Donald Brian Allison (Don), age 89, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023, in Greenwich, Connecticut. Born in England, Don received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Cambridge University, graduating with honours. He further received a DBA from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Cited as a "Model Scholar", Don was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Global University for Lifelong Learning in the United States in 2011. Don spent the bulk of his career in the aviation and transportation sectors. As Regional Managing Director of Trans International Airlines, he established the airline' s first international routes into much of Asia. Being a leading authority in transportation, Don penned many industry articles and gave frequent lectures, including ones to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. He retired in 1995 with the U. S. Department of Transportation, after a decade as Director of the Asia-Pacific region for the Port of Baltimore. In the same year, Don was awarded a certificate of honour by then Governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, in the name of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, for his valuable services rendered to the Colony. As a devoted philanthropist, Don founded and chaired several charitable organizations, including The Hong Kong Foundation for Early Childhood Development; The Hong Kong Junior Golf Development Foundation; and The Hong Kong Literators and Artists Association. Don was the keenest of golfers, with a six decade-plus membership at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club. He was also an active member of the local community, spending five decades as a member of the American Club and the American Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Governor, and concurrently, the Chairman of the Transportation Committee. Donald Allison is survived by his daughter, Carol Allison-Musetti, and pre-deceased by his wife, Dr. Darling Allison and their daughter, Susan Allison. Services for Don will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 10am at St Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830.

Charles (Charlie) Howell Lott, a beloved husband, father and grandfather who brought joy and music into everyone's lives, died on Monday, Dec. 4, surrounded by family. He was 93. From 1991-1999, Charlie was Chief Executive Officer of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods (KBW), the boutique investment bank. During that time, Charlie had a well-regarded multi-decade track record investing in U. S. bank stocks. After he stepped down as CEO in 1999, Charlie managed a hedge fund for KBW committed to investment opportunities in the rapidly evolving financial services industry. He survived the tragic World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001, and remained active with the firm until his retirement in 2005. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charlie was a man of multifaceted passions and unwavering commitments. He attended Duke University from 1948-1950 before serving four years in the US Air Force where he was trained in cryptography and dispatched to Armstrong, a tiny town in Ontario, Canada. There, Charlie demonstrated his innate business talent managing and rescuing the base's social club from near bankruptcy. Following his service, he graduated from Rutgers University in 1956. A native of New Jersey, Charlie was born March 7, 1930, in Plainfield, NJ. He was the son of James Cropsey Lott, who was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and Anita Kathryn Howell Lott. Charlie was a resident of Stuart, FL, but also spent time in Buck Hill Falls, PA, and Old Greenwich, CT. He is survived by his wife Barbara Gregorich Lott, the children of his late wife Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Brown Lott, including daughter Kathryn Kehoe (husband Daniel) of Manasquan, NJ, daughter Virginia Lott of Point Pleasant, NJ, and son James Lott (wife Mary) of Ridgefield, Connecticut; and sister Jean Jupp (husband Bill) of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Meghan, Daniel, and Paige Kehoe, and Kathleen and Mia Lott; step-children Michael Gregorich (wife Karen) of Key Largo, FL, and Andrea Sherman (husband Robert) of Riverside, CT; and step-grandchildren Dolan, Sam, Margaret and Quinn Gregorich; and Robert, Laura and Evelyn Sherman. Charlie possessed a remarkable talent for playing the piano by ear and often shared his musical gifts with friends and family. During the holidays, his family was treated to enchanting renditions of carols, played on his Clarinova piano, bringing warmth and joy to their gatherings. Additionally, his daily concerts for Barbara became a cherished routine. Music was not just his refuge; it was where he found solace and the purest form of joy. Charlie embraced gardening and competitive tennis with equal enthusiasm. He played on the varsity team at Duke University and participated in recreational doubles matches at clubs across New Jersey, as well as in Buck Hill Falls. He was immensely proud of his garden, which served as his sanctuary. Charlie's absence often meant he was diligently at work, immersed in his garden. His profound affection for dogs and family was evident, some even jesting about the order of his devotion. His beloved dog Freddy held a special place in his heart and was a testament to the cherished bond between man and his loyal companion, epitomizing the enduring concept of "man's best friend. " Charlie leaves behind a legacy woven with dedication, love, and a commitment to excellence in all facets of life. He will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered as a devoted husband and father, and a man of exceptional talents. