Denise Lynn Geffs, age 58, of Casey, IL passed away at 2:20 a. m. on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 21, 1964 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Emery A. Shumaker and Shirley Karen (Blankenship) Shumaker. In January 1993 she married James Todd Geffs in rural Casey, IL. Survivors include her husband, Todd Geffs of Casey, IL; children, Levi Ring of Marshall, IL, Zachariah Ring (Kyrie) of Oblong, IL, Andrew Geffs (Taylor) of Casey, IL and Rebecca Geffs of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Asher Ring, Piper Ring, Arya Ring, Kayden Ring, Rosalie Ring, Sawyer Ring, Alaska Ring, Mae Geffs, Gracelyn Spivey, Claire Geffs, James Owen Geffs and Brylee Smith; parents, Emery and Shirley Shumaker of Marshall, IL; brothers, Emery A. Shumaker, Jr (Chris) of Springfield, OH and Ronald Shumaker (Pam) of Belleville, IL; father in law, Paul Geffs (Lynn) of Casey, IL, many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother in law, Carol Ann Geffs and sister in law, Jody Lynne Geffs. Denise was a 1982 graduate of Marshall High School, where she was an avid high school athlete. She continued her education at Blackburn College and Eastern Illinois University. Denise was employed as the quality manager for Vanseal in Vandalia, IL. She was a member of Walnut Chapel Church of Christ. Denise worked hard at everything she did. She bred, raised and showed dogs and horses throughout the United States. Denise loved traveling and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren, they were her greatest joy. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a. m. , Friday, September 15, 2023 at Markwell Funeral Home with David Hickox officiating. Burial will follow in Bellair Cemetery, Bellair, IL. Homer Thomas "Tom" Kelly, age 75, of Casey, IL passed away at 3:30 p. m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 5, 1948 in rural Clark County, IL, the son of Dale Leon Kelly and Naomi (Keller) Kelly. On May 31, 1970 he married Bonnie Marie Yount in Casey, IL. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Bonnie Kelly of Casey, IL; children, Ryan Douglas Kelly (Heather) of Casey, IL; Blaine Micheil Kelly of Greenup, IL and Sarah Marie Mumford (Ryan) of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Kylie Davis, Kara Davis, Ian Kelly, Cole Mumford, Owen Mumford and Kaitlyn Mumford; great grandchildren, Amelia, Benjamin and one on the way; brother, Harold Eugene "Gene" Kelly (Deanna) of Casey, IL; sister, Nona Arlene (Kelly) Cutright of Casey, IL and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Casey High School and continued his education at University of Illinois. He retired after 35 years as an engineer and bridge technician for Illinois Department of Transportation. He also worked as a survey assistant for Knight & Associates in Paris, IL. Tom was a member of Casey Lions Club and Round Grove Sportsmen Club. He enjoyed trap shooting and participated in many amateur trapshooting events throughout the state. Tom always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada with his friends. He cherished every moment he could spend with is grandchildren. She was born March 15, 1945 in Casey, IL the daughter of Harold Robert Watters and Wanetta Lorene (Perisho) Watters. In 1963 she married Duane LeRoy Smith in Casey, IL. She later married Michael Lynn Ealy on June 14, 1993 in Terre Haute, IN. Survivors include her husband, Mike Ealy of Casey, IL; son, Phillip R. Smith (Lisa) of Casey, IL; daughter, Pamela R. Smith of Terre Haute, IN; daughter, Dinah L. Wimbley (Jason) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Nathaniel Smith of Martinsville, IL, Adam Smith of Casey, IL, Phillip Austin Smith of Charleston, IL, Rachel Weger of Mattoon, IL and Dustin Weger of Casey, IL; great granddaughter, Kinsley Smith; sister, Wanda Smith of Marshall, IL and nephews and niece. William Owen "Bill" Weaver, age 91, of Casey, IL passed away on Thursday, November 9th, 2023 in the presence of his family. Bill was born on August 1, 1932 in Casey, IL the son of Harold and Phyllis Weaver. On January 10th, he married Anita Williams. She passed away on January 22, 1979. On August 5th, 1979, he married Sandra Ploeger at the Casey United Methodist Church. He worked for Marathon Oil Company and Dale Carnegie before returning to Casey to begin a farming partnership with his brother Gene for many years. After retiring from farming he enjoyed his hobby of woodworking. Bill served on the Casey School Board, the Clark County Board, the Workforce Investment Board, the ECIAA Board, the CAMA board and the Clark Edgar Rural Water Board. He was a member of the Casey First Christian Church where he was a past Deacon and Elder. The funeral service honoring his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Casey, IL with Rev. Dr. Joe Richard officiating. Donna Rogene Todd, fondly known as Gigi, age 72 of Casey, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2023 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. Her battles with cancer showed her courage in facing life challenges with strength and humor. She was born August 28, 1951 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Earlen Richard "Dick" Todd and Delores Pauline (Coleman) Todd. She is survived by her brothers, Pete Todd (Carmel) and Shawn Todd; her four children, Amber Stephens, Elizabeth Wallace (Gaylord), Melissa Macke and Robert Sweitzer (Rhonda). Donna leaves behind her grandchildren, Andy Oatman (Patti), John Spray, Rachel Wilson (Kyle), Katelyn Pierson, Aaron Fry, Bryan Collins, Zaylee and Sydney Macke; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Alexis, Gunner, Waylon, Josie, Kai and Rhett and her great-great-grandchild, Hadley. