Werner Fredrick Gommeringer, 88, passed away on November 28, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on January 11, 1935, in Viking, Alberta, Canada. Werner was a motivator and a people person, always positive; with a sense of humor that served him well throughout his life. Werner grew up working hard on the family farm, where they made hay, raised and sold pigs, cattle, and cream. As a young man, he left the farm and ventured into the oil fields, facing treacherous sub-zero temperatures and locating oil fields by night, often driving over frozen lakes. Afterward, he tested his sales skills in real estate until he and his wife, Erna, discovered Amway through a good friend. This opportunity was a natural fit for Werner, a hard-working, people-loving salesman. Together, Werner and Erna climbed the ranks of the Amway Corporation, reaching the top 1% and earning numerous awards and trips along the way. They retired in 1990. Once retired, Werner enjoyed exploring both the United States and Canada with his beloved wife, Erna in their motor home. They cherished their time together, making memories and embracing new experiences. When home, they loved spending time with their 3 young grandchildren. Werner is survived by his daughter, Dana, and her husband, Dale; son, Duane; grandchildren: Cassie (Greg) Petriekis, Danielle (David) Mesri, and Josh Cavan; great-grandsons: Jameson Petriekis, Lawson Petriekis, Walker Petriekis, and Jack Mesri; brother, Bernard Gommeringer; sisters: Joan Arychuk, Tilda Dafoe, and Rose Marie Jordan, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erna Gommeringer; parents: Fredrick and Flora Gommeringer; and brother, Walter Gommeringer. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, at Paradise Memorial Gardens in Scottsdale, Arizona. The ceremony will be conducted by Randy and Freida Vogel of Hansen's Mortuary, located in Scottsdale.Show more

Age - 57

Raymond Churchwell, aged 57, beloved husband to Jeanine for 32, devoted father to Nicole, Sarah, and Aaron, grandfather to Micheal, Angel, Steve, Memo, and Jason, son of Colleen, and brother to Alan and William, departed from us on December 1st, 2023, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, dedication, and multifaceted passions. Known fondly as "Scout Master Churchwell" by scouts and lovingly dubbed "Uncle Grandpa" by his nieces. Ray's life was an ode to problem-solving, sharing his knowledge, and the great outdoors. His favorite vacations were spent in the wild, hunting, fishing, shooting and camping, his wife lovingly called him a "Heavily armed hiker" as there were many times he would come back from a hunting trip empty handed. He also loved vacations where he could lay on the beach reading books and drinking a beer. A proud engineer at Boeing, he humorously claimed to "break airplanes for a living," but his impact was far-reaching, especially evident in his mentoring of young engineers, fostering inspiration in STEM through initiatives like FIRST Robotics. Ray graduated with his Masters Degree in May 2020. He had deep enthusiasm for 3D printing and additive manufacturing, a passion that fueled his publications and teaching endeavors. Ray's unwavering dedication extended to his volunteer work as a Range Safety Officer, involvement in children's ministry, and volunteering with the scouts, embodying the essence of safety, mentorship, and community service. His impact reverberated through stories shared by those he influenced - his unconditional love and the profound care he showed for the safety and success of others. Ray's departure leaves a void, yet his memory remains a guiding light, inspiring all to cherish family, embrace passions, and selflessly give back to their communities. Memorial services will be held at 3pm on Friday January 5th, 2024, at CCV (Christ's Church of the Valley) midtown campus - 2005 E Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ, 85016Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Arcadia Titian's First Robotics Team 3187 at Arcadia Highschool.
