Kathleen Summers

Sep 01, 1943 - Feb 25, 2024

location-icon

Henryetta, OK

"Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Kathleen Summers left this world on Sunday, February 25, 2024 peacefully in her sleep after a brief battle with colon and liver cancer. Taken far too soon, her zest for life and delightful sense of humor kept all in her presence, smiling and laughing. Kathy, as her family and friends called her, may have had some challenges in her life, but it was her tough-as-nails ferocity and independent streak that not only kept her fighting until the end, but earned her treasured title, “The Warhorse” given to her by her children. Kathy’s adventurous spirit led her to many travels in the US and abroad. She never met a stranger and often left an indelible mark where her suitcase landed. When life tried to knock her down, Kathy persevered and went back to school. Graduating at the top of her class as an LPN, she and her family were so very proud of her ambition and success. This caring and nurturing nature was exhibited most, as she cared for the elderly and those with terminal illnesses of their own. Kathleen was preceded by death by her parents, John and Viola Neely of Schulter, OK and her brother, Lloyd Burgess of Okmulgee, OK. She is survived by her two sisters, Yannah Yancey of Schulter, OK and Delores Corcoran of Jamestown, CA, her son, John Summers and his wife Cindy of Okmulgee, OK, her daughter, Lisa Mildon and her husband, Ian of Graham, NC, grandsons, Nathan Quinton, Joshua Quinton, granddaughter, Hannah Summers, and great-grandchildren, Cloe, Kylen, and Hayden. Service will be 10:00 am, Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Schulter Methodist Church with Jon Cregor, officiating. Interment will be 2:00 pm at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home."
