Mr. Dennis Preston "Denny" Choate, age 66, of Dickson, TN passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 31, 1957, in Dickson, TN to Holland and Gertrude Parchman Choate. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his job at Concrete Form Erectors for 44 years. His other passions included growing things in his garden, watching sports, and cheering on his grandchildren as they played sports. Mr. Denny will be missed by many and will be remembered as one of the Good Ones. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, September 12th and from 11:00 a. m. until service time Wednesday, September 13th at Spann Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mr. Choate will be conducted at 3:00 p. m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in the Spann Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Leatherwood and Charles Wayne Leatherwood officiating. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. "Gloria Elaine (Walker) Hunter, age 77, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away at NHC Healthcare Dickson in Dickson, Tennessee, on Monday, November 27, 2023. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 20, 1946, to the late Lonnie Bernard Walker and Ruby Elizabeth (Hunt) Walker. She was a graduate of Cheatham County High School, Class of 1964. She retired from the Cheatham County Board of Education in special education. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Ruby Walker; brothers, Steve Walker, Jerry Haskell Walker, and Randy Walker; and sister, Judy Walker. She is survived by her son, Scott Hunter (Savannah); daughter, Dawn Hunter Binkley (Gary); grandchildren, Silas Hunter, Lauren (Binkley) Bellamy (Blake), Grace (Binkley) Forman (Jared), and Nova Lewis; great grandchildren, Maxwell Bellamy, Beau Bellamy, and Marcie Forman; devoted sister-in-law, Lorie Walker; nieces, Lizzie Roberts (Zach) and Torie Walker; and best friend, Carol Bracey (Dean). Funeral service will be Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Hunt Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be the same day from 11am until the service hour of 1pm. Zeltha Elaine Massa, affectionately known as Elaine, passed away on November 18, 2023, in Dickson, Tennessee at the age of 84. Born on November 22, 1938, in her beloved hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, Elaine lived a life filled with love, joy, and a deep devotion to her family and friends. She will forever be remembered as a cherished wife, mother, friend, and animal lover. Family was always paramount to Elaine. She shared a beautiful marriage with her loving husband Harold Massa. They created a bond built on trust, respect, and love. Harold supported Elaine through every endeavor and together they built a life filled with treasured memories. Elaine was also proud of her two sons Donald and Mark. As a mother, she nurtured their dreams with love and guidance. Elaine's presence in their lives provided strength during challenging times and immeasurable joy during moments of triumph. A true animal lover at heart, Elaine found solace in the companionship of her fur babies, Z-Bear and Buddy. Their bond was inseparable; Z-Bear brought joy to Elaine's days with his playful antics and unconditional love. In Z-Bear's eyes resided a reflection of Elaine's own kind spirit. Elaine leaves behind her dear friend Lenita Garner (Jimmy Spicer), whose support and companionship brought immeasurable joy to her life. Their friendship was a source of solace, laughter, and shared experiences that will forever be treasured. Samuel J. "Sammy," age 78, of Burns, TN, passed away November 3, 2023, at Skyline Medical Center. Sammy was born August 30, 1945, to the late James Corbitt (J. C. ) Brown, Jr. and Ruth Donegan Brown. He was co-owner of Browns Concrete and Block Co. with his brother, Jimmy, from 1978 until the business sold in 2009. In his retirement, Sammy, an avid horseback rider, spent much of his time with his love of 33 years, Debbie, at their favorite camping spot in Bear Branch, Illinois. All who knew him, knew him to be a kind, gentle soul who was always there when someone or the community needed him. He was especially proud of his bonus children and grandchildren. They all brought him great joy. He will be sorely missed. Those left to cherish his memory, are his wife, Debbie Brown; bonus children, Michael (Julie) Ashworth, Kimberly (Brandon) Giles, and Anthony (Scarlett) Ashworth; grandchildren, Cody Ashworth, Hunter Ashworth, Landon Ashworth, Trevor Ashworth, Trey Ashworth, Jacob Glass, Vivianna Adkins, Peyton (John) Fann, and Canaan (Destiny) Wortham; and several nephews and cousins. Danny Ross Schmittou, 75 years of age, of Dickson, TN, passed away November 14, 2023. Danny was born March 8, 1948, in Clarksville, TN, to the late Anderson and Bertha (Putman) Schmittou. Being a Veteran was his #1 accomplishment, he loved his country and his family. He loved his children, but especially those grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called him "Pawpaw Dan. " Dan was also a police officer for multiple counties in TN, and a bus driver for the Dickson County School system. He loved driving a bus, but especially loved those kids in which he drove. Dan’s two grandsons have fallen in Pawpaw Dan’s footsteps with one being in the Navy and the other being a Police Officer. In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Schmittou; daughter, Lisa Armstrong; and a grandson, Adam Robinson. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Brian (Michelle) Armstrong and Kim (Steve) Ragland; grandchildren, Tyler Armstrong (Alleigh Bankes), Leah Armstrong, Amy Robinson, and Angel Robinson; great-grandchildren, Johnathan, Riley, Ryan, and Noah; and two brothers, Butch (Sue) Schmittou and Andy (Linda) Schmittou.
