Dolores A. "Dolly" (Frena) Moximchalk, 89, of Latrobe, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Latrobe Manor. Born June 10, 1934 in Mammoth, she was a daughter of the late John and Katherine (Kendi) Frena. Dolly was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at the Touchdown Club. She loved bingo, Pepsi, polka music, and animals, especially dogs. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Jr. and Richard Frena; and four sisters, Margaret Mash, Catherine Karfelt, Mary Polinelli, and Agnes Frena. Dolly is survived by her husband, John P. "Phil" Moximchalk of Latrobe; one daughter, Tanya J. Moximchalk, and her husband Carl Melella, of Sleepy Hollow, NY; two sisters, Elizabeth Mizikar, and her husband Joseph, of Mammoth, and Virginia Sternick of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 pm Friday at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. Private services and entombment will be at St. Clair Cemetery. Priscilla (Ora) King Richmond age 83, formerly of Latrobe, PA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2023. She was active in Exmore Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Shore Emmaus community. Priscilla was a prayer warrior, avid reader, writer of poetry and had a special place in her heart for children. Throughout the course of her lifetime, she served the local community as a pastor's wife, teacher, and held several positions within government most recently as an on-site disaster specialist for FEMA along with being a devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Arlean (Kennedy) King, her husband Reverand George E. Richmond in 1983 and eight brothers and sisters. Priscilla is survived by three children, Dorcas of Cape Charles, VA, Daniel (Jeanette) of Boonsboro, MD and LaDonna (Angela) of Sharpsburg, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren Ian, Haisley, Avven, Kailey, Tahlia Shea and Andrew and nine brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 8th at 3:00 pm at Exmore Baptist Church, 11624 Occohannock Neck Road, Exmore, VA. James J. Boerio, 67, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a valiant three year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born November 16, 1956 in Latrobe, he was a son of the late James A. Boerio and Josephine (Kattan) Boerio. Jim was a member of Saint Vincent Basilica Parish and growing up had been a member of Holy Family Church and attended Holy Family School. A 1974 graduate of Derry Area Senior High School, he was a multisport athlete and proud recipient of the Adam Eidemiller Award. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1978. Throughout his career, Jim had been employed as a district manager for Herman's Sporting Goods and later he held sales management positions with Dick's Sporting Goods and Target. He had also been a racquet ball instructor. For 11 years, as his daughters went through school, Jim was a dedicated supporter of the Greater Latrobe Wildcat Marching Band and volunteered his time with the Greater Latrobe Band Parents Association. Jim loved sports, whether it be playing golf with his league or enjoying the Pittsburgh sports teams. He was particularly fond of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pitt Panthers and was a dedicated fan of Roberto Clemente. Those who knew Jim knew that he easily made friends anywhere and everywhere that he went. His greatest love was his family. He loved being a "girl dad" and was so proud of his new role as "pappy. " He cherished family vacations to Stone Harbor and time spent with those he loved. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Wallace. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Melissa (Wallace) Boerio of Latrobe; his three daughters, Erin M. Boerio, and her husband Steve Patterson, of Littleton, CO, Megan E. Ved, and her husband Dr. Ravi, of Wexford, and Jamie K. Bottger, and her husband Robert, of Clarks Summit, PA; five grandchildren, Neil, Noah, and Nevin Ved, and Bobby and Sophia Bottger; three sisters, Dr. Juliana Boerio-Goates, and her husband Dr. Steven R. , of Orem, UT, Bibiana Boerio of Latrobe, and Barbara Skubick, and her husband George "Skip," of Penn Hills; one brother, John A. Boerio, and his wife Carrie, of Columbus, OH; his mother-in-law, Melissa Wallace of Greentree; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Lori Wallace, Patricia and Jim Hetherington, and Bob and Marie Wallace; he is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Jim's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his "angels" on the third floor oncology unit of AHN Hempfield, Dr. Nathan Bahary, Dr. Paul Renz, Dr. Meilin Young, and the entire MICU staff at Allegheny General Hospital, and Dr. Donald Jakubek, for all of their extraordinary care. Doris Jean Patterson, 87, of Petaluma, CA and formerly of Latrobe, PA, passed away March 25, 2021, at the VA Medical Center Hospice Unit in San Francisco, CA. She had bravely fought metastatic breast cancer for several years. Born June 22, 1933, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Irving and Doris Marie (Wegley) Patterson. Doris Jean graduated from Derry Township High School in 1950 at the age of sixteen. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latrobe joining Elim Lutheran in Petaluma in 2003 as an associate. She loved to read, enjoying mysteries and history. Doris Jean worked at the local telephone company until she was old enough at 18 to enlist. Entering the U. S. Air Force on July 19, 1951, she served in the US and Germany until her selection for Officer Candidate School in late 1955. She completed OCS and Commissioned in 1956. Her military career, working in communication and personnel, led her to many locations. Her favorite, a tour in Thailand, and return orders to Germany as well as Okinawa, Japan, and Italy. She received numerous medals and awards during her service in both the Korea and Vietnam eras including multiple awards for National Defense Service, Air Force Commendation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards, and an Occupation Medal Germany, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Retiring as a Major in 1975 after twenty-four years of service, she settled in Petaluma, CA, completing college at Sonoma State earning a degree in Sociology. She volunteered in her community and at her church. She loved dogs, especially her poodle, Tassie. Doris Jean made a lot of friends along the way, special to her were her Women in the Air Force (WAF) friends with whom she traveled all over for their reunions. They affectionately called her Pat. One trip was to the Women in Military Service Memorial at Arlington attending the dedication in 1997. She was well loved, near and far, and impacted anyone she met with her kindness and sense of humor. Her illness led her to hospice care where she was treated with love, support, dignity, and respect. