Denise Diane Irwin, 47, of Venus, Pinegrove Township, died unexpectedly of natural causes at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. She was born in Oil City on March 4, 1972 to Connie J. (Knight) Holowell of Cranberry and the late Charles L. Holowell, Jr. She was a 1990 graduate of Cranberry High School; and earned a bachelor's degree in Human Services from Clarion University in 2005. She was of the Methodist faith. Denise enjoyed music, reading, camping, and flower gardening. She was an avid collector of Amish figurines. She enjoyed the companionship of her pets. Denise was a very caring and loving person and mother; and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Irwin previously worked as a drug and alcohol counselor for Family Services & Children's Aid Society in Oil City. She was married in Bethel United Methodist Church in Oil City on February 9, 1995 to David A. Irwin, and he survives. Also surviving are four children: Dana Holowell and her significant other John of Ohio, Devon Porterfield and her husband David of Oil City, Kanaan Irwin of Texas, and Kieran Irwin and his significant other Hannah of Venus; eight grandchildren: Brooklynn, Bradynn, Skyler, Masynn, Coplin, Trinity, Haley, and Owen; her mother, Connie J. Holowell of Cranberry; her grandmother, Shirley Holowell of Florida; and three sisters: Jackie Stack, Wendy Flaherty, and Kari Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles L. Holowell, Jr.; two grandchildren: Dominik and Elliot; and her grandparents, Charles Holowell, Sr. and Doyle and Ruby Knight. Friends and family will be received Friday (April 26th) from 3 - 5 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 5 p.m., and additional visitation will then follow the service, until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Rene Pons, a retired pastor and family friend. Private interment will be in Perry Cemetery in Fertigs.
