Diane Schnidt, 80, formerly of Elgin, Illinois passed away October 5, 2023. She was currently residing in New Lisbon, Wi. She was born April 22, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Don and Irene Olsen (nee Staudt). Diane enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, going to car shows and riding motorcycle with her late husband Don. She especially loved boating with her kids and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her son Bill (Tammy) Schnidt, daughter Deanna Pease (Scott Hanauer). Grandchildren William (Amber) Schnidt, Jr. , Brandie (Jeff) Kirby, Tiffany and Megan Pease and two great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by husband, father, mother, and sister. A visitation will be held 3-6pm on Saturday, October 14th with family sharing to begin at 5:30 P. M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, Illinois. Anthony Wayne Young born February 23, 1982 in Elgin Il ended his long battle with Huntington's Disease and passed away November 29, 2023 at the young age 41. Anthony passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by the care of his sister Christina (Brett) Halfpenny, and nieces. Anthony served in the US Navy. USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) (Gold) from 2000-2002. Ultimately due to the onset of Huntington's disease Anthony could no longer fulfill his duties. Anthony went on to have 2 sweet, loving, caring and brave children. Blake Young (19) and Maggie Young(16). Anthony was proceeded in death by his mother Theresa Young, adopted father, grandparents, and many beloved family members. Anthony is survived by his 2 children Blake and Maggie Young. Sister Christina Halfpenny (Brett Halfpenny) adopted mother(Cathy Pabst), grandma, aunts, nieces and nephew, and his Huntington's supporters. Anthony fought a long battle with Huntington's Disease that ultimately took his life. Huntington's Disease is a rare hereditary disease that currently has no cure. This disease has impacted many lives of Tony's family and still could impact the lives of his children. Judy Love of South Elgin, Illinois, formerly of Kankakee, Illinois, passed away peacefully November 26th after a long battle with alzeimers. Judy was born May 26th, 1939 in Ottawa, Illinois to Arthur and Evelyn Buehler. It was in Ottawa where she met, and married her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Charles Love. They met at Ottawa High School and married July 19th, 1959. Judy is survived by her husband Charles Love. Four children, Murry Love of Champaign, Illinois, Mark Love of Texas, Matthew Love of Aurora, Illinois, and Sarah Love of South Elgin Illinois. As well as her sister, Julie(Paul) Strehl of Tonica, Illinois. Four grandchildren, Katherine(Esmar Cardenas) Love, Sarah Marie Love, Kennedy Fuchs and Adam Fuchs. And several nieces and nephews. Upon graduating from Ottawa High School in 1957 and marrying her high school sweetheart. Judy was a devoted mother, raising four children before deciding to go to college. She earned an associates degree in nursing from Kankakee Community College in 1977 and was an RN at Riverside Medical Center for 25 years. But her nuturing spirit and unconditional love didn't stop at the hospital steps. Judy was a brave beautiful soul carrying that big beautiful, radiant smile wherever she went. From the other kids in the neighborhood, to people across the community, she was always there to care for and comfort those in need. In retirement Judy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and baking. Judy was a master of cakes, pies and cookies. Especially around the holidays, a tradition, often shared with her daughter and grandchildren. Judy was active in organizing neighborhood events. Events that brought the community together. Belinda Mockler, 73 of Elgin, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023. Belinda was born on Memorial Day, May 30, 1950, graduated from Elgin High School in 1969, and worked at Sherman Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church. Belinda and her parents were active members of the Elgin Lions Club for many years, and Belinda won awards on several occasions for selling the most roses for the Lions Club's annual Rose Day fundraiser. Being vision and hearing-impaired herself, the Lions Club held a special place for Belinda. Belinda was an ardent animal lover, especially cats, and also loved being with children. She will be remembered as a fun-loving aunt and cousin. She was also a proud Green Bay Packers fan, to the great dismay of her Chicago Bears-cheering relatives. Belinda is preceded in death by her loving and devoted parents, Paul and Ida Mockler, and her infant sister Deborah Lea. She is survived by her sister Janine (Richard) Tanner and her brother Paul (Shirley) Mockler, her nephews Mark Tanner and Michael (Alexis) Tanner, and great-nephews Lincoln and Wesley. Her uncle Italo Bove and many cousins. She also leaves behind her sweet kitty Tabby. Our family would like to thank her friends for their unending love and caring they provided Belinda through the years. We would like to say a special thank you to the exceptional staff of The Sheridan of Tyler Creek, who treated her as a friend and provided compassionate care. Janina Maria Majzerowicz, 92, passed away on August 18th, 2023. Janina was born June 8th, 1931 in Pasieka Otfinowska, a small village in Southern Poland, to parents Stefania ?abuz and Piotr Galus. During her childhood, marked by the brutal German and Soviet occupation of Poland, she lived and worked on the family farm and attended school in the nearby city of Tarnow. After a chance encounter at a wedding and