Domingo "Sunday" R. Quintela Jr. went to his heavenly home peacefully at Baycrest Memory Care on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, after spending the morning listening to the divine mercy chaplet with his wife Virgnia and children by his side. Domingo was born in Ft. Stockton, Texas on September 1, 1944, to Domingo Quintela, Sr. and Elena (Ramos) Quintela. He was 79 years old. Domingo attended schools in Ft. Stockton and was involved in football and FFA. He later married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Virginia Ramirez in August of 1962. They were married for 61 years. They lived in Monahans, Arizona, Midland, Snyder and later retired in San Angelo, Texas. Domingo worked for Mobil Pipeline for 28 years. He spent 18 months in Saudi Arabia during his career at Mobil. Domingo enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, working on Mustang cars, cooking, and hanging out with his family and friends. He was a master carpenter who built his own home in Midland and two others in San Angelo. Domingo also loved to serve other people and never met a stranger. To be Domingo's friend was to definitely have a friend for life and probably a fun nickname as well. He served as a Knight of Columbus and volunteered at Meals for the Elderly. He enjoyed having breakfast or lunch with his buddies and watching college and NFL football with his wife and family. He helped coach and lead several of his children's activities as well as being one of the biggest fans of his grandkids at all of their events. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were one of his greatest joys. Domingo is survived by his wife, Virginia, and his children, Sharon Maldonado (Teo) of Corpus Christi, Debra Melott (James) of San Angelo, Thomas Quintela (Rosie) of San Angelo, and Christy Smith (Ben) of Snyder, Texas, his grandchildren: Brittany Cibrian (Pete) of Corpus Christi, Corbin Smith (Ashley) of Snyder, Kaitlin Silvas (Derrick) of Refugio, Mallory Khantharasy (Dylan) of San Angelo, Nick Melott (Brooke) of Des Moines, Hannah Orwick (Brayden) of Burleson and Cheyenne Quintela of Austin, his great-grandchildren: Luke, Jordan, Ramses, Aiden, Gavin, Aubrey, and Milo, and his siblings: Socorro Olivas of Monahans and Ofelia Talavera of Cleburne. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Domingo and Elena Quintela and sisters Cruz White and Senaida Smith. The Quintela family would like to thank the staff at Baycrest and Angels Care Hospice for their kind and loving care. A rosary vigil will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, September 14th at Harper Funeral Home. A celebration mass and commendation of ashes at Holy Angels Catholic Church at 10:30am on Friday, September 15th.

Charles Nathan Cheatwood, 88, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023 at Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Center in San Angelo, surrounded by family and caregivers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM -3:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be performed at a later date in Lexington, North Carolina. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. He was born April 15, 1935 in Ozark Arkansas, the youngest child of Nathan Charles Cheatwood and Willie Azora Clayton Cheatwood. In 1940, the family moved to Seminole, OK, before later moving to Oklahoma City where Charles attended Northeast High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1952, and after his basic training in Ft. Riley, KS, received airborne training in Benning, GA. He was later assigned to the 307th Airborne Medical Battalion (MASH) in Ft. Bragg, NC. While stationed at Fort Bragg, Charles met Carolyn Leonard, and they were married on November 6, 1954 in York, SC. Carolyn passed away in June of 2023, shortly before the couple's 69th anniversary. They had two children, Charles, Jr. ("Chuck"), and Connie. Charles had a gift for languages, and his long and distinguished military career included attending Army Language School in 1956 for training in Chinese Mandarin. In 1957, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster after serving as an interpreter for the Armistice meeting of the Neutral Nations Supervisory Committee in Panmunjom, South Korea. His next assignment began in November of 1958 in Fort Hood, where he served as a military intelligence translator (linguistic), before being sent to Fort Holabird, MD for training as a prisoner of war interrogator. From 1962 to 1966, Charles and family were sent to Okinawa, where he served as a translator, interpreter, traffic analyst, and expert linguist, along with additional classified duties. While stationed on Okinawa, the Army sent Charles to Thailand and Vietnam, and awarded him the Joint Services Commendation Medal. In 1966, Charles was assigned to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, where he worked as senior instructor. In June of 1968, Charles received training in Vietnamese at Ft. Bliss, before being stationed at 8th Radio Research Field Station in Phu Bai, Vietnam. While in country, he performed voice intercept and other classified duties. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal 4 Battle Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. In July, 1969, Charles returned to Goodfellow AFB. After 20 years of service, he was honorably discharged in June of 1972 with the rank of Master Sargent. Toward the end of his military career, Charles began charting a new career in radio and television repair by taking a correspondence course. He worked jobs in TV repair and aircraft cable design before opening his own electronics repair business in San Angelo, Triangle Electronics, from which he eventually retired. Charles kept active during his younger years by playing tennis and racquetball. Charles enjoyed fishing and camping, traveling, and spending time at the beach. He was an avid reader throughout his life, and during his declining years spent most of his time reading books. In addition to his beloved wife, Charles was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Willie Cheatwood, his sisters Lorine Reynolds, Birdie Marie Stapleton, Grace Blott, and June Cook, and his brother, Ralph Cheatwood. He is survived by his son, Charles Cheatwood, Jr. and wife Margaret; his daughter Connie Dressler and husband Lee; three grandchildren, David Cheatwood and significant other Kata, John Dressler and wife Caitlin, Bryan Dressler and significant other Veronica; great-grandson, Mathis Dressler; his brother, Floyd Cheatwood; and many nieces and nephews. The Cheatwood/Dressler family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Crest, Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Unit, and Concho Hearts Hospice, all of whom took such good care of Charles during his illness. Nellie Joyce Beene, a beloved resident of San Angelo, TX, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on September 17, 1939, in the small town of Granada, TX, to the late Dorothy and Charlie Weidner. Nellie was a woman who cherished the simple joys in life. She found immense happiness in watching classic westerns, engaging in meaningful conversations with friends and family, and taking pleasure in the company of her cherished grandkids. Her love for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches paired with a refreshing diet coke was one of her guilty pleasures, and a source of many smiles throughout her life. Nellie had a passion for traveling and considered every new journey an opportunity for adventure, always appreciating the beauty and wonder this world had to offer. Nellie found a true partner in her loving husband, Elvin Olan Beene, who she married on June 26, 1965. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Sadly, Nellie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elvin, as well as their son, J. T. Beene, and her brother, Wille Weidner. Left to honor her memory is her devoted son, James Beene, daughter-in-law, Tonya Beene, and daughter, Pauline DuPree, brother, Lifford Weidner, sister, Pauline Burger, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in Nellie's heart. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00am at Grape Creek Cemetery. Manuel Leos, 79, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 3, 2023. He was born on August 27, 1944 in Acuna, Mexico to Manuel and Elida Leos. Manuel graduated from high school in 1960 and went on to obtain a teaching degree from La Normal Superior de Saltillo. He worked as a Spanish and Literature teacher for various schools during his career in Education. Manuel married the love of his life, Gloria Cortez on December 27, 1968. Manuel and Gloria shared 54 beautiful years together until her passing in March of this year. Manuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His witty sense of humor is something that will never be forgotten. Manuel enjoyed helping others and had a deep love for his family. He was also a proud member of Kairos Christian Center. Manuel is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria Leos; his parents, Manuel and Elida Leos, and his sister, Ruth Leos. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Hector Leos and wife Juanita, Gloria Leos Robledo and husband Carlos, Flor Leos, and Ivanna Leos Rocha and husband Joe; grandchildren, Joanna Leos Ornelas and husband Jonathan, Annabella Leos, Karla Robledo, Carlos Robledo, Christian Robledo, Manuel Robledo, Julian Madero, Pablo Madero, Sol Madero, Samantha Rocha Chitsey and husband Colton, Sasha Rocha, and Seth Rocha; and one great-grandchild, Andre Chavez. Manuel also leaves behind his sisters, Maria de los Angeles Leos, Alma Leos, Betty Stewart and Eunice Prock. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 8th, 2023 from 5-8 pm.
