Abilene, TX
Diane Marie Flores Carrion, age 61, peacefully passed away Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in 1961 on December 18th, in Abilene, Texas to her two loving parents, Leonard and Amalia Carrion. She graduated from Abilene High School, later going to American Commercial College. She also went through TDCJ Academy where she was committed to her 15-year career as a corrections officer. Despite the dangerous, hard-working environment, she loved her job, always going above and beyond to make sure prisoners were humanely treated. She was a woman of high regards and treated with respect even by the prisoners she attended to. Her smile was contagious, and she always seemed to make everyone around her burst with laughter throughout her lifetime. Diane was a beautiful soul, always so willing to help anyone in need, whether that be offering a listening ear, or giving you her last dollar, she was always willing to assist in any way she could. Diane was often a mother figure to her nieces, nephews and any stranger or coworker who needed love and support. Despite the many challenges in her lifetime, she always seemed to be concerned for those around her and didn't let her own personal struggles affect how freely she loved. She fought courageously and remained hopeful until the very end, was never quick to anger and didn't complain despite the pain she was in. Family and friends gathered during her last days to show the same love and support she so willingly gave in return. On her best days she loved spending time with family and friends by going shopping for hours making the statement, "shop until you drop" true for anyone who decided to tag along and made dining out an enjoyable experience because she'd talk your ear off while making you laugh. Having family BBQ's and holiday get-togethers at home were some of her most cherished memories. She especially loved trips to WinStar with her mother and sisters. Going to the store to buy scratch offs or trips to local game rooms were also some of her favorite things to do with family. She was preceded in death by her great grandfather, Jesus Cisneros Flores and grandparents, Daniel and Ramona Carrion, Emilio and Sarah Flores. Left to cherish her beloved, beautiful spirit are her parents-Leonard and Amalia Carrion, brother- ALeonard Carrion Jr. , and sisters- Sandra Munselle, Sarah Borrego and Donna Rodriguez of Abilene, 6 nieces, 4 nephews, 8 great nephews, 6 great nieces, 1 great baby on the way and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who cherished her presence. Visitation will be held Monday, September 11th, 2023 from 6-8 pm with a rosary to begin at 7 pm at North's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10 am at North's Funeral Home.
