothers, Darrell D. Martinez of Gregory, SD, Ambrose F. Martinez and Raymond Bissonette both of Rapid City, SD. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose Martinez and Ruby Glenn; sisters, Darlene D. Martinez-Fields, Carmelita Martinez, Joan White Shield, and Martina Martinez; and brother, Phillip Little Killer. Pallbearers will be Robert Miller, Martin, DeCory, Ambrose Martinez, Jr. , Darrell Martinez, Raymond Martinez, Leonard Salway, Donivan Long, Devona Long, and Robert Long. Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 23, 2023 at On Common Ground Church in Rapid City, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.