a whirlwind courtship, Janina married her husband Bogdan Majzerowicz on July 16, 1953. The couple moved to Tarnow, where Bogdan worked at the family grain mill and Janina settled into life as a homemaker. In 1984, Janina made the life-altering decision to follow her young daughter Margaret to America. Leaving behind all she knew, Janina began a new life in Chicago, where she lovingly helped raise her American grandsons Mark and Michael, providing a crucial link to their Polish heritage. Soon after immigrating, Janina began a new career: working as an at-home caregiver. Over the decades, Janina assisted dozens of elderly individuals, patiently nursing them with uncommon care and love. Throughout her life, Janina was a devout Catholic who took great solace in prayer and the sacraments. She led a life of service to others and made tremendous sacrifices to ensure the welfare of her loved ones both in Poland and in the United States. When she herself fell ill with Alzheimer's in 2013, her daughter Margaret and grandson Mark embodied her legacy of compassion and kindness, nursing Janina at home in Crystal Lake until her passing. Janina was preceded in death by her sister Stanis?awa Soch, her parents, Stefania and Piotr Galus, and her beloved husband, Bogdan Majzerowicz. Janina is survived by her sister, Zofia Pecak; her children, Margaret Majzerowicz-Pecak and Janusz Majzerowicz; grandchildren Mark and Michael Pecak, Krzysztof Majzerowicz, and Ma?gorzata Smagacz; and great-grandchildren Wojciech and Mateusz Smagacz and Jan Majzerowicz. Janina will be interred at St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Niles, Illinois. Her funeral mass at St. Ladislaus Parish in Chicago will take place on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, at 11:00am. It is with great sadness we announce the death of Chris Thompson. Chris died in the early hours of August 20, 2023 at the age of 52, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Chris was having difficulty breathing and after taking oxygen he became unresponsive and could not be revived by cpr. Chris lived in Crystal Lake, IL with his wife Melissa after growing up in Wauconda. Chris married Melissa the greatest wife ever on September 20, 1997 after being together since 1992. They had a daughter Cassandra and two step sons from Chris's first marriage that he treated as his own Robert and James Saltz. Chris worked for the IBEW Local 117 for almost 30 years as a Foreman in the low voltage side. Chris enjoyed running jobs and comradery with the guys he worked with. When not working he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, partying, playing games, hanging out together and cooking, he would make the most delicious meals and then ask everyone how they liked it, definitely appreciated "compliments to the chef". Chris especially enjoyed the time he spent watching and playing with his grandson Xavier. Chris loved having a good time and being the life of the party. Chris is survived by his wife Melissa, daughter Cassandra (Adam) Carr, and step sons Robert (Ashley) Saltz and James (Ashley) Saltz and eight grandkids, brother Kelly Thompson, nephew Brandon Thompson, aunt Shannon Bloznik, cousin Rob (Rebecca) Van Pelt, uncle Tracey Thompson, Father and Mother in law Chuck and Judi Stuck, mother Jackie Smith and aunt Dar Freeman and many friends. Chris's dad Kelly Thompson preceded him in death in 1994 and his grandmother Annie Thompson in 2016. An open house to celebrate and have a toast for Chris will be on Sunday - September 24, 2023 from 12-5 at his and Melissa's home at 9611 Beech Avenue, Crystal Lake. "Gentleman" Jim Collier Born: September 12, 1952 in Woodstock, ILPassed away: Sunday, October 1, 2023James Robert Collier, born to Marle (Bob) and Ruth Collier lived most of his life in Woodstock, IL. The last 22 years, he shared his life with his loving wife, Carol, living in rural Marengo, IL. Jim graduated from Woodstock High School in 1970; and attended Western Illinois University, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelors' degree in History. Survivors include wife Carol (Bond) Collier of 31 years; sister Julia (Collier) Huslig, and husband Alan Huslig of Tucson, Arizona; brother David Collier of Tucson, Arizona; stepdaughter Season Davis of Spring, Texas; grandson Lincoln Denlinger of Spring Texas; and nephews Matthew Collier, Cooper Huslig, and Trey Huslig. Jim had many exceptional groups with whom he shared life. In the early years, he enjoyed road biking with friends who spent weekends riding all through the countryside of McHenry County. For several years, they also participated in the week-long RAGBRAI event biking across Iowa. Jim had gaming friends who played D&D, cribbage, backgammon, Risk and dice. He was also a talented guitar player and singer, sharing his love of music with his musical buddies on numerous occasions. Jim had a love of golf, whether on a league, golfing with a friend, or with the "geezers" at Beaver Creek, he truly loved the game. There are no planned services or visitation. In the following months, we will gather to celebrate Jim's special life. Alzheimer's robbed Jim and his wife Carol of their dreams for retirement to do some traveling, share good conversation, and just enjoy life together. Alzheimer's is a devastating disease. Thomas C. Gries passed away November 10, 2023, at the age of 75 from natural causes in Barrington, IL. Born September 5, 1948 in Chicago, IL, he was one of ten children of Charles H. & Catherine (Prendergast) Gries, deceased. Thomas was a devoted adoptive father of twins, a charismatic teacher at DePaul University, a successful CEO at TESCO and a