On February 24, 2024, at the age of 81, the matriarch of the Guadalupe Family, Ramona Santiago, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico on April 19, 1942 and moved to New York City at the age of 6.She met and married her first husband Bolivar Guadalupe Sr., to whom she was married for 39 years, before his passing in June of 1997. She is survived by her 5 children, Rosalie & Jim Blessing, Yolanda & George Pena, Bolivar & Patrice Guadalupe Jr, Moses & Daisy Guadalupe Sr. and Gary & Mimi Guadalupe Sr. AKA: Ro, Yo, Bo, Mo and Gary. She is also survived by her second husband Antonio Santiago.Ramona, aka Ramonita / Moncha / Monchita loved her family dearly. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Newcomb Hospital, at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino as a Room Attendant. She retired as a Senior Housekeeping Attendant from the Vineland Developmental Center. She loved sewing. She made her children’s clothes. Ramona loved using her hands to knit hats, scarfs, booties and other things. She would crochet blankets for her grandchildren and enjoyed macrame. She loved music, the beach, casinos, flowers, birds, puzzles, elephants, those Spanish soap operas and watching TV in bed.She’s left a profound impact on her 13 Grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, her brothers, sisters, friends, family and extended family. She will be missed, but eternally loved, until we meet again.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM from the Semper Marine Detachment Hall 2041 W. Landis Ave. Vineland. Judith Diane "Judy" Gonzalez, 74, of Vineland, passed away in her home on February 26th, 2024. Judy was born in Bridgeton to Irene Jones and Clyde Carter on June 24th, 1949. Judy devoted her time working with disabled children. She loved caring for all around her, and opened her heart to many. Her compassion for family and friends will not be easily forgotten. Judy is survived by her husband, Rolando Gonzalez of Vineland; her children, John and Sherri Shukovsky, Billy Joe Shukovsky and Kristina Williams, Jason Bonney, Toby and Tennille Allen, and Celeste Garza; her sisters, Anita Porch, Sheila Williams, and Joanne Reimel; her grandchildren, Paige Gorgo, Kayla Williams-Shukovsky, Arianna Hayes, Tatiana and John Shukovsky, Morgan, Connor and Jacob Allen, and Madison Bonney; her great-grandchildren, LJ Gorgo, Kayshawn Williams-Shukovsky, and Delaney Gorgo; and many nieces and nephews. Ramon Concepcion, 69 of Vineland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 1, 1955 to his mother, Theresa Alvarez and his father, Fabian Concepcion in the Bronx, New York. He was a graduate of the Music and Art School in the Bronx, NY and was a devoted husband, and father. He is survived by his wife, Raquel and his son, Ray David Concepcion; 4 sisters-in-law and 7 brothers-in-law including Maria Flores. Ramon was a professional musician who provided his talent to a variety of well known famous performers in the world of Latin Music, including Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco and many others. Friends and family will be received on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 3pm to 4pm, followed by funeral services at 4pm at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

Joyce Baltus, 85, of Vineland, New Jersey died on February 24, 2024 after an extended illness. She was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey on February 25, 1938 to Louis and Bertha Foss. She lived in Vineland and married Cyrus Baltus in 1958. She is survived by Cyrus and their three children, Marissa, Michele and Louis and five grandchildren, Mikayla, Shoshana and Gabriella, and Brianna and Adina. Joyce and Cy met and fell in love in 1956, after Cy was discharged from the service. They married and Cy moved from Philadelphia to Vineland to join Joyce's family's business, the iconic Foss and Company on Delsea Drive, where she often assisted during the busy season. Joyce contributed to her community, especially the Jewish community of Vineland through her work at the Jewish Federation, Hadassah, and the Hebrew Women's Benevolent Society. She especially enjoyed her community of seniors and arranged programming, trips and outreach for them. She was instrumental in building a memorial to those that died during the Holocaust with ties to the greater Vineland community at the Alliance Cemetery. She guided the seventh grade curriculum to include a trip to this memorial. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11am from Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 East Park Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma. Ruth A. Sutton, 77, of Fairton passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. The daughter of the late Jesse Ford and Anna Biddle Ford, she was born in Bridgeton and was the wife of the late Dennis I. Sutton. She had been a resident of Fairton for 56 years and had lived in Bridgeton prior to that. Before her retirement, Ruth had been employed at the Boscov’s Department Store in Vineland in both the Men’s Department and the Cosmetics Department. She is survived by her daughter, Monica A. Gregg of Fairton; two grandsons, Cory VanMeter and Jeffrey VanMeter, Jr.; a great-grandson, Dominic Dayoc; six sisters, Mary Lou Howell of CA, Harriet Dosio of WI, Christine Blair of Leesburg, Beverly Ford of WI, Sharon Testerman of VA, Bertha Swidersky of Millville and her close friend, Darryl Gould. In addition to her parents and her husband Dennis, she was predeceased by her infant son, Dennis I. Sutton, Jr. and her siblings, Jesse Ford, Florence Ford and Linda Gaskill. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Robert Charles Gadson Sr