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of Vicki Olivas Navarro, Joann Conant, Annie Palmer, Emily Taplin, and all the caregivers and nurses at the VAMC Hospice Unit. You were all living proof that there are angels among us. Interment and committal services with Military Funeral Honors will be held December 7, 2023, at Arlington National Cemetery under the direction of the Air Force Chaplain. Georgia R. Himler passed away at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital with her husband at her side on December 1, 2023, after a two-year brave fight with ALS disease. Born on June 15, 1944, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of Ken and Sue Roby (Newingham). She was a graduate of Latrobe High School and Geneva College. Georgia was a retired teacher from Greater Latrobe, teaching first grade students for 35 years. She never considered it to be a job, but rather a joy. When she retired, for 20 years along with her husband Gary, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels America. She was a member of the Latrobe Community Ministries (formerly Latrobe United Methodist Church). A quiet, reserved lady, during retirement she was a member of three lunch groups. She took great pleasure in organizing trips for friends and family. Two to eight couples would travel together in many parts of the USA and the World. She never uttered an unkind word about anyone. She is survived by Gary, her husband of 57 years; three daughters: Ginger Link (Todd) of North Huntingdon, Heidi Conrad (Dave) of Latrobe, and Gretchen Himler (Latrobe); three grandchildren: Luke Conrad, Nathan and Libby Link, who became the great joys of her life; sister: Lenore Potthoff; and nephew: William Potthoff (Missy) and their children: Zach and Megan. He was born December 24, 1928 in Latrobe, a son of the late Ilko and Anna (Byczkowiak) Relick. Mike was a proud U. S. Marine Corps Veteran having served in the Korean conflict. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Ukranian Catholic Church. He was retired from Teledyne Vasco as a group leader. Spike was a founding member of the Kingston Vets and Sportsman Club, a member of the Greek Club, Derry R&G, Latrobe American Legion, and the Slovaks. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a founding member of Kingston 10 Camp in Tionesta. Mike is survived by his children; Michael J. Relick (Barbara), Alex J. Relick, Steve T. Relick (Alison), Debbie Unferdorfer (Charles), Mary C. Shirley, Michell Relick Nuttall (Richard), eleven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. John R. Hunter, 98, of Latrobe, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. Born October 11, 1925 in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Hazel Irene (Hunter) Datz. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Westinghouse Air Brake Company for 40 years. For many years, he volunteered maintaining the field at Latrobe Derry Area Teener League's Rosa-Oglietti Park. John was a U. S. Navy veteran having served in World War II. He was a life member of St. Joe's Social Club and American Legion Post No. 515. He was an avid Steelers and Penn State fan and enjoyed puzzles and playing solitaire. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. (Katana) Hunter; a brother, Russell A. Datz; a sister, Dolores "Dee" Geary; his step-father, Adrian Datz; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. John is survived by one son, John R. Howard Frye Obituary Howard S. Frye 90, of Latrobe, died Thursday November 23, 2023. He was born May 23, 1933 in Salem Township a son of the late Lloyd and Wilda Heddinger Frye. Howard was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latrobe, was a proud US Army Veteran having served as a Military Police officer during the Korean Conflict, had worked at Fisher Auto Body after the war and was a self-employed dairy farmer in Ligonier for over 49 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Glenn, Clair, Carl and Stuart Frye, and five sisters; Jean McKeown, Doris Moffat, Edyth Frye, Elinor Curry and Twyla Weaver. Howard's greatest joy was his family. Howard is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years Alice "Louise" McQuaide Frye, his two sons; Jeffrey H. Frye (Leslie) of Belle Vernon and Gerald B. Loretta Frances (Fajt) Janik, 74, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at her home. Born May 15, 1949 in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Stephen G. Fajt and Frances P. (Guzik) Fajt. Loretta's life revolved around her faith, family, and food. A lifelong member of St. Cecilia Church, Whitney, she was an active volunteer in the parish. For many years she taught CCD and ran the children's games at the annual parish festivals. She was also a longtime member of the choir at St. Cecilia. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she retired from Excela Health to cherish time watching her grandchildren. She loved family picnics and gatherings and strove to keep family traditions alive. Famous for her cooking, Loretta specialized in preparing traditional ethnic food and was always ready to serve a large group, never worried about how many would show up. Loretta earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint Vincent College, and prior to her retirement, she had been manager of patient accounting at Latrobe Area Hospital and Excela Health Latrobe Hospital for 47 years. She also enjoyed time spent sewing, gardening, and canning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Susan Slough; a brother, Canice M. Fajt; her in-laws, Aloysius and Barbara Janik; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Janik. Loretta is survived by her husband, George A. Janik of Latrobe; one daughter, Brigi Slough, and her husband Daniel, of Latrobe; one son, Stephen Janik, and his wife Carly, of Latrobe; three grandchildren, Nora, Sophia, and Benjamin Slough; one sister, Monica Dressman, and her husband John, of Greensburg; one sister-in-law, Jeanne Fajt of Latrobe; her nieces and nephews, Erin Fajt (Ken), Matthew Fajt (Jenn), Tom Dressman (Tina), Rob Dressman (Christine), JJ Matijevic (Taylor), Jenna Matijevic (Logan), David Fajt, Anastasia Fajt, Lainey Dressman, and Brooklyn Deri; she is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family. Betty Jane (Hoffman) Schoming, 91, of Latrobe, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Life's Promise Personal Care Home. Born November 7, 1932 in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. Hoffman Sr. and Mary (Hritz) Hoffman. Betty was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and its choir and Rosary Altar Christian Mothers. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Schoming; three brothers, Joseph J. Jr. , Paul and Frank Hoffman; and two sisters, Helen Bridge and Bertha Otto Potthoff. Betty is survived by two sons, James Mark Schoming, and his wife Debbie, of Greensburg and Chris P.
