Dennis J. Olson, 76, of Chambersburg, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in his home. Born on February 6, 1947 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Tillman Olson Jr. and Joan E. Chamberlain. Following the death of his father, Dennis, his mother and two younger brothers moved to England where he lived for about 15 years. He was a pupil at Chesterton School in Cambridge. In April 1967 he completed an approved 5 year Apprenticeship in the craft of Carpentry & Joinery with Sindalls in Cambridge. After returning to the States he worked for Ty Construction, Chambersburg using his Carpentry qualifications for 35 plus years. Carpentry was his profession and passion. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Burt J. Asper American Legion, Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Hume McNeal Byers Amvets Post 224, and Veterans of Vietnam Post 41. He was a loving father to two children, Denise A. Ranford and Wayne Olson, grandad to Amy Ranford, and great-grandad to, Millie and Daisy, all living in England. He is also survived by nieces Penny Olson and JoAnna Boock and nephews Bradley and Darren Olson; as well as an Aunt, Uncles and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Brian M. and William C. Olson, and his companion, Marian Holmes. Per his wishes, no formal services are scheduled at this time. Gerald "Jerry" O. Clark, 70, of St. Thomas, PA, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 surrounded by his family. Born August 17, 1953 in Shade Gap, PA, he was the son of the late Clayton and Myrtle Clark. Following high school, Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served from 1971 to 1975. While he worked many years at T. B. Woods, and then Letterkenny, he found his true calling as a self-employed craftsman. His favorite activities included hunting, fishing, and following his favorite sports teams. He loved to be in the garage restoring his antique cars and displaying them at local car shows and competitions. Above all, his number one priority in life was his family. He was a great husband, father and grandfather, and his families' needs always came first. He did his best to include them in every hobby of his and supported them in every hobby of theirs. There was never a doubt the love and adoration he held for his family. Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Crawford) Clark, whom he married in August of 1978; daughter, Heather Clark-Blankenbaker (husband, Jeremiah), son, Michael Clark (wife, Ashley); granddaughter, Cortlyn Clark; and grandsons, Corbyn Clark and Kason Clark; and three siblings, Joe Clark, Darlene Jean Lehman, and Arlene Pollock. Lois B. "Jean" Gonder, 91, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Village Square, Menno Haven. Born April 6, 1932 in Waynesboro, PA, she was a daughter of the late Preston H. and Carrie E. Small Bonebrake. Her beloved husband, Robert K, Gonder, whom she married on January 31, 1953, preceded her in death on July 14, 2000. Jean was a 1950 graduate of the former Quincy High School. She was employed as a Transportation Technician at Letterkenny Army Depot for 37 years until her retirement on June 20, 1989. Jean and her husband opened Gonder's Garden Center on Franklin Street in 1976 and moved the business to Scotland Road and The Wagon Wheel in partnership with Fritz and Joan Pogue. Jean was a member of Zion Reformed Church of the United Church of Christ in Chambersburg having served as Deacon and Elder. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary, Martha Custis Chapter #342 Order of the Eastern Star, and the NARFE. She is survived by her niece, Kathy Johnson of Greencastle; nephew, Terry Bonebrake of Waynesboro; two step-sisters, Naomi Nagy of Lancaster, and Esther Fleagle of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Bonebrake; two sisters, Mary Benshoff, and Rhoda Forney; and her step-mother, Anna Myers Bonebrake. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 24, 2023 in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Thomas Dunkle will officiate. Harry Joseph Ubele, 91, of Collegeville, PA, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living in Fayetteville, PA. Born February 7, 1932 in Philadelphia he was the second of four sons born to the late Russell Noll and Jamesina Smith Ubele. Mr. Ubele graduated from Frankford High School in 1950 and voluntarily enlisted in the US Army in 1952 where he served as a Combat Infantryman for 13 months on the front lines in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He then attended Drexel University on the GI Bill graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and subsequently went on to earn a Master's of Science Degree from Drexel University in Electrical Engineering. He met Sandra Joyce Williman, whom would eventually become his bride, at a dance in Philadelphia in 1958 and they were married on July 2, 1960. Together they raised four children spending the early years in Bensalem, PA with the majority of their married life spent in Buckingham, PA. Mr. Ubele worked for Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) as an Engineering Project Manager on NASA's Gemini space program. He later joined the Department of Defense and worked at the Naval Air Development Center (NADC) in Warrington, PA. While at NADC his main projects included the EC-130 and E6A aircraft supporting the Navy's "Take Charge and Move Out" (TACAMO) program. Following his retirement from government service he continued to work as a defense contractor at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. He enjoyed snow skiing, history, traveling abroad, cruising, cooking, watching movies and documentaries. