Lois Yarmain

Lois Yarmain

Age - 89

December 9, 2023

My mom, Lois Eisele Yarmain, passed away exactly four weeks before her birthday. Always impeccably dressed and "put together," no one would have ever guessed she was about to be 90, which she insisted was just a number. She was more than just a mother and grandmother, she was our best friend. Baba, as Kate and Meg called her, was involved in all three of our lives on a daily basis. She was our biggest supporter and confidant, I called her my "personal 911. "We loved her positive personality, outlook on life, her sense of humor and always laughed at her quick one liners that made everyone roll their eyes. She loved her summers on Walloon Lake, being in the kitchen "eyeballing" her recipes, telling everyone how to use the grill, and telling stories that when questioned, would insist were true. She loved to read until 3 in the morning, and when she couldn't sleep, she'd decorate and redesign her house and everyone else's. Then in the morning she'd say, "she should have been an architect. " She didn't have an official interior design degree, but no one would have ever known. Everyone wanted her decorating help. She also loved shopping, giving valuable advice, and most importantly loved life. And of course, she cherished her many wonderful friends: the Ann Arbor Landsdowne lunch group, Bingham Woods Women's Club, her Book Club, Game Night Club, Breakfast group and so many others of all ages. She was the devoted mother to Ann Yarmain Murray and cherished her granddaughters, Katherine and Margaret. She also had a pivotal role in the lives of several nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her brothers Richard Eisele (Ardith) and Thomas Eisele (Joan). Lois Eisele Yarmain was born on December 31, 1933, in Chelsea, Michigan to Paul and Isabel Howe Eisele. She went to Chelsea High School, then Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University where she earned her teaching degree and her Master's in Education. After teaching for several years, she "retired" and started her family. Years later she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor in the Surgery Education Department. Our family will miss her beyond words, but the memories we have and the stories we will tell, will make us smile for a lifetime.Show more
