Dianne Hern Obituary

Dianne Kay Olson Hern passed away just a few days before what would have been her 74th birthday in Spokane Washington with her family by her side. Dianne was born in Kalispell Montana in 1949 and she was raised in the small idyllic town. The youngest daughter of Selmer (Sam) and Alma Olson, Dianne enjoyed a young life of the classic americana 1950's, full of family time, main street parades, and proud Norwegian traditions. Dianne's father Sam had passed when Dianne was young, and she was then raised by her widowed Mother Alma with the assistance of her sister Bonita (Bonnie). Dianne married and started a family young with her first husband, she had two daughters Wendy Tyree Sheler, and Tami Tyree. Dianne remarried many years later and had two more children, Toby Hern and Heidi Hern with her husband James Hern (deceased). Dianne's legacy will be that of love, she enjoyed time with her family who she loved with all her heart. Her friends were more like family members because of the joy they brought her and that she brought and shared with them. She made a difference in people's lives with her joyful heart, her acceptance and kind and always thoughtful words. Many of her children's friends referred to Dianne as Mom because she was like a second Mom to them, and she would always be there for them with encouraging words, love, and great pride in their accomplishments. Dianne's favorite place to be was at the lake with her family. Her son had purchased a cabin at the lake which served as more of a family vacation home for the family to gather and spend time together celebrating and relaxing over the last 20 years. Dianne enjoyed travelling and was able to go on trips with her family and friends and they will serve as great memories for all. Dianne was an Office Manager for many years in the Construction Industry and has many great friends from the business over the years. Dianne was a very proud Norwegian and enjoyed her Norwegian heritage. She loved making lefse with her family and extended family and was always sure to send packages to loved ones near and far. She loved baking for others and sharing family meals, and celebrating the Holiday's, it will be the simple memories her family will cherish the most. Dianne's love for life and family will remain engrained in her family's hearts, they will tell you it was the biggest love that ever was. Dianne was survived by her son Toby Hern (Spokane), her daughter's Wendy Tyree Sheler and Son in Law Steve Sheler (Columbia Falls), Tami Tyree and Son in Law Jay Joyner (Kalispell), and Heidi Hern Ferrell and Son in Law Josh Ferrell (Spokane). Her sister-in-Law Kay Olson of Albuquerque and many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews who will cherish her loving memory. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents Selmer (Sam) and Alma Olson, her sister Bonita (Bonnie) Olson Torgrimson, her brother's Gerald (Gerry) Olson and baby Gene Olson. As well as her late husband James Hern. A private service will be held at a later date per Dianne's wishes.
