Dr. Delbert Lloyd Edwardson, much loved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away on October 5, 2023. He was born on November 21, 1945 in Horton, Kansas to Lloyd and Helen Edwardson. He was a farm boy turned doctor who never outgrew his love of the outdoors, small town community and simple pleasures. He served Aransas Pass as a doctor for forty-eight years. Delbert is preceded in death by a cherished son, Jeffrey Edwardson, and by his father and mother. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Treva Jean Edwardson; daughters: Delora Santini (+Trey) and Annie Claypool (+Cody); daughter-in-law: Christina Edwardson (+Sammy); grandchildren: Nicolas, Kayley, Sarah, Natalie, Alyssa, Romeo, Xavianna, Tristan, Reign, Alana, Kylie, Vincent, Takoda and Michael; siblings: Kathern Lewis, Shirley Shaw, Nancy Thyme, Philip Edwardson, Christine Dieker and Jim Edwardson; and many other family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 10:30 am at Bethel Baptist Church in Ingleside, Texas. In keeping with Delbert's deep interest in Science and Space a limited supply of solar viewing glasses will be available for guests to view the annular eclipse together following the service. You are invited to bring your own viewing glasses if you are able. In keeping with Delbert’s adherence to the Spirit of Giving, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the local food bank or the Church in Action (CIA) Ministry C/O FCCAP PO 496 Aransas Pass, TX 7833. CIA is a benevolent fund that has assisted people in the community who are going through a tough time financially. The program has helped with rent, utilities, and food.

On December 2, 2023, Lucille "Lulu" Spriggs passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Lulu was born on March 9, 1940, in Gregory, Tx to parents Pablo and Lenore Benitez. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters, Debra Young and Myrtle Cox Montgomery, 2 sons Elvin Young and Paul Young also, 3 sisters Dian Evans, Margie Peed, and Viola Solis. Lulu was a devoted Christian, loving Mother very charitable, honest, and a true problem solver. Lulu was very dedicated to her family, friends and community; she knew no stranger. Her doors were always open to everyone that needed help, or even just some kind words of encouragement to lift them up. Lulu was also known as, "Momma Lulu" because she treated people like family, and she was so full of love. For over 50 years, she owned Lulu's Bail Bonds serving the coastal bend area. Lulu will be dearly missed by her family friends and community. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Edward (Tracy) Cox, Carlos (Dinora) Castillo, and Merry (Lee) Spriggs-Moreno, Brother, Pablo Ray Benitez, 4 Sisters Teresa Deisch, Virgina Martinez, Lavern Alvarado, and Mary B. Lopez; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 3pm-8pm Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. On November 27, 2023, Marcelino C. Hernandez passed away at the age of 100. He was born on January 16, 1923 in Hondo, Texas to Apolonio Hernandez and Maria de los Angeles Chavarria. Growing up in Hondo and San Antonio he was known as "MC". He lacked formal education attending school only to the 3rd grade. He had to work in the fields picking cotton and pulling broom corn to help his family financially during the Great Depression. What he lacked in formal education he made up by being an avid reader. He taught himself math, history, science and followed world events by reading the newspapers. At age 16 being 6ft 3in and skinny, he passed for an 18 year old and was accepted into the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC). The CCC camps were started during the Great Depression for young men ages 18-25. The attraction for him and other young men was three meals a day and a bed to sleep on. During his two years in the CCC camp, he worked in developing state and national parks. He was also trained to use dynamite to clear large boulders and hills. After serving the maximum two years in the camp, he moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to live with his sister, Juanita Garza and her husband, Joseph. In 1942, he volunteered for the military joining the Army Air Corp. He served in the 321 Depot Supply Squadron as an Automotive Equipment Operator (AAF). He also qualified as a Carbine Sharpshooter on March 24, 1944. He returned to Hondo on furlough and married a Hondo girl, Clemencia Gonzales. That same year he was shipped to the Philippines. In 1945, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan training for the invasion of mainland Japan. Which never happened because Japan surrendered. He was honorably discharged January 20, 1946 earning a Good Conduct Medal; World War II Victory Medal; American Theater Campaign Medal; and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. After his departure from the military, he returned to Hondo to raise a family and was hired by the International Harvester Company as a master mechanic. He work there until 1964. In 1965 after a divorce, he moved to San Antonio. Texas to work in the psychology department of the Robert B. Green Hospital. Then in 1968, he was offered the position of Alcoholic Counselor at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He worked in that position from 1968-1988. While working at the