Delma Garay, age 95, of Gwynn Oak, Maryland, transitioned Friday, June 10, 2022, at Chapel Hill Nursing Home. She was born July 17, 1926, in New York City, New York to the late Mercedes Plugues and the late Rufino Garay. Delma always taught her family about life skills which included patience, honesty, and fairness. She always kept her family in her daily prayers. Delma was an awesome and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a passion for sewing. Some of her masterpieces included: dresses, table runners with matching napkins, comforters, and curtains. Every stitch was sewed with grace, confidence, and exquisite details. Delma was a leader. She loved to dance, swim, and play cards. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Delma Garay, was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen M. Gause and son, Kenneth R. Pitter, Sr. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Ingrid Dunnaville (husband, Jubber Dunnaville), and daughter, Theresa Chaklos. Included are her grandchildren: Brian and Paul Dunnaville, Katherine Lewis, Aimee Richard, Kemberly and Kenneth Pitter, Jr. , Sabrina and Rebecca Chaklos. Her great-grandchildren, Sojourner and Freeman Dunnaville, Sathya and Juba Rose Dunnaville, Malik and Edward Lewis, Siyon, Lyric, Sophia and Skylar Ricard, Antwan and Kennedy Smith, Avianna and Jaden Pitter. Her loving sister, Mercedes Whitter, her daughter-in-law, Glenese Pitter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who all loved her dearly. A homegoing celebration will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 24, 2022, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be in the Patterson Family Cemetery. MASKS are required.
