Michael Donald Rauseo, Jr. , beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023 surrounded by his wife and children. He was 77 years old. Mike was born on May 22, 1946 in Malden, MA to Ann Marie (Dagnese) and Michael Donald Rauseo, Sr. Growing up alongside his brother, Paul, and many cousins in a tight-knit Italian family, Mike remembered an idyllic childhood, playing sports outside until dusk and making memories with cherished friends at the Malden YMCA. Mike loved spending summers with his beloved grandparents in Milford, MA and spoke fondly of his adventures in the woods with summer friends and the family dogs. During his time at Malden High School, Mike ran track, became a member of the Leader Core at the YMCA, and enjoyed time with family and friends at his home on Converse Ave. He took up an after-school job at the First National grocery store where he met the love of his life, Carol Turner. After graduating from high school in 1964, Mike earned an Associate's Degree in Aeronautical Technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Always up for an adventure, he enrolled in Arizona State University and headed west with his brother and several friends. Mike treasured his time in Tempe, where he could be found riding his motorcycle around the desert, hanging out with new and old friends, and working hard to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Mike and Carol got married in 1968 and moved to East Hartford, CT where he took a job as an Aeronautical Engineer at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. A few years later, they jumped at an opportunity to relocate to the company's plant in Florida. Mike and Carol built their first home together in Juno Isles and spent several years enjoying scuba diving, boating, fishing, tennis, and memorable moments with a group of wonderful friends. Before settling down back in Massachusetts, Mike and Carol took the trip of a lifetime. In a truck Mike retrofitted himself, they spent 100 days traveling across the country, camping in national parks and stopping to see friends along the way. They visited nearly every state in the continental U. S. Back in Massachusetts, Mike took a job as an Aeronautical Engineering Manager at General Electric in Lynn. Carol and Mike built a home near family in the woods in Andover where they lived for 36 years and raised their two daughters, Lisa and Cate. A loving and supportive father, Mike dedicated himself to teaching his girls everything he could. He coached their soccer and basketball teams, made sure they knew how to check the oil in the car and change a tire, taught them cross country skiing, archery, ice skating, and self-defense, and always reminded them that they could be anything they wanted to be. He and Carol were their daughters' number one fans. Together, the family made many special memories going for walks in the woods, drives to Cranes Beach, winter weekend trips to North Conway, and summer vacations in Mattapoisett with Mike's brother and his family. Before school each day, Mike would remind his daughters to "always have fun, it's the most important thing. " He often brought this mentality into his own life, enjoying countless hobbies like sky diving, rock climbing, horseback riding, reading, woodworking, and riding his Harley Davidson. Mike retired from GE and started Rauseo Construction in 1993. A talented contractor, he spent nearly two decades building and remodeling homes across the North Shore. His attention to detail, eye for design, and loyalty to his clients led to many beautiful projects and happy homeowners. After retiring in 2011, Mike loved spending time with Carol and their treasured friends, making winter trips to Florida, and soaking up special moments with family. Mike was proud that he and Carol were able to be there to help when each of their grandchildren were born. In 2019, they moved to Swampscott to be closer to their girls. He and Carol loved taking drives to Forty Steps in Nahant, a place they had frequented together as teenagers. Mike spent his final years living by the ocean, just down the street from both his daughters, his dear sons-in-law, and all four of his grandchildren. 'Pappy,' as Mike became known in the last chapter of his life, took great joy in the many moments he was able to spend with his grandkids. Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol, his daughter Lisa and her husband Lang, his daughter Cate and her husband Tom, his beloved grandchildren Cecilia, Arthur, Cora, and Charlie, his brother Paul and his wife Victoria, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. His Funeral will be held from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. , Lynn on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 178 Humphrey St. , Swampscott. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 in the Funeral Home, from 11-2pm. Burial will be private.