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Sunday, December 10 at Leo P. On September 29, 2023, in Greenwich, Connecticut, a beautiful woman named Nimia Rivas Cortes left us at 103. She peacefully passed away in her sleep at the Nathaniel Witherall Nursing Home. Nimia's legacy lives on through her daughters Nury Stevens, Norma Cortes, Nancy Cortes, Aura Cortes, and stepdaughter Ruth Marina Cortes Diaz, along with a loving lineage of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members. She was reunited in heaven with her parents, Arminda Catillo and Jose Vincente Rivas, her husband, Jose Nelson Cortes, her children Nestor Cortes and Nelly Aschinger, and her grandson, Andreas Aschinger. Born on August 12, 1920, in Tomaco, Colombia, Nimia embarked on a journey that spanned continents and touched countless hearts. Her early days saw her serving as the deputy assistant to the Mayor of Buenaventura, Colombia, and teaching mathematics at the 20 de Julio School for Girls. In the United States, she and her daughters Aura, Norma, and Nancy joined her daughter Nury in New Haven. Nimia worked as a dedicated bookkeeper for the Knights of Colombus. But Nimia's story didn't stop there; she found a loving second family in Dr. Michael Sherman and Marie Sherman and their sons, Philip and Edmund. Her heart was always whole, and she lived with, loved, and cared for them until moving to a residential care facility in Greenwich. Nimia's talents knew no bounds. She knitted beautiful baby blankets for friends and the neonatal intensive care unit at Greenwich Hospital. Her voice soared in song, filling her with joy and those around her with warmth. Her spirit of generosity was evident through her support of Catholic Charities, where she championed the cause of the less fortunate. Nimia was a tenacious advocate, not only for others but also for herself. A Springtime memorial service and celebration will be held to honor her memory. Nimia's legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will forever stay in our hearts. She leaves us with beloved memories that remind us of the beauty of a life well-lived.Show more

Richard Young passed away on November 27, 2023. He was born on August 4, 1937. Richard was a devoted husband to Carol Young and a loving father to Rachel, Kinley, Alex, and Tyler. He cherished his role as a grandfather to eight grandchildren. Richard had an impressive educational background, having attended Blair Academy for high school and later earning degrees from Brown University and the University of Virginia Law School. He served in the Army and was proud of his military associations. Richard's commitment to serving his country was evident throughout his life. In his professional life, Richard achieved great success as the managing partner at Martin, Clearwater, and Bell. He was highly respected in his field and made significant contributions to the company. Outside of work, Richard had a passion for photography, tennis, and cars. He was always eager to capture memorable moments behind the lens, engage in friendly matches on the tennis court, and explore the latest automotive innovations. Richard's dedication extended beyond his personal interests. He was an active member of his community and involved in various charitable endeavors. Contributions in his memory can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Richard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Elise Funke Griffin, 94, of Greenwich, CT, and Watch Hill, RI, passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on November 30, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born in Columbus, OH, Elise was the daughter of Edward and Juliann Funke. Elise grew up in Pelham Manor, NY, where she married and raised her family, living there for 50 years before eventually moving to Greenwich. Elise and Peter spent summers in Watch Hill beginning in 1952. Elise was preceded in death by her brother James Funke and her adoring husband of 63 years, Peter B. Griffin, Sr. She is survived by her loving family: Peter Bakewell Griffin, Jr. ; daughter, Lisa McGill and husband Jef; grandchildren Sydney and Annie; and many nieces and nephews. Elise's journey was marked by a rich tapestry of passions and accomplishments. A woman of intellect and grace, Elise graduated from the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and continued her education graduating at Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, DC, laying the foundation for a life characterized by continuous learning and personal growth. In addition to her roles as a loving mother and grandmother, Elise was a remarkable teacher in her own right. Those fortunate enough to share time with her always left with a valuable lesson learned. Whether through the stories she shared, the wisdom she imparted, or the genuine interest she took in others, Elise was a source of inspiration and knowledge. Her unwavering dedication to education was evident in her role as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Masters School. In 2012, Elise received the Richmond Bowl Award for her exceptional support and selfless dedication to her alma mater. Her love for the arts, rich cultural scenes, and the world of design defined her leisure pursuits. An avid theatre-goer and voracious reader, she found joy and inspiration in the creative expressions of others. Her deep-rooted belief that travel is a great educator led her to explore over 30 countries and across 5 continents, each journey contributing to the fullness of her life. A woman of strong principles shaped by the lessons of the Depression era, Elise approached each day with frugality, intellectual curiosity and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her 94 years stand as a testament to a life well-lived, filled with resilience, love, and a profound sense of humor. Elise was a member of the International Garden Club in Pelham, NY, the Indian Harbor Yacht Club in Greenwich, CT, and the Misquamicut Club and Watch Hill Yacht Club in Watch Hill, RI. A private service will be held, followed by a celebration of Elise's life next summer. Vincent Vecchiotti, 96, of Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 23, 2023 at his home in Jupiter, FL, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Bergenfield, NJ on July 11, 1927, Vincent was an enterprising, ambitious, hardworking man who served in the Navy during World War II. Vincent began his successful career with his brother as co-founder/owner of Star Manufacturing in Little Ferry, NJ. His career continued as a real estate developer in New Jersey and New York. It was his passion for cooking that led to owning the award-winning Stony Hill Inn located Hackensack, NJ. In his spare time, Vincent enjoyed taking to the skies as an experienced pilot. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY, The Loxahatchee Club in Jupiter, FL and The Union League Club in Manhattan. Vincent loved to travel and wanted to experience as much of the world as possible with his soul mate and late wife, Marilyn. Vincent will always be remembered for his love of life and his joy of giving to others. He will be dearly missed. Vincent is survived by his daughter Elise Brunhofer of Farmingdale, NJ, son Vincent Vecchiotti of Golden, CO, his stepchildren Susan Wohlforth of Greenwich, CT, David Telesco of Ridgewood, NJ, and Cricket Burns of Manhattan. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grand-son. Vincent was preceded in death by his mother Mary Vecchiotti, father Vincent Vecchiotti, his brother Frank Vecchiotti, and beloved wife, Marilyn Vecchiotti. Phillip Domiziano, 76, of Stamford passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023 of natural causes. Born in Greenwich, CT on May 10, 1947 to parents Frank and Jennie Domiziano, Phillip was a graduate of Greenwich High School. Following graduation, he joined the Marine Corps from 1964 until he was honorably discharged in 1968, receiving multiple commendations while in service. Upon his discharge, he moved up to Buffalo, NY, before returning back to his home state and settling in Stamford, CT. Phillip leaves behind his two sons, Frank, and his wife Gloria Domiziano, Justin Curryto, grandchildren Frank, Sofia, Nicholas and John Domiziano and sisters Donna Domiziano and Susan, and her husband Stephen Librandi, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sister, Maria Servidio, who is survived by her husband, Benjamin. Phillip spent his career at Stamford Hospital as a CNA, working for 25 years in the Tully Health Center. In his retirement, he helped with his four grandchildren daily, who were the pride and joy of his life. Phillip had a gift for making everyone he encountered feel as if they had known him forever, and we hope that when you fondly remember him, that will be the impression that he has left on your heart. Maria Elizabeth Platsis, of Greenwich, CT, died peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on November 11, 2023, at the age of 54, after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends who loved her. Maria was born in Washington, D. C. on June 27, 1969 to George and Barbara Platsis. She attended school in Lansing and Okemos, MI, before obtaining a B. A. and J. D. at The University of Michigan and an M. B. A. at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. After practicing law at Latham & Watkins and Morgan Lewis, and briefly working at Merrill Lynch, she joined Integra LifeSciences to steer their Corporate Development team for almost two decades. Former colleagues there recall her as having left an indelible impression as a strong woman leader, and say they frequently find themselves asking, "What would Maria say or do?" In addition to Maria's successful career, her most important accomplishment in life was becoming a mother. That miracle happened in August 2011 when she gave birth to a beautiful girl, Georgiana Olivia. Georgiana was the love of her life and gave her every reason to live and fight her battle. Maria was a devoted and wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone. Her strength, keen intelligence, humor, and caring heart will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving daughter Georgiana Olivia Platsis, her parents George and Barbara Platsis, her sister and brother-in-law Christina Platsis Volkwein and James Volkwein, and their daughters Chloe, Celia, and Caroline. Raymond Eric Nadeau, a cherished member of the Riverside, CT community, passed away on November 9th, 2023, at the age of 69. Born in Montreal, QC, he was the beloved son of Renaud Nadeau and Joyce Williams Nadeau. Raymond's journey through life was marked by dedication and accomplishment. He earned his degree in business management from Concordia University, laying the foundation for a remarkable career. At the young age of 22, he embarked on a professional journey with Cadbury Schweppes, setting the stage for a lifelong commitment to excellence. Over the years, Raymond ventured into various industries, leaving his mark at companies such as Star Kiss Tuna, Vachon, and Canadelle, a division of Sara Lee Corporation. Sara Lee took Raymond and his family across the globe, from Sydney, Australia, to the United States. However, it was his entrepreneurial spirit that led him to establish White Space Marketing, a consulting business that he passionately nurtured until his well-deserved retirement. Beyond the boardroom, Raymond found joy in the simplicity of life. An avid outdoorsman, he reveled in the winter months, where skiing became not just a pastime but a passion. His love for travel enriched his life experiences, and he was a fervent supporter of the Montreal Canadiens. Yet, his greatest joy came from the time spent with those he held dear. Raymond is survived by his devoted spouse, Lorraine Nadeau, his daughter Melanie and her husband Matt Backs, his son Justin Nadeau, and his two cherished grandchildren, Mirabelle and Leo Backs. Sadly, he was predeceased by his son Eric Raymond Nadeau.
