Don McDaniel 79 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Funeral Services are scheduled for 3 o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Encounter Church with Pastor Brianna Curran, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Don will be available for viewing at the funeral home from 12 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. Don was born on October 30, 1943 in Dumas, TX to Don Calvin and LaRou Elizabeth McDaniel. He grew up in Dumas where he attended Dumas High School. After school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as an MP. After his release from the Army, he was a parts salesman in Arkansas for over 30 years. He then moved back to Dumas where he sold headstones and owned and operated a game room. He was of Christian Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Janet Newton and brother, Robby. Don is survived by his children: Don Douglass McDaniel, Jr. , Yevonne Dyke of Las Vegas, NV, Yevette Whittlesey and husband David of Rogers, AR; 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; siblings: Dean McDaniel and wife Leah of Conroe, TX, Rhonda McDaniel of Dumas, TX, Tony McDaniel and wife Sharon of Henderson, NV, Randy McDaniel and wife Melissa of Bastrop, TX; sister-in-law: Brenda McDaniel of Hendersonville, TN; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Calvin Eugene Patterson passed away November 25th, 2023 at Great Plains Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dumas, Texas surrounded by family. Calvin was born June 17, 1936 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Dorothy (Wilson)and Wilfred "Cotton"Patterson. Thanks to the school bus driver his first day of school, many friends and family forever knew him as "Peanut. " Calvin attended Burlington Schools and was salutatorian for both eighth grade and again in 1954 when he graduated. He was active in choir, FFA, basketball, baseball and tennis. He continued to play tennis much of his life and was known to outplay his adult sons. Immediately followin high school, Calvin joined the army and was stationed in Fort Bliss along with his older brother Jim. He was later stationed in Greenland at a vital radar sight. Calvin excelled due to his skills at building and repairing just about anything. While there he and four other men were ordered to travel from their base to a remote location to repair the radar tower but due to a blizzard were trapped for 56 days wih minimal rations. After a brief courtship, Calvin and Patricia "Patt" (Rathgeber) were married at her childhood home on August 26th, 1956. They were married for 66 years. They lived for a year in Fairfield, California where Calvin was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. They returned to Kiowa and Wichita, Kansas then settled in Cherokee, Oklahoma for the arrival of their first son, Michael in 1957. Two more sons, Jim and Gary arrived in 1958 and in 1960. Their fourth son Dick was born in 1967. While working at Cherokee Home Appliance, Calvin attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva graduating in 1965 with a degree in English. He returned to college and received his education endorsement in 1971. Patt and Calvin moved to Woodward ,Oklahoma for Calvin to begin his teaching career as an English and speech/theatre coach at Woodward High School. He continued his education receiving a master's degree in School Administration from Oklahoma State University in the spring of 1979. At the time of his retirement in 1994, he was teaching a vocational work program at Woodward High School. Patt and Calvin were active members for many years in the Woodward Coin Club. They also traveled the United States finding a record number of Geocaches. Calvin continued to do remodeling, bonded electrician work and appliance repair. During his lifetime he built much of the furniture in their home from harvested trees, made detailed, miniature, wooden toys from recycled cigar boxes, created silver and turquoise jewelry, got his pilot's license, tinkered with restoring a 1950 DeSoto and rebuilt computers making what he called Frankenputers. Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Patt in June of 2023, parents Dorothy and Cotton Patterson, his siblings Virginia Zahorski and Jim Patterson. Also preceding him in death were his mother and father in-law Gladys (Schwanz) and Cecil Rathgeber. Calvin is survived by his sister, Mary (Patterson) Stauffer of Pryor, Oklahoma, four sons Michael Eugene and Kristy Patterson of Guymon, Oklahoma, James Edwin Patterson of San Diego, California, Gary Lee and Alicia Patterson of Newport News, Virginia and Dick Alan and Shaunda Patterson of Fritch, Texas. Grandchildren are Kiley Patterson Rios and husband Aaron of Yukon, Oklahoma, Lindsay Patterson Skelton and husband James of Texhoma, Oklahoma, Kelsey Patterson Sanders and husband Sean of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Amanda Patterson of Gloucester, Virginia, Tyler Patterson of Newport News, Virginia, Shey Patterson and Trace Patterson both of Amarillo, Texas. Great grandchildren are Berkley Rios, Tate Skelton, Lily Skelton, Quinn Skelton, Calvin Sanders, Kris Sanders, Alicia Patterson, Korbin Patterson, Tristen Patterson and Alexander Patterson. Calvin will be remembered for his quick wit and his stories to his grandchildren about The Old Indian. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 4th at 2 p. m. under the care of Bunch Robert's Funeral home in Guymon, Oklahoma with Russell Tidwell officiating. Harold Wayne 'Buck' Bulkley, age 90, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, after a brief illness at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center. Born on May 2, 1933, in Shallow Water, Kansas, Harold was one of seven children born to Harrison Wayne and Violet Marie Bailey Bulkley. He was a retired Navy Veteran, 20 years, and a Southwestern Public Service Journeyman 25 years. A longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Harold was a past Commander of VFW Post 9022 in Dumas Texas, past Chaplin of VFW Post 9477 in Lovington, NM and member of VFW Post 3894 in Waxahachie, Texas. Harold was an avid car buff, having rebuilt and worked on many vintage cars. On April 21, 1954, Harold married Beulah Pearl 'Nickey' Dixon in Dumas, Texas. Beulah passed in 2006. He married Bettye Moyers in 2007. She lives. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah, his parents, two brothers Robert Bulkley and Ronie Bulkley and one sister Ann Eckels. Mr. Bulkley is survived by his son, Timothy James Bulkley (Sally) and daughter, Deana Bulkley Wright (Sterling); five grandchildren, Timothy James Bulkley, II (Amanda), David Bulkley, Allison Bulkley, Hayley Wright (Robert) and Lyssie Wright; two great grandchildren, Timothy James 'Tripp' Bulkley, III and soon-to-be born Rebecca Hazel Bulkley; and three sisters, Bonnie Sauer, Louise Williams and May Landgraff. The family will receive friends from 11-12:00 PM, Friday, November 17, 2023 at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox with military rites provided by the American Legion Post 224 and VFW Post 9022. Burial will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Sarah Lummus, 85 of Amarillo, formerly of Dumas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson Morrison Funeral Directors. Sarah was born in Clarendon, Texas to Raymond and Grace Finchum on June 17, 1938. Sarah married William (Bill) E. Lummus in 1956 and they had four children. Sarah had been a resident of Dumas, Texas since she was a little girl. She moved to Amarillo in 2021. Sarah always took pride in her hometown and the history of Dumas and the surrounding area. Sarah loved art, especially the works of local artists, Carolyn Stallwitz and Manuel Franco. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of the local museum "Window on the Plains". Sarah loved roaming the creek bed at Plum Creek looking for "rose rocks" which she always found. She was also a very good cook and seamstress and had a great love of reading. She especially loved mysteries, local authors and history. Sarah worked as a librarian for many years and as a medical office manager before retiring. Sarah was preceded in death by former husband and lifelong friend, William (Bill) E. Lummus and her son, Brian E. Lummus. She is survived by three daughters, Vanessa Cardwell and husband Lee of Amarillo Texas, Tonya McCandless and husband Curtis of Shattuck, Oklahoma and Lynne DeLaRosa and husband Raymond of Amarillo, twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Bell of Katy, Texas and Patricia Oldham of Farmington, New Mexico and sister-in-law Shirley Beard of Dennison, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made to any Hospice organization.Show more
