Dona Lee Bearden, 100 years old, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Howe, Texas, passed from this life Tuesday, June 21, 2022. She was born December 9, 1921 in Strawn, Texas, the daughter of Tom and Eva Jane (Boyd) Speer. She attended school in Strawn, Springer Gap, Brad, and graduated from Caddo High School in 1940. She worked on B-24's at the Consolidated Aircraft plant in Ft. Worth during the war. On January 14, 1947, Dona married Aubrey Willis Bearden of Howe Texas and they were married for 53 years, until his death in 2000. She began a beautician career in Orlando Florida in the 1960's and finished her career working in Howe Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Howe and enjoyed working her craft with the "Wednesday Workers". She attended there until she moved to her independent living apartment in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was an avid craftsperson and loved to sew, paint, and do any type of crafting in her home sewing/crafting room. Dona is survived by her son, John Bearden and his wife Karen of Pryor, Oklahoma; her daughter, Carolyn LeNoir and her husband Rick of Commerce City, Colorado. She is proceeded in death by her husband Aubrey, father Tom Speer and mother Eva (Boyd) Speer of Palo Pinto, Texas, brother Kenneth Speer of Jal, N. M. , and brother R. T. , Speer of Howe, sister Betty West of Mineral Wells Texas, and sister Shirley St. Clair of Palo Pinto, Texas. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Saturday, June 25, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Howe, Texas. Rev. Joe Ed Goolsby of First United Methodist Church of Sherman, Texas will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First United Methodist Church in Howe, Texas.
