Donald C. "Don" Boyle, age 90, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully at his home, Friday afternoon, October 6, 2023, surround by his loving family. On January 1, 1933, Don was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Charles A. and Armita Mae (Hanstine) Boyle. He graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1951. Don married Mary "Elaine" Browning on August 16, 1971. They shared over 34 years as husband and wife before she preceded him in death on November 7, 2005. Don dedicated 42 years of his life to Marion Power Shovel, where he worked as a tow motor operator, machinist and an inspector in the quality control department. He took great pride in having worked on the Crawlers used by NASA in shuttle launchings. Don retired from there in 1991. For many years, he and Elaine owned and operated an antique and collectibles shop at their home on E. North St. in Mount Gilead, "The Little Shop. "A man of faith, Don attended The Pines Christian Church for many years. He was involved in the community as a V. I. P. at the Mount Gilead State Park. He helped with the playground equipment and put-up Christmas decorations yearly. Don volunteered at the court house for several years on Thursday's, being a bailiff for Judge McClelland and occasionally helped at the health department. He also enjoyed volunteering and participating in events at Seniors on Center. Don enjoyed being outdoors and traveling. He was part of the Happy Wonders Travel Club and went on many trips with the group. He loved camping and took a Dodge van and converted it into a camper. When he was at home relaxing, he always turned on the tv to watch WWE Wrestling and Jeopardy. Don will be remembered as a man that loved everyone and never knew a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could be a bit of a jokester at times. Don was an extremely independent and determined individual. Left to cherish Don's memory are five children: Jerry (Diana) Boyle of Johnsville, Robert (Nancy) Boyle of Langley, WA, Becky (Rick) Landis of Cardington, Tamie (Tom) Wong of NC, Rhonda VanMeter of Prospect; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by two sons: Dale Thomas and Tommy Boyle; a sister, Evelyn Davis; and a great grandson, Jerry "JJ" Boyle III. Don's family will greet friends from 12 - 2 p. m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Gilead Chapel, 67 N. Main St. , Mount Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate his life will begin there at 2:00 p. m. with Celebrant Galen McLeod officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. James R. Monnin, age 86, of Meadville, PA went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully with family by his side on Thursday December 7, 2023 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born on December 11, 1936 to the late Norman and Vernald (Stopp) Monnin. He married Sarah K. Dillinger on June 29, 1957. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2014. James worked in Meadville for Conrail until 1980. He then became a self-employed roofer for many years then worked for PennDot on the sign crew until his retirement. He was a member of Carmel Baptist Church. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandsons. James is survived by his daughters, Lisa Monnin (James McNulty) of Meadville, PA and Tonya Uitzetter (Sherman) of Clayton, NC; two grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew Uitzetter; his sister, Jean Sedlak and his brothers, Edwin Monnin and Donald Monnin (Maryln) and his very best friend, Pat Winters. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evalyn Stewart; his brother, Albert Monnin; his brother-in-law, Michael Sedlak and his sisters-in-law, Elsie Monnin and Nancy Monnin. William "Will" Everette Starn II, age 52, of Meadville, PA passed away at his home on Monday December 4, 2023. He was born on January 22, 1971 in Cleveland, OH to William E. Sr. and Stella M. (Phillips) Starn. Will received his high school diploma in the US Navy. He was a former member of the Hunting and Fishing Club, VFW Post #2006 and East Mead VFW #9. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his daughter. In addition to his parents, Bill and Stella of Meadville, PA, he is survived by the joy of his life, his daughter, Bella Madison Grace Starn at home; his long-time friend and partner, Melissa "Missy" Ann Beebe; two sisters, Suzanne Filipos and her husband, George of Charleston, SC and Stephanie Gardner of Cortland, OH; his niece, Zoey Olive Gardner and his nephew, Gunner Duane Gardner and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James O. Starn and Grace Puri and his maternal grandparents, Olive and William Philips and his aunts, Ruth Nagare and Kathie Phillips. Shelly Marie (Watt) Swavey, age 43, of Meadville, PA passed away on Tuesday November 28, 2023. She was born on January 12, 1980 in Meadville, PA to Donald L. and Linda M. (Harvey) Watt. Shelly graduated from Meadville Area Senior High School and