humanitarian to his family and friends. He was a lover of life who wanted the best for anyone he called friend and his legacy lives on through the hearts he touched around him. Mary A. Willis (78) of Elgin, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023. Mary was born May 26, 1945 to Geraldine (Jahns) and Anthony White. She lived her young life on the west side of Elgin with her siblings Carole and David, along with other relatives nearby. Mary was a parishioner of Saint Laurence until her family moved to the east side of Elgin when she became a parishioner at her favorite church, Saint Mary's. It was during these years when Mary's younger sister Teresa was born. Mary attended Mount Saint Mary Academy in St. Charles and then attended and graduated from St. Edward Catholic High School in Elgin. Among Mary's interests were a love of gardening, exercise, walking, and preparing Italian cuisine. She was also a big fan of 80s and 90s pop music. Mary became a Kane County Election Judge and served for 10+ years. She had a passion for Elgin history and made many contributions and commented on posts on the "Elgin Nostalgia & History" Facebook page. Mary was also interested in knowing more about her own family history, and was especially proud of her grandmother Myrtle who served in the Air Force during World War II. Mary is survived by her brother David (Carol) White and her sister Teresa Lobianco, her two sons, Jeff Willis and Anthony (Karla) Willis. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Lexi Willis, and Isabel and Maya Serio, as well as her nieces and many grand nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Carole Beeson. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 3:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Edwin Lee "Ed" Ray passed away at 6:24 am on October 30, 2023 after a long illness complicated by heart, lung, and kidney disease at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. Ed was born on October 13, 1945, to Cecil V. and Eloise (Wichman) Ray at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He attended public schools in Vincennes, graduating from Lincoln High School in May 1963. He furthered his education at Christian Brothers College (later Christian Brothers University) graduating in May 1967 with a B. S. in Mechanical Engineering. While attending CBC hie met his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo Fisher. They were united in marriage on August 27, 1966 at St. Mary's Cathedral Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Upon graduation from Christian Brothers, he accepted employment at CPC International as a process engineer in Pekin, Illinois. After nine years, he accepted a position with the Amstar Corporation in Dimmitt, Texas as a production engineer. He ended his career at Roquette America Keokuk, Iowa as a production manager. Ed's years of employment were all spent in the corn wet milling industry. He was considered a leader and extremely knowledgeable in every facet of the industry. He was a teacher and always challenged to learn more. Ed was always an attentive and loving parent and grandparent. He was actively involved in coaching their athletic endeavors and spent hours enjoying their events and rarely missed an activity or performance. He and MaryJo enjoyed boating, dancing, playing Bridge, and travel, especially family trips to the East Coast. His greatest joy in retirement was his involvement with his grandsons, David and Carter. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Hubert and Albertine Fisher, brother Kenneth Dean Ray, brother-in-law Richard Fisher, and his greatly loved son Jon Anthony Ray, Esq. who passed away in 2005. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo (Risher) Ray, daughter Amy Hanson, grandsons David Edwin Van Fleet and Jon Carter Van Fleet; as well as treasured brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. The elegant Abbigale C. Steele was born February 13, 1941 in Leighton, Alabama. She accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and carried her light with strength, kindness and love. She graduated from Leighton Training School, where she was a majorette and also crowned Homecoming Queen, beginning her journey as a leader and trusted confidant. After attending Alabama A&M College for a period of time, she stepped out on faith to explore opportunities up North; which brought her to Elgin, Illinois in 1960. She immediately employed at Chicago Rawhide of Elgin, walking in purpose. Her leadership, work ethic, poise and personality propelled her to second runner-up (out of 23 finalists) in the "Miss Rawhide" contest; where she was one of five contestants who also received a scholarship from Patricia Stevens Model and Finishing School. She continued to evolve in her purpose while employed at the Secretary of State, New Birth Counseling Center, Foster Parenting, and became one of the first faithful members of New Hope Baptist Church. She found a passion in serving others through listening and "magical" empathy; making all those around her feel safe, seen and cared for. She sealed this passion and gift by obtaining her Bachelors in Social Work at National Louis University. As a wife, mother, sister, aunt, family member and friend, she remained committed to a full life of good health, laughs and unwavering love. The beloved angel now has her wings and leaves the following family to cherish all the memories made: Siblings - Jewel Cobb, Belvia E. Cobbs, Charlene Freeman, Franklin Freeman (Brother-in-law) and Annie Mae Cobb (Sister-in-law). Children - Robbin Michelle Steele, Ronald Jerome Steele and Jennifer Michelle Jennings.