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ernie Thompson, Eileen Redman, Shelia Hodge and Michael Shane Todd. Donna was a 1969 graduate of Casey High School. She previously worked for Christianson Farms in Kansas, IL and was a Clark County EMT. Donna enjoyed playing pool and bowling; she was a member of the American Poolplayer Association and a member of a bowling team in Marshall, IL for many years. Donna loved to read and write; gardening, fishing and mushroom hunting. Her family and her pets were her greatest joy. Richard Eugene Hippler, age 74, of Casey, IL passed away at 3:05 p. m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL after a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 16, 1949 in Newton, IL the son of George Francis Hippler and Mary Rosina Bergbower Hippler. On November 8, 1969 he married Donna Lee Fain in Newton, IL; she passed away on January 11, 2013. He then married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Mills) Boyd on July 25, 2014 in Casey, IL. Survivors include his wife Betty Hippler of Casey, IL; sister, Agnes Ann Bond of Newton, IL daughters, Amy Mullen of Casey, IL and Sarah Tomes (Jeremy) of Teutopolis, IL; bonus children, Rob Boyd (Jenni) of Tuscola, IL; John Boyd (Amanda) of Villa Grove, IL and Cyndi Lewis (Jay) of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Cody Brown (Melissa), Derick Brown (Paige Ingram), Abigail Mullen, Felicia Tucker, Emily, Evan and Eden Hopper, James, Mark, and Chris Boyd, Caleb and Chloe Lewis; great grandchildren, Richard, Haylee and Addison Brown, Connor and Kayleigh Brown and Amelia Hagemier, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, his Church family and a rather large group of dancers and even more musicians and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna Fain Hippler; brother, Larry Francis Hippler; brother in law, Dean Bond and step daughter, Kimberly Hopper. Richard graduated from Newton High School in 1967 and then went to electronic school. He may have worked on something for you during the 36 years he worked for Sears. You may have heard him play music. While he could play anything with strings, people waited with anticipation for him to pick up his banjo. While he played with several bands and many great musicians over the years, he spent the last 12 playing with his Grandsons, Cody & Derick as Generation Gap. They have shared their talents at several benefits, Fourth of July Celebrations and Popcorn Festivals at the park and every month for a dance they started at the Casey VFW. "Richard and Friends" also played some more acoustic shows at Mill Creek and Oilfield. And no matter how late that kept him out, he always showed up to play guitar for mass at Casey's St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church every Sunday morning. He was also a talented carpenter and shared that talent with Cub Scouts, teaching them about tools. He helped his grandsons and friends make baseball bats and bag boards, made a few instruments and any crazy creation his daughters brought him. He also spent 48 years remodeling their home, room by room, over and over, creating a home full of love and laughter. He was one of the nicest people on earth; he had a great sense of humor and a wicked work ethic. He was an inspiration for many and will be greatly missed. Carolee Anne Bailey of Naples Florida, formerly of Casey, IL left this world on September 5, 2023, at age 69. She was born to Robert and Mary (Hobson) Strange on January 2, 1954 in Bloomington, IL. Carolee was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by Vic Tatak, her loving husband of 13 years; her three children, whom she was so proud of, Allen (Jodi) Kibler, Anne (Tony) Bubnick, and Elizabeth (Justan) Neels; her cherished grandchildren Demi and Wade (Elisabeth) Kibler, Shelby and Jacob Bubnick, and Mark and Grace Neels; three great grandchildren Isabel, Aria and Jackson Kibler; siblings, whom she loved and admired, Jim (Linda) Strange, Jon (Diane) Strange, Lynn (Don) Whitacre; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; step children Danny (Anna) Tatak and step grandchildren Vanessa, Cameron, Zachary and Skylar Tatak. She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Tommy Strange, Emily Bailey, Ronald Strange and Beverly Kittle; and former husband Mark Kibler. Carol often spoke of her fond memories of cheerleading at Casey High School, being on Student Council, and the beautiful relationships she made there. Carol studied Computer Science at Indiana State University and had a passion for learning. With her 30-year career as a Real Estate Broker, she applied her highly organized personality, beauty, and charm to help people achieve their dreams. She retired from the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club as Retail Manager in 2021. She really enjoyed her coworkers there and won multiple trips and employee of the month awards for her delightful and dedicated service. Carol is a 23-year survivor of breast cancer. She was extremely devoted in faith and was a member of North Naples Church. Carol loved talking to and spending time with her family. She would make every experience fun. She would never miss an opportunity to watch the sunset at Pelican Bay Beach and loved sharing this experience with her children. When we were with her, she would instruct us to look out for the "green flash" just as the sun dips below the horizon and to look at the diamonds dancing on the water. She truly saw the beauty that surrounded her every day. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday September 19, 2023, from 4 - 7 PM at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave. , Casey, IL. He was born November 25, 1953 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Donald Wayne Maulding and Dorothy Ruth (Estes) Maulding. On June 18, 1983, he married Janet Sue Bruner in Casey, IL. Survivors include his wife, Janet Maulding of Casey, IL; children, Jen Baysinger (Jeremy) of Casey, IL; Chris Hickox (Joe) of Yale, IL; Chalin Maulding of Casey, IL and Lacy Huddleston (Mitchell) of Tuscola, IL; grandchildren, Alex Baysinger, Austin Baysinger, Luke Richards, Ryan Richards, Callie Hickox, Chase Hickox and Estella Huddleston; great grandchildren, Henry Baysinger, Harper Baysinger and Nova Baysinger; sister, Denise Maulding-Bickers (Mike Bickers) of Charleston, IL; sister in law, Kathy Maulding of Casey, IL, many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces and many friends. He owned and operated Maulding Trucking for 35 years and enjoyed farming for over 20 years. Dick served on the Casey-Westfield School Board from 1997-2013 of which he was President from 2009-2013. He was a founding board member and investor of Preferred Bank. Dick's passion for life was working (he loved what he did) and spending time with his family. He enjoyed boating, camping and attending his children and grandchildren's sporting activities.