Crawford County Vo-Tech Child Care Program in 1999. She attended First Christian Church when she was younger and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was very active in fundraisers and activities for the MS Foundation. In addition to her parents, Shelly is survived by her daughter, Megan Swavey of Jamestown, PA; one sister, Melissa S. Spencer and her husband, Jason of Meadville, PA; her former spouse, Richard Swavey of Townville, PA; her maternal grandmother, Jean Harvey of Jamestown, PA and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Shelly was preceded in death by her daughter, Samantha Swavey; her maternal grandfather, Stephen Harvey; her paternal grandparents, Anna and Clarence Watt and her uncles, Gregory Harvey and Gary Harvey. Nelda Lorraine Onesky, age 83, of Meadville, PA passed away on November 13, 2023 after an unexpected illness. She was born on March 26, 1940 to the late Florence and Wilbur Minzenberg. Her unwavering strength was matched only by her boundless compassion. Nelda's acts of kindness were countless, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her friendly demeanor and genuine care for others made her cherished member of the community. Nelda is survived by her loving brother, Myles Minzenberg and his wife, Barbara; her daughters, Kelly Swavey and her husband, Jeffrey and Beverly Sieg; granddaughters, Jennifer Kamohalii and her husband, Bryan, Stephaney Swavey and her significant other, Phillip Sopher, grandson, Taylor Cobelentz and his wife, Julia, great granddaughters, Chloe, Kaylee, Chevelle and Nova; sister-in-law, Cindy Manuel; niece, Traci Brown Minzenberg and her children, Steve, Drew and Chrissy; nephews, Reed Minzenberg and his children, Myles and Sam, and Ross Minzenberg and his wife, Rona and their children, Otto and Etta. James "Jim" "Red" McCracken, 75, passed away on Friday, November 24th, 2023. He was born on May 3, 1948 in Erie, PA to the late Chauncey L. McCracken Sr. and Ruby M. (Kroh) McCracken. Jim graduated from Union City High School on June 6, 1967. From there, he went on to work at General Electric until his retirement in June 2008. He was a member of Union City Moose Lodge 882. His hobbies included golfing, riding his 4-wheeler, collecting old model cars, hunting, and feeding the birds. He was known for smoking cigars and scratching lottery tickets, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his two sisters; Mary Ann (McCracken) Culver of Union City, PA and Rita Culver and her husband, Harold, of Corry, PA; his two brothers, Kenneth McCracken and his wife, Lynda, of Corry, PA and Chauncey McCracken Jr. and his wife, Verna, of Union City, PA; his nieces Missy Winkler, Lori Kehe, Judy Harouff, Heather Kilgore, Wendy Fereirra, and Lisa Bowles; and his nephews Steven Culver, Keith McCracken, Ken McCracken Jr. , Lee Culver, and Brian Culver. Dolores Kay, 'Dee', Donovan, 68, of Centerville, peacefully entered the presence of her Savior on Friday, November 24, 2023, at her home. She entered this world on January 6, 1955, in Corry, Pennsylvania, the sixth daughter of Thomas I. Smith and Marjorie L. Miller Smith. She married 'the best man that ever walked this earth', Bradley James Donovan, on April 9, 1977. Her heart was shattered when he preceded her in death on July 16, 2019. Dolores was a 1973 graduate of Titusville High School and made homemaking her passion. Her heart and her home were always open to her loved ones, her giving spirit knew no boundaries. Dee was a Godly example to her daughters and grandchildren, encouraging them often in their lives. Every grandchild was treasured by her. Always greeted warmly with a hug and when time to leave, went home with a treat from 'the basket'. She loved to hear stories of what they were doing, no matter their age. Left behind to carry on Dolores's memory are her two daughters, Emily Kerr and her husband, Kyle, of Titusville, and Abbi Martin and her husband, John, of Titusville; grandchildren, Kaleb and his wife Megan, Zachary, Benjamin, Levi, Joshua, Izannah, Lukas, Curtis, Autum, Leah, and Uriah; six sisters, Gladys Snee and her husband James of Titusville Jacque Dickinson and her husband Nathan of North East, Jeannette Thornton and her husband Gary of Titusville, Dana Kellogg of Sarasota, Florida, Beth Sterner and her husband Robert of Oil City, and Freda Stoke and her husband Rich of Conneaut Lake; and many other extended family members. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cheryl Hinderks; and a half-brother, Dale Smith. A memorial service to celebrate Dolores's life will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, at the First Baptist Church in Titusville. The family will be receiving those who wish to pay their respects, share a memory or simply give a hug at 11 a. m. Beginning at 12 p. m. , a service will be held to honor the beautiful woman that we were so blessed to know. Those wishing to remain for a meal with the family immediately following the service are welcomed to do so.
