Mr. Don GoreMr. Don A. Gore, age 90, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life Friday evening, October 6, 2023, at his home. Don was born the third of seven children to Henry Clay and Ella Carroll Gore on October 9, 1932, in De Queen. Don attended Horatio High School and later, in 1954, enlisted with the United States Army. He faithfully served one year, eleven months, and twenty-nine days, until his honorable discharge. On March 2, 1956, Don married the love of his life, Hope Virginia Willis, in De Queen, and to this union, three children were born. Don worked a number of years for Weyerhaeuser Company before starting his career in Auto Body. He worked twenty-three years for Cole Pontiac to later return to De Queen to assist with the body shop at De Queen Ford, until his retirement. He also owned and operated Don Gore Body Shop for several years. Don and Hope were instrumental in the founding of the Sevier County Developmental Center in De Queen, where he spent a great part of time assisting with the clients whom he dearly loved. During this time, Don served almost thirty years on the SCDC Board of Directors, serving a number of years as President. He and Hope are member of First Baptist Church in De Queen, and he was also a member of the Sevier County ARC and JCs. Don enjoyed working in his yard, photo and videography, traveling, spending time with the clients of SCDC and his family. Don will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Donna Renea Lamb; and two brothers, Glen and Benny Gore. Don leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over sixty-seven years, Hope Gore of De Queen; one son, Stacy Don Gore of Sherwood; one daughter, Carol Lynette Gore of De Queen; one son-in-law, Vernon Lamb of Nashville; two grandchildren, Jamey Lamb of Fayetteville, and Sarah Gore and her fiance Aidan Crum, also of Fayetteville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, H. C. Gore of Fort Worth, and Randy and Nancy Gore of De Queen; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marnetta Bishop of Little Rock, and Joetta and Roy Douglas of Rockwall; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, staff members and clients of the Sevier County Developmental Center, and a host of friends. Graveside Services for Mr. Don Gore will be held at 10:00 A. M. , Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Tony Bob Ray and Clark LeForce officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. , Tuesday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Betty GrinageMrs. Betty Sue Friend Grinage, age 73, resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, November 27, 2023, in the CHRISTUS St. Michael Heath System, Texarkana, Texas. Betty was born one of three children to the union of George Wallace and Stella Mae Tedford Friend on April 28, 1950, in Dierks, Arkansas. She was a 1968 graduate of Dierks High School and went on to attend Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. Betty was a homemaker, tending to her family and raising her children. On June 21, 1994, Betty married the love of her life, Terry Lee Grinage, in Texarkana, Arkansas. She enjoyed traveling with Terry and her family, hunting, fishing, nature, and just being outdoors. Betty best spent her time with Terry, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Stella Friend; her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Charlene Friend; her brother-in-law, Randy Hall; and a nephew, Russell Hall. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of almost thirty years, Terry Grinage of Texarkana, Arkansas; her sister, Linda Hall of De Queen; their children and spouses, Shelly and Johnny Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, Beth and Glenn Lummus of Texarkana, Arkansas, Frankie Mills of De Queen, Arkansas, and Rowdy and Shirley Horner of Genoa, Arkansas; she was "MawMaw" to her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends she called family. Mr. Donald Batty, Jr. , age 77, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, November 20, 2023 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. He was born January 26, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a U. S. Navy Air Reserves veteran. He was owner of B&B heating and air and HVAC supervisor for De Queen schools for over 33 years and also worked for Weyerhaeuser as a mechanic for 11 1/2 . He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, water skiing, watching his children and grandchildren play sports, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Ward Batty and Virginia P. LaVoie; two sisters, Jane Winter and Jennifer Wellman. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Foster Batty, two sons, John (Stormie) Batty, Gerald (LaDonna) Batty; one daughter, Jean (Brandon) Price all of De Queen, grandchildren, Jace Batty, Reagan Batty, Kaylee Morgan, Jacob Olalde, Natalie Dorsey, Daniel Birmingham, Ty Dorsey, Cammy Olalde, Kairi Garza, Aspen Price and TilliAnn Batty; step mother, Myrtle Batty of Hot Springs; one beloved niece, Christina Winter of Cambridge, Massachusetts; one brother, Vince Wellman of Hot Springs, Arkansas and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Vicente LopezMr. Vincente Lopez Alcocer, age 65, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at his home. Vicente was born November 13, 1957, in Puebla, Mexico, to Isauro Lopez Sanchez and Delfina Alcocer Vidal. Vicente worked in different capacities over the years, including time at Pilgrim's Pride in De Queen and Poulan in Nashville. Most recently, Vicente worked around doing yardwork and cutting firewood. He was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in De Queen, and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and loved cooking. He best spent his time with his loving family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isauro Lopez Sachez and Delfina Alcocer Vidal; and five siblings, Balberto Lopez, Esteban Lopez, Victorina Lopez, Juan Lopez, and Dionicio Lopez. Vicente leaves to cherish his memory, five children, Carmela Lopez, Sawyer Lopez, Jason Lopez, and Mareli Lopez, all of Atoka, Oklahoma, and Ernestina Lopez of Mexico; one grandchild; six siblings and their spouses, Francisco Lopez and wife Senoria of De Queen, Eladio Lopez and wife Lisa of Nashville, Baulbina Lopez of De Queen, Eusebia Lopez of De Queen, Alberta Lopez of De Queen, and Ambrosia Lopez of Springdale; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Mr. Ronnie BaileyMr. Ronald Wayne Bailey, age 70, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Thursday evening, November 2, 2023, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ronnie, as he was known to family and friends, was born one of ten children to the union of Floyd Washington and Blanche Elizabeth Campbell Bailey on July 28, 1953, in De Queen. Ronnie worked many years for the City of De Queen, working in a number of different capacities. On May 17, 1996, Ronnie married the love of his life, Shirley. Ronnie and Shirley were members of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in De Queen, and he was faithful member of the Oak Grove Hunting Club. Ronnie retired from the city around 2019, to spend more time with Shirley and their grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and fishing, but best spent his time with Shirley chasing their grandchildren and going to ballgames. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Shirley Bailey; one grandson, Timothy Craig Westbrook; three siblings, Nell Crump, Randell Bailey, and DeLois Gentry. Mr. Wilbon WrayMr. Wilbon D. Wray, Jr. , age 82, of Ashdown, Arkansas, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown. Wilbon, or "Buddy" as he was known to most, was born to Wilbon D. Wray, Sr. and Gladys Pearl Teasley Wray on September 7, 1941, in De Queen. He was a 1959 graduate of De Queen High School and later enlisted with the United States Navy. Buddy faithfully served one tour in Vietnam before receiving his honorable discharge. He later went to work in Maintenance at Domtar in Ashdown, retiring after twenty-seven years of service. On December 12, 1991, he married Sandra Gail Atkins in Ashdown, and together they shared over thirty-two loving years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, and he enjoyed fishing, history, westerns, cooking, and was an avid reader. Most of all, he loved being "Papaw" to his doting grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Stacey Wray.