Robert Charles Gadson Sr was born to Hattie Gibbs Gadson and Moses Gadson on June 27, 1937, in Large Pa. He was the 7th of eleven children. He was educated in the Clairton school system in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. After high school he joined the US Air Force. After a 2-year stint in the USAF he joined the US Navy, serving an additional 18 years. He married his high school sweetheart, one Gwendolyn Louise Pipkins on February 25, 1957. Together they had five children, Pamela, Robert Jr., Kymberli, Tracey and Stephanie. He travelled with his family to several U.S. deployments in California and Florida. He served and survived two tours to Vietnam. Bob retired from the US Navy in 1975 and settled in Dayton OH. He worked for civil service at Wright Patterson Air Force Base another 20 years. During that time, he attended Sinclair Community College earning an associate degree in management. He was a member of the Elks, the Masons and the Shriners. His marriage to Gwendolyn ended in divorce in 1980. In 1987 he and Michelle Howard welcomed his 6th child, Bryan Charles Gadson. Bob was an avid jazz fan. Miles Davis, Cannonball and Nate Adderly, Gloria Lynn and others were staples in his household. He loved his hometown teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates. He enjoyed watching all sports as he was quite the athlete himself. He moved to NJ in 1998, to be close to his now grown children and his growing nine grandchildren and soon to come, seven great grandchildren. Now that was a mutual love affair. Not long after, he joined the historic Mother Bethel AME in Philadelphia. (He was raised in AME in Clairton, Pa.) During covid restrictions he attended Tabernacle Baptist where two of his daughters were members. He was a God chaser, reading his Bible daily, trying to live Godly. He departed this life on February 12, 2024, after a brief illness. He is survived by his ex-wife, Gwendolyn, children, Pamela Bell (Garrick), Robert Jr, Kymberli Gadson, Tracey Gadson, Stephanie Gadson and Bryan Gadson, sister Nia, brothers, Bill and Dave. Several Sisters in law and Brothers in law, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren and many friends and neighbors that were all touched by his 86 years of loving life.

Martha Scheryl Gant

Martha Scheryl Gant was born on January 20, 1949, in the state of New York to Ms. Alvina Alston and Mr. Leroy Gant, Sr. From the age of 6 she was raised by Leroy and her stepmom, Mabel Gibbons Gant, along with 2 of their other children. Scheryl loved to sing and had a lovely soprano voice. In her youth she belonged to a junior singing group, “The Chamberites” in White Plains, NY in addition to often singing with her younger siblings Deborah and Leroy, Jr. Later in life she became a faithful member of the Abundant Life church in Beverly, NJ., where she sang in their Abundant Life Fellowship Choir. In addition, she was a member of Abundant Life Sisters of Excellence life group, Exhale Women's Fellowship and she worked with the Kids Nursery/Toddler Ministry before she became ill. Scheryl also loved fine dining and attending cultural events. She was a very bright student with an easy outgoing personality. After graduating Woodlands High school in Westchester County, NY she attended Fordham University, Bronx, NY. While there she received a scholarship and transferred to New York’s Columbia University School of Journalism. Scheryl blossomed into an accomplished and dedicated professional who was able to adapt to several different career fields. She was certified as a computer operator and worked at Avon in Westchester County. Shortly her skills and love of journalism led her to work for several papers owned by the Gannett Westchester Newspaper group before being recruited by “The Charlotte Observer” in NC where she worked for several years. She relaunched her career turning to the hospitality industry where she worked at several hotels before elevating to Training Manager at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ. After a downturn in that industry, she became an Executive Assistant for a department director at an HMO. Highly regarded, in 2004 she was referred to Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, NJ where she became a Manager/Associate Fellow at their John S. Watson Institute for Public Policy until illness forced her to retire in 2018. Prior to her retirement and even after she continued to utilize her superb journalism talent and conceptual skills to write grants, reports and articles for individuals and several organizations including the Teamsters Union, Exhale Women's Fellowship, Inc. and her church. On Saturday, February 10, 2024, Scheryl answered the call of her heavenly father. She was preceded in death by her mother Mrs. Alvina (Alston) Murphy, her father Mr. Leroy Gant, Sr., Stepmother, Mrs. Mabel Gant, and a brother Mr. Gary Murphy. She leaves to cherish her memory four sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Jeanette C. Witter (Leon) of Yemassee, SC, Mrs. Deborah Gant-Hauges (Donald Small) of Augusta, GA, Mr. Leroy (TJ) Gant, Jr. (Joyce) of Browns Mills, N.J, Mr. Freddie Murphy of New York, NY, Ms. Patricia Murphy of New York, NY, Mrs. Cynthia Bennett (Curtis) of New York, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
