Don Connell Obituary

Don W. Connell, age 92, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1930, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Harvey and Rose (Judge) Connell. After graduating from Mount Vernon High School, Don enlisted into the United State Army and was proud of his service to his country. He earned a Bronze Star for his heroism. Once his service was complete, Don joined the Mount Vernon Fire Department. Don and his wife Helen owned and operated Connell's Furniture in Mount Vernon, Ohio, which they started in 1957. Don was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and he and his wife Helen taught Sunday School and were involved in various administrative activities. Don was a Treasurer for Hospice of North Central Ohio and served on the Board as well. He loved to travel with his wife throughout the United States and the world. He also enjoyed golfing in his spare time. He is survived by his children, Don J. (Candie) Connell, Edward (Linda) Connell, Janet (Kenneth) Reynolds; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-granddaughter. Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife Helen D. Connell. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 11:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service Starting at 12:00 PM at the Snyder Funeral Home-Lasater Chapel; 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 with Roger Marra officiating.