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Mr. Ubele is survived by his wife Sandra; his brother Stanley; four children, Robin, Karen, Douglas, and David; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Ben Dunkelberger will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service begins at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Rosalie Anna Long, 79, formerly of Fannettsburg, PA, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Chambersburg Nursing & Rehab Center, with her family by her side. Born June 11, 1944 in Willow Hill, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Elsie M. (O'Donnell) Hockenberry. Rosalie is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Lemont Long, whom she married September 17, 1960. She was a homemaker who enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, tending to her flower beds, dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Tammy (Bill) Bair of Shade Gap, PA, and son, Rocky (Barb) Long of Fannettsburg, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dustin (Serena) Long; Rusty, Joseph, Joshua (Jordan) Long and Stephanie Long; Christopher (Kristine) Bair and Michael (Heather) Bair; great-grandchildren, Owen and Ayrabella Long, Lincoln Long, Troy (Jennie) Hoover, Cierra (Cody) Dick, Evelyn Thompson and Madeline Bair; great-great-grandchildren, Jason Hoover, Hope Hoover, Colton Dick, Madisyn Dick; brother, John (Sonja Jones) Hockenberry, sister, Vonnie (Melvin) Helm; and a number of nieces and nephews. Billie Sue Booze Liptrap went into the Lord's open arms on October 29, 2023 after a long fight with Alzheimer's. She was born in Eagle Rock, VA on February 10, 1935. She was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Joseph H. Liptrap; daughter, Susan D. Miller; father, Jacob Dallas Booze; beloved mother, Alma Austin Booze; sisters, Margaret B. Linthicum, Lucille B. Biggs, Janet B. Craig; and brother, J. D. Booze, Jr. She is survived by loving sons Joseph David Liptrap, wife Brenda and Mark Allen Liptrap and devoted daughter, Kimberly Jo Truett, husband Danny. Grandchildren Jessica Madonia, husband Chris; Brittney Beer, husband Eric; Samantha Martino, husband Tom; Brooke Hindle and Jennifer Liptrap. Great grandchildren Brennon Madonia, Tyler Madonia, Macie Hindle, Tessa Hindle, Raymond Beer, Reid Beer, Quinn Martino and Caleb Hindle. Billie graduated Eagle Rock High School in 1953. She then attended C&O Nursing School, graduating in 1956. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse for the United States Veterans Affairs, retiring December 1997. She received multiple commendations during her years of service with the U. S Government. She loved the beach, it was the place she was the happiest. Not just any beach but Nags Head NC, where she spent two blissful weeks each summer. She enjoyed reading, lunching with best friend Barbara, taking Prince (beloved Pekinese) for walks, and shopping trips. She was a member of the P. Buckley Moss Society and proudly displayed her many prints. She was a devoted Baptist and enjoyed helping out her fellow members at Bonsack Baptist Church. After the loss of her husband in 2009 she moved to Pennsylvania to be with her daughter. The family will have a private graveside service on Friday, November 3, 2023 where she will be laid to rest beside Joe at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens, Roanoke, VA. Ruth Mary Maginsky, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023. Ruth was born in Elmira, NY on November 26, 1933 to Burton and Mary Morgan. She graduated from Hughesville High School in 1951. From 1951-1955 she attended Mansfield University and graduated with a B. S. degree in music education. She attended Oneonta University in 1975 with 30 hours in elementary education. On June 11, 1955 Ruth married Raymond Maginsky. She taught elementary school and vocal music in Mars, PA and taught music education at Holy Family School in Norwich, NY. Ruth was a church organist in Methodist, Baptist and Catholic churches in Brewster, NY. She was organist and choir director at St. Bartholomew's and St. Paul's churches in Norwich. Ruth was a member of the St. Cecilian Society (Brewster, NY). While living in Norwich, she was a member of the Monday Evening Musical Club, the Ave Maria Society of St. Bartholomew's Church, and the National Pastoral Musicians Association. She represented Chenango County NY musicians on the Syracuse, NY Diocian music committee. While living in Chambersburg, PA, Ruth held memberships with Corpus Christi Church, AARP 2840, Young and Heart Club and the Chambersburg Mall Walkers Club. She volunteered for numerous charitable organizations. Ruth is survived by her children Nancy (Joe) Fama and Robert Maginsky, granddaughter Allison (Michael) Juhl, grandson Ryan Maginsky, and great granddaughter Brynlee Juhl. She is also survived by her sister Naomi Huffman and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Maryellen Maginsky Brennan, her husband, Raymond, and sister Eveline Bland. William W. "Bill" Noll, 100, of Fayeteville, PA passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 in his home. Born February 16, 1923 in Pond Bank, PA he was the son of the late Harry Noll, Sr. and Clara (West) Noll. Prior to serving as a combat engineer with the United States Army during World War II, Bill worked as a contractor building the first igloos in 1942. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he went to work at a sawmill for a few years. In 1947 Bill began his career at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring as a shipping supervisor in 1975. Bill was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church, AARP, and the American Legion Post 46. He was an avid deer hunter. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Knepper) Noll who he married August 16, 1991; a son, William W. Noll, Jr. and his wife Barb; two granddaughters, Amy Shively and her husband Jim and Lisa White and her husband Jamie; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Payton; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Noll, Jr. , Betty Rock, Kathleen Wolff, Elsie Cramer, Hazel Gsell, and Mary Cook. Diana R. (Koons) Shatzer, 79 of St. Thomas, PA passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 in her home. Born June 25, 1944 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Louis M. Koons, Sr. and Cora E. (Houser) Koons. She was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1962. Diana was an orchard grower alongside her husband, Jim at Shatzer's Orchard of Edenville. She enjoyed country music, cooking, reading and tending her flower garden. Diana was a very family oriented person with natural caretaking abilities and a great sense of humor. Diana is survived by; two daughters, Stephanie Shatzer (husband Kevin Neidig) of Dillsburg, PA and Jamie Fahnestock (husband Richie) of St. Thomas, PA; one grandson, Lloyd James Fahnestock; and a brother, Louis M. Koons, Jr. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. "Jim" "Tootsie" Shatzer and a brother, Gary F. Koons. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Chapel of Thomas L.
