Mr. Luther Edward Street, age 82, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (April 23, 2019) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born November 8, 1936 in Rowe, Virginia, he was a son of the late Lee A. and Ida Roxie Street. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the Keen Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a disabled coal miner, having been employed by Pittston Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, but most of all spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Mabel Brown, Ollie Mae Lester, Betty Ward, Ruby Street, Clarence Street, and Hobert Street. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Gay Hess Street of the home; two sons, Eddie Street and wife, Regina and Stevie Street all of Rowe; three grandchildren, Jessica Beasley and husband, Joe of Tazewell, Amanda Moose and husband, Andrew of Rowe, and Brian Street of Swords Creek; four great-grandchildren, Daphne Beasley, Reed Beasley, Hunter Moose, and Faith Moose; one sister, Virginia Peck of Grundy; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Randy Webb officiating. Interment will follow in the Hess-Nuckles Cemetery on Fletchers Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Brian Street, Tim Street, Kalvin Hess, Michael Street, Billy Peck, Danny Street, Andrew Moose, and Joe Beasley. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Keen Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
