Age - 61
November 23, 2023
"We just have to take this a day at a time. "Peggy Ann May, 61, lifelong resident of Trade, TN, moved to her heavenly home November 21, 2023. Mom lived a blessed life and made the best of each day and each situation she faced. She was beyond brave, she loved fiercely, and she stood firm for what she believed in. Peggy was born November 13, 1962 in Dr. Bundy's office in Mountain City, TN to the late Tipton and Anna Belle Ragan. She was the youngest of their three children. She worked at Harris Teeter for almost 20 years. Peggy later went to Bristol School of Hair Design and had a very successful career as a hairdresser for nearly 23 years in her own shop. Mom always worked hard for what she had. She was a selfless person who believed in helping others when they were trying to help themselves. Mom wasn't much of a homebody; she enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Sunset Beach, NC was her home away from home. Mom was a bright light to so many. She was a counselor, friend, and confidante. Mom attended Hammons Chapel Christian Church in Mountain City. She has many people in heaven who were awaiting her arrival, including her momma and daddy, husband Danny May, niece Amanda Costigan, a grandchild she never got to meet, and several precious friends. Those left to cherish the memories include her daughters Keila Ragan-Wise (Darrell), Adrienne Holman (James), granddaughters Kaitlin Holman and Emily Holman, brother Neal Ragan, sister Pat Puett (Pat), aunt Margaret "Tootsie" Wallace, nieces Gina Taggart (Jim) and Sonia Ragan, great nieces and nephews (who she considered more as grandkids) Nova Segreti, Jenna Reece, Tanner Putnam, Shainna Putnam, Eli Costigan, and Emma Costigan, special friend and companion Wayne Sims, special cousin Martha Nelson (Rocky), special friends Winnie and Calvin Wilson, Debbie and JV Potter, and Rhona and Clive Morris, several cousins, many other friends, cats Lightning, Tiger, Skunkie, and Nosey, and bird Zappa, and grandpup Pip. Funeral services for Peggy May will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 in the Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home in Mountain City, TN. The family will receive friends from 11:00-2:00 with the funeral to immediately follow. Neal Ragan and Minister Josh Giddings will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.
