Our dear father and patriarch of our family, Dominic Laface, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 9, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 24, 1932 to his dear parents, the late Domenica and Salvatore Laface. Dominic was a dedicated husband to Maria Laface for 68 years, and a loving father, grandfather & great grandfather. Dominic's life journey began in Tresilico, Reggio Calabria, Italy where he was born and he later embarked on a new chapter on October 4, 1949 when he & his dad Salvatore emigrated to Elizabeth, NJ, a place he would call home for the rest of his life. Dominic began working with his father in the garment industry, traveling to NYC for years. Dominic then labored as a construction worker for Laborer's Local 394 to support his family for many years, leaving a lasting legacy of hard work. He would later work as a custodian for the Elizabeth Board of Education at George Washington School No. 1. Dominic was a member of the Men's Vallatese Club in Elizabeth, where he valued the bonds of friendship and camaraderie he formed there. He loved gardening where he grew beautiful roses. He also had a vegetable garden & grape vine. He liked sports, was a NY Giants fan and also played and enjoyed soccer. He was a Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune enthusiast, his favorite car was a Cadillac and he had a sweet tooth with his favorites being cannolis and pignoli cookies. As a man of faith and as a parishioner of St Anthony's Church in Elizabeth he found his spiritual fulfillment. To know him was to love him, he was a kind and gentle soul, his family always came first and he would do anything to make sure they felt loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kind & selfless nature touched the lives of many, and his memory will forever be held in their hearts. Dominic is predeceased by his sisters: Mary DeLorenzo and her husband Frank; Rose Caruso and her husband Dominick; brother in law Joseph LaBracio, sister in law Mary Laface and nephews Chuck LaBracio and Joseph Caruso who have gone before him. He leaves behind a loving legacy in the hearts of his adoring children; Ann Marie Laface, Salvatore Laface and his wife Shaun and Linda Laface, as well as his cherished grandchildren; Michael Jackus, Kristopher Jackus and his wife Jacqueline; Dominic, Brock & Colton Laface; and Alyssa, Jessica & Alaina Martinez and his beloved great grandchildren Evan Jackus, Dean Jackus and Bella Laface. His loving siblings Grace LaBracio, Connie Ventrice and her husband Vincent, Joseph Laface and wife Marie; Frank Laface, Anthony Laface and his wife Barbara and many loving nieces and nephews. Memorial Donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Serenity Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, Linden on Friday, September 15, 2023, 8:30 am until time of funeral mass at St. Anthony's RC Church in Elizabeth at 11:00 am.
