Diane Lynn Gipson, 75, of Ottumwa died at 1:30 a. m. October 7, 2023 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. She was born July 15, 1948 in Maryville, MO to Joseph and Donna Fletchall Rokey. She married Billy Gene Gipson on December 22, 1999 and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2014. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Diane was a poker and blackjack dealer in Las Vegas and had been a bartender in Ottumwa. She loved working on puzzles, playing Bingo, watching gameshows and gambling at casinos. Surviving is her daughter, Tammi Owens of Ottumwa; a granddaughter, Ashley (Max) Warnecke of North Liberty; two great grandchildren, Lucy and Owen Warnecke; two sisters, Janice Harris of Texas and Debbie Rokey of Des Moines; and a brother, Steve (Ardy) Rokey of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Her body has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to the family. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Stacy Lynn Yeager Deriso, 61, of Ottumwa, died at 8:05 p. m. November 30, 2023 at Ridgewood Specialty Care. She was born September 16, 1962 in Ottumwa to Norman and Marilyn Avery Yeager. She married Shannon Rousseau and later divorced. She married Brad Deriso and later divorced. Growing up in Ottumwa, she spent the majority of her life living in Salt Lake City, UT and Henderson NV. She attended cosmetology school, worked in housekeeping and was the manager of a hotel. She also worked in-home care. Moving back to Ottumwa in 2005, she attended Ottumwa Community Church. She was a member of the Camel Club and helped others with their addictions. She enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing with her daughter, her cigarettes and coffee. Most importantly she valued spending time with her friends, family and friends from Hillside Apartments. Surviving are her children, Trey Rousseau of South Lake Tahoe, CA and Allison Yeager Fears of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren; her caregiver and friend, Alice (Harold) Roberts and their son, Johnie Roberts; a brother, David (Janet) Yeager of Ottumwa; nephew, Josh Lowe and Stacy's cat, Mr. Jangles. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepmother, Betty Yeager; and her sister, Jane Lowe. Her body has been cremated. Visitation with her family present to greet friends will be from 5 p. m. to 7 p. m. Wednesday, December 6th at Reece Funeral Home. Gary Lee Batterson, 78, of Prairie City, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 2:44 p. m. November 28, 2023 at his home. He was born July 26, 1945 in Iowa to Walter and Olive Brooks Batterson. Gary married Barbara Swanson on December 27, 1963. A 1963 graduate of Fremont High School, Gary had served with the Iowa Army National Guard from 1963-67. He and his wife lived various places through their retirement, living in Prairie City for the last few years. Gary worked for 33 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring as supervisor in 1999. He was a member of B. P. O. Elks Lodge #347. In his retirement, Gary mowed the greens at a golf course in Newton. He loved to golf, hunt, fish and was very proud of his lawn. Gary especially loved spending time with his family. Surviving is his wife, Barb; their children, Jim Batterson of Burlington, Cory (Gina) Batterson of Warsaw, MO and Laura (Tom) Sweeden of Altoona; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Judy Skinner of Moore, OK, Vicky (John) Wyngarden of Fremont and Mary (Gary) Dixon of Oskaloosa. Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Batterson; his mother and his father; and a granddaughter, Alyson Sweeden. Funeral services will be 10:30 a. m. Saturday, December 2nd at Reece Funeral Home with Monte Hess officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Walter. B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O. B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Cremation will follow the services. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday. Robert John "Bob" Ullrick Jr. , 75, of Ottumwa, died at 11:01 a. m. November 22, 2023 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1948 in Ottumwa to Robert John and Betty Overturf Ullrick Sr. He married Cindy Norris and they later divorced. He married Glenda Markle on August 17, 1992. Bob was a 1966 graduate of Ottumwa High School and graduated from Truman State University and William Penn College. He worked for Prudential Insurance as an agent for 30 years and retired as an assistant marketing director for Pennsylvania Place. Bob loved his motorcycle, sailing, music and water skiing. He especially loved spending time with his children and his family. Surviving is his wife, Glenda; his children, Brian (Shari) Ullrick, Amy Ullrick, Mike (Chris) Reinier and Michelle Holmen; 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Logan, Rachael, Brody, Celsie and Austin; 2 brothers, Randy (Jean) Ullrick of Ottumwa and Rick (Sandra) Ullrick of Penrose, CO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (Jill) Ulrick Sr. ; his mother, Betty Ullrick; granddaughter, Samantha Ahrens; and a sister, Roxana Rutz. His body has been cremated. "Paul Vernon Allman Hedrick, Iowa. Paul Vernon Allman, 88, of Hedrick, Iowa , died Monday, September 18, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was born June 21, 1935, on the family farm just East of Fremont, the son of Eddie and Luella (Goehring) Allman. He attended Hedrick High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. He was later drafted by the United States Army in 1954 and served his country until 1956. On February 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Delores Stanley at the First United Methodist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa. Paul drove truck for McCurdy Seed and also for Steve Roquet. He helped do custom bailing for both Dale Schwartz and Jim Latcham while also being a full-time farmer. He enjoyed going fishing, watching the Iowa State Cyclones, playing cards, raising cattle and tending to his garden. Later in life, his priority was attending his grandchildren\u0027s sporting activities. His family includes his wife, Delores Allman of Hedrick, his children, Stanley Allman of Des Moines, Carol Allman of Hedrick and Paula (Dennis) Richards of Fremont, his grandchildren, Jerrica Allman, Kaden Pollock, Koy Pollock and Kynzleigh Richards and his great grandchildren, Denver Robinson and Boston Allman. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Hayleigh Pollock; a brother, Harold (Doris) Allman; and a sister-in-law, Carol Stanley. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with pastor Jim Eschenbrenner officiating. Burial will take place in the Cedar Township Cemetery just south of Fremont. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, beginning at 9:00 a. m. until service time at 10:30 with Paul\u0027s family present to greet relatives and friends.