V. A. he met his second wife, Enid June Koons Burdett, an RN in his unit. His first wife Clemencia died November 11, 1991 and was buried at Fort Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. After retiring from the V. A. , MC and June moved to Rockport, Texas where he built their retirement home. He was always an outdoors person who loved to hunt, fish and read a good book. November 21, 2015 June passed away and he lived his life as a widower active in his church community. Due to health reasons, he sold his home in Rockport and moved to College Station to be with his daughter, Graciella and her family. So on July 1, 2022, he left his beloved Gulf of Mexico. Now he returns to lie in peace with the sound of the waves on the beach of his beloved Gulf of Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Clemencia Hernandez; their daughter, Angelina Hernandez, Taylor, Pacheco, Torres from Dallas. His second wife, Enid June Koons, Burdett; step-daughter, Genene Burdett Diaz from Floresville, TX. Brothers: Benito and Benedicto Hernandez (twins) from San Antonio, TX; Andres Hernandez, his wife Juanita from Shreveport. LA; Incarnacion Hernandez, his wife, Blanca from San Antonio, TX; Sisters: Alejandrina Hernandez from San Antonio, TX, Juanita Garza and her husband, Joseph from Shreveport, LA. He leaves behind his daughter, Graciella H. Rodriguez and her husband Juan U. from College Station, TX. his step-daughter, Michel Archamult from Knightdale, North Carolina and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 6 pm on December 5, 2023 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home - Rockport, 816 E. Main Street, Rockport, Texas 78382. Audelia Arismendez passed away on November 23, 2023, She was 80 years old. She was born on September 17, 1943, in Sinton, TX to Genocio Alvarado and Aurora Gonzales Schultz. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away due to a broken heart. Audelia's love for her husband was extraordinary and she was never the same since his passing. Audelia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Angel Arismendez Sr. , and her son, Juan Arismendez. Audelia leaves behind a loving family including her children, Trinidad Davila, Angie Flores, Jose Angel Arismendez Jr. , Gilbert Arismendez, Isidro Arismendez, Jesus Arismendez, and the late Juan Arismendez. She was also a cherished sister to George Alvarado, Sally Ramirez, Pompy Bolenbarker, Carol Adams, and Robert Schultz. Additionally, she had numerous cousins and friends who held a special place in her heart. Throughout her life, Audelia dedicated her time and efforts to various community organizations. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader, Assistant Director Cheerleader for the Magnolia Sharks, Team Mom for Football and Baseball teams, Queen for VFW, Cake Decorator, Crafter, and Event Organizer. After COVID-19 hit the community hard, Audelia generously donated essential baskets to those in need at Live Oak Village where she volunteered as an organizer for decor and food preparation. The visitation will be at Charlie Marshall Funeral located at 2003 West Wheeler in Aransas Pass on Monday, November 27th from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea, located at 342 S Rife St. in Aransas Pass, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Prairie View Cemetery. Audelia Arismendez will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.Show more

Rojelio Pequeno was born in Donna, TX. , on December 6, 1946, and went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2023. Roy and his father, Enrique Pequeno, had an unspeakable love and respect for one another. His dad was so proud of Roy’s work ethic, and Roy loved working and traveling with him. Everyone who worked with Roy will tell you that he was the hardest worker they had ever known. Roy loved his mother, Maria Segrest Pequeno, with all his heart and he came to live with her in Aransas Pass in her elderly years. Roy loved and impacted many family members and friends with his modeling of a Christ-like life. He was a very well-respected, honored, and pious man. He loved playing his guitar and singing Christian songs, but his favorite song was "I Can Only Imagine". Roy also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, The Andy Griffin Show, and Gunsmoke. Roy read his Bible and knew God’s Word from cover to cover, he felt it was his mission to share God’s word with others to bring them to Christ. His favorite scriptures to share them with others were John 3:16 "For God so love the world he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. " in John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ". He quoted Revelation 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door. I come in and eat with that person, and they with me. ". Roy’s favorite hymns were Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, and among many Spanish hymns as well. Roy, we thank you for all your efforts in being an awesome son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. You will be missed by all who were privileged to have known you. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Mary Aleman (Sixto Aleman), Janie Garza (Keith Simon), Diana, Leticia, Nora, Patricia and Maria Elena; brothers, Michael, Ricky, and Rolando Pequeno; many nephews nieces, and cousins.
