Delmer Duwayne Swan, 88, of Pinehurst, ID, beloved husband, father, grandfather great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away at his Pinehurst home on August 11, 2023. Delmer was born on December 26, 1934 in Coeur d’Alene, ID, a son of the late Hilding Swan and Vivian (McGraw) Swan. Delmer recalls growing up in half of a tent in Hayden Creek before the family moved to the middle fork of Pine Creek in the summer of 1935 and then later on to the CCC camp in Cataldo in the fall of that year. In 1936, they then moved to Newman Lake, WA for a brief period until the summer of 1937 when they relocated to Bear Creek and lived in a shack surrounded by three other shacks. Finally in the fall of 1943, they moved to a 160 acre farm where Delmer lived through high school, graduating from Kingston High School, and spent a semester at NIC in 1956 and the spring of 1957. Delmer married Linda Waller on September 14, 1957 at Pinehurst Baptist Church. Linda passed away on March 3, 2020. For most of his life, Delmer was a logger and worked as a mechanic. He also worked for a short while at the Sunshine Mine. He enjoyed classic cars, snowmobiling, motorcycles, spending the winters in the desert, and his beloved dog, Nina In addition to his parents, and loving wife, Linda, Delmer; and a great-grandson, Michael Dean Temes. Delmer’s sister, Donita Day, passed away shortly after Delmer on Saturday, August 12. Survivors include his three children, Debbie and Mark Waters of Truckee, CA, Dean and Heather Swan of Cataldo, ID, and Darin and Michelle Swan of Post Falls, ID; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his faithful canine companion, Nina. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, 11:00 AM at Shoshone Memorial Gardens, Pinehurst, with a celebration of Delmer’s life to follow at the West Shoshone Park also in Pinehurst. Cecil Victor Gray, Jr. , 89, of Pinehurst, ID, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather, and brother, passed away on October 5, 2023. Cecil was born on September 21, 1934 in St. Maries, ID, a son of the late Cecil and Delia (Gilman) Gray. After graduating from Kellogg High School, Cecil enlisted in the US Air Force where he served as an engine mechanic. He married Alice West at the Wedding Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, ID and the couple shared 58 years of marriage together. Cecil had worked various jobs throughout the Silver Valley, but most notably was his time as the custodian for McDonald’s in Kellogg. He retired two years ago and will be remembered as a hard-working man who worked his entire life. Cecil liked to talk to anyone who would listen and his stories were legendary. He also enjoyed airplanes after his time spent in the Air Force. In addition to his parents, Cecil is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Woolf; and a brother, Jim Gray. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Gray of Pinehurst, ID; two sons, Bruce Gray of Kalispell, MT and Laverne Gray of Vancouver, WA; three daughters, Jacqueline Calhoun of Smelterville, ID, Susan LeMasters of Lewiston, ID, and Kim Greenlee of Dreary, ID; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Kirby Gray and Gary Gray. At Cecil’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be planned for a later date.